Ok, for those that have went (or are going & have been planning) in December, what are the things that are different for Christmas. Chuck & I want to make sure that we see the things that are different for the holidays. We don't want to plan on many attractions unless they are different for Christmas. We will definitely do POTC because it is new and we can't wait until March. We will do Swiss Family Tree House at night because MK is so beautiful from there at night. So this is what I know.

MK:
MVMCP
Stage show (can't remember the name)I think the Country bear show is different and there's the Twas the night before Christmas show in TL

Epcot:
Santas in World Showcase
Candlelight Processional
IlluminationsThere is a tree lighting ceremony as well as the arch lights? not sure what they're called

MGM:
Osborne Lights

Resorts with decorations - which ones? I'm thinking the Polynesian, AKL, CR, and WL for sure. What other ones have the over the top decorations? The GF seems to be the neatest I have heard. I think Beach club one (could be a dif. one) has the gingerbread carousel that I always wanted to check out as it looked so neat on the TV.

What about Fantasmic? Is that different at all. I really enjoy it but don't want to take the time away from the Christmas stuff since we'll be back in March to see it.

We'll see the Electrical Water Pageant & Wishes from the cruise. We may go to MK for Wishes from main street but not sure yet.

What is on your list of "not to miss" for Christmas? I would like to get a pic. of each dif. themed tree at each park. I love Christmas tree so this might not be as cool to someone else. :confused3 I would also check out DTD as I thought they had things during Christmas time.

I really got to get moving on the planning for this trip. I still don't have ADR's.
I was so concerned that we might not be able to go that I hated to even look at planning it. However, Chuck is showing much improvement so that I know we can go so time to get in gear.
:) Hope you have fun planning.

Chuck got his blood tests back. All of them were negative. We talked to his sister who has a doctorate in nursing. She says these are the bad ones. However, that means we still don't know what is causing the arthritis that showed up in the x-rays. So it sounds like more tests in two weeks.

His knee is feeling better already. It doesn't show any arthritis. We think it was just a side effect of walking funny because of the arthritis in his spine. He has a staple in his knee from when he pulled the ligament away from the bone in a water skiing accident before we were married. That knee is sensitive to weather and other changes.

Chuck changed his meds so that he is taking half at night and half in the morning (specialist told him to do this if he needed to). He was still having quite a bit of pain in the morning. This is the first morning since he changed it and he was much better this morning. I hope that it lasts.
:sunny: Glad to hear the meds are helping. Keep us posted on the tests.

Wow, you have added so many new things to my list. I forgot we need to get a blue garter for Minnie. She has something new - her wedding dress, shoes, flower bouquet & veil. I'll have to get thinking about the old and borrowed. Maybe she can wear one of my bracelets as her necklace for the borrowed. That is also old, but I think there should be 4 different things. Hmmm. Think! Think! Think!

Forgot about gifts for the wedding party. Never heard of getting the parents something. Are these necessary? Ooh. Wait a minute, I'm the parent. That means I get the present. Yes, that is definitely necessary.

Wedding favors? Really? What are those? Who gets them? This is a new one for me. My head is spinning. Think I have the beginning of a headache. What was I thinking? A wedding? At Disney? I think I'm going to lay down for awhile.

Lucikly, I didn't say anything to Terra about doing something. Then there could have been real trouble. She's already a little upset with me because I said that we couldn't go ride the horses at Disney World today.
:goodvibes How cute. My kids don't get the concept of how far away DL is either. They think we're gonna see the Fireworks over the castle for the 4th of July. :rolleyes1

Thanks so much for the info. I've added them to my list of things to do. I'm trying to get it all organized in my planning binder now. Now that Chuck is improving, I am starting to enjoy the planning again.

I think a lot of people do some kind of sweet for favors. The most unusual was a tree sapling? It died on the drive home as it was hard to keep watered and hold for a 2 day drive. The idea was for us to plant it in our yard and think of them every time we saw it. Of course, this was DH's business partner (who for various reasons I dislike immensely). For our wedding favors we gave out little red boxes with our date and names engraved in green with peppermint fudge (I made) in it. I usually end up making about 5 dif. kinds of fudge for the holidays. My sister one year decided to make my pep. fudge for our parents since she was going to be there. The recipe must have been hard to follow cause she said it tasted wrong. :confused3
As for parent's gifts I have never heard of this. We gave the moms a flower during the ceremony but no gifts. That must be why my IL's don't like me. ;) :rotfl:

The parent gifts I learned from a friend who also gave the bridesmaides hankies with a beautiful poem about friendship.
I made strawberry jam and put it in those sample size jars with a sticker on the bottom with our FYI on it. I have gotten everything from little bells, fridge magnets, candy and even the almonds.

SO Vicki what is the favor going to be? Have you had a meeting with Minnie yet?

Well after 2 days of no rain, here it comes again. :(

HOW COOL IS THAT!!!!!!!

Your welcome. I have it in my favorites as I would like to do this tour one year.

Ok, where would I get details on this?

ETA: Should have finished reading before posting my question. Thanks Heidi. I'll talk to Chuck tonight and we may just add this! It would be cool.

There are tree lighting ceremonies at Epcot and MK. The Epcot one is a little show and gets crowded so get there early. I don't know much about the MK one. The MGM and AK parades are decorated for the holiday. I don't remember if MK was as well. The AK parade also changes up the music a little to include the holiday. It's called Jammin' Jingle Parade then. As for resorts, GF is supposedly one of the best and the Epcot Deluxe resorts have gingerbread displays as well.
Oh yes my kids love parades. I think the Christmas parade at MK is during MVMCP.
When we go in 2007 I have scheduled a whole day for checking out the resort's decorations and gingerbread displays. Of course we'll have to pick lunch and dinner places to coincide with our resort touring. :teeth: (Sneaking some retaurants of my choice in past DH :ssst: )

She is done with chemo, will be starting radiation on the 5th i think.

Sorry Chanon -

I should have clarified - no DVC availability!
OK I am confused how can they have no availability for DVC but have them available? :confused3 I would think since you bought a timeshare they can't rent out space until they have satisfied all the timeshare people?

Vicki I found a few things for you and Minnie to work on.....

Elin, what are the crowds like on the 24th December?
That is my sister's birthday and John would love to take her for her birthday, but like I said he is worried about the crowds.

They are heavy. Are you thinking about MK in particular? It is usually less crowded on Christmas Eve than on Christmas Day when the park is usually closed to new people early in the day. This is a relative lighter crowd, though. It is still lots of people! And we wouldn't miss it for anything in the world. :goodvibes

Epcot is pretty light on Christmas Eve too and we usually go to the CP that night.

Can't speak about the other parks because we don't ever go to either of those on Christmas Eve.

Did that help at all?!?

That Magical Beginnings EMH totally messed up my plan for August. I was hoping to avoid all EMH's. Ugh. I am going to try to shuffle around some ADR's but I think it's too late to get the places & times we wanted. :furious:
:grouphug: I am worried that this dreams thing will mess up our schedule as the VIP family might end up on the day we're supposed to be at MK. I am sure my boys would not be thrilled to stand around and wait til the family is done with each land. I figure that will also throw off the TGM schedule as who knows when which lands will open up or what order. :confused3 I wish Disney would just announce what day the winning family is going to be having the MK to themselves so I could switch ADR's if necessary. (I am sure that this will be a thrill for the winning family and I think it's a great PD moment I just don't want to be there that day as the kids have a bunch of favorites they want to ride at MK and Zack doesn't do well if lines get longer than 30 min.)
