this is a drive by posting - I have to head to the festival!

I am scheduled for surgery on September 1 - I could have done it the week we got back from DC but decided it would be better to wait until the kids are in school - I will be on crutches and not able to drive for 2 weeks but he told me that I would be doing great at 4 weeks!! He also took an x-ray of both of my knees - and guess what...

both knees have the same problem and he thinks that odds are once my one knee is fixed - I will realize how much the other one bothers me as well - I have some arthritis starting in the knees so it is good that I am getting it taken care of now - and he said I will be shocked to find out how my knees should feel when I walk!!

and the x-ray tech is a Disney Fan too!! So of course, I directed her our way - I hope she stops in and says hi! Her name is Tammy!!!

I have always wanted to do RCL but when you try and budget a family of 4 the Carnival cruises are always cheaper. When we take the jump from Carnival to Disney I know there will be a huge difference.

Lynn
Maybe you should take baby steps......Carnival to RCL and then Disney, then you will only notice a gradual increase in price! ;)

I hope the surgery corrects the problem. Smart thinking to wait until after swimming season!!

Lynn,

Who did you use to book the Carnival cruise? A 7 day carnival or RCL seems to be cheaper than a 4 day Disney.

Kate, I hope the surgery makes you feel much better.

I'm looking into the RCL Alaskan cruise starting in Seattle. I loved Seattle when I was there in the 80's. It was so beautiful. It would be so cool to be able to go there with Chuck and visit the market place again. There are some cool on-shore excursions in Alaska. Chuck's dad was going to take Chuck on an Alaskan trip for his college graduation but Chuck chose to marry me instead. I told him to we could plan the wedding for later in the summer so that he could still go to Alaska with his dad but he didn't want to be away from me! I may just be able to talk him into this cruise!

I actually used a Carnival travel agent. I compared his price with two outside travel companies and his were cheaper. Only by about $150 but that was enough for me.
He was great to work with to.

1-800-819-3902......note: I just called Michael and he is no longer with Carnival :confused3 His voice mail referenced another contact........Crystal ext # 82486.

Good Luck!!!

I've only cruised RCCL but it was fabulous! We did Martinique, Barbados (so beautiful), Antigua, St. Thomas and St. Martin.

Brian has sailed Princess, RCCL, and NCL. Years ago his favorite was Princess, but it's been ages since he sailed with them so things may have changed.

I plan for our next cruise to be DCL, but it won't be for a few years.

After that - Alaska!! Vicki I hope you can talk him into it. I can't wait to do it but I want my kids to be old enough to get something out of it.

Kate I'm glad you're scheduled for surgery and I hope it brings you some relief. My mother's side of the family all have knee problems and I'm starting to have them. After I have the baby I'm going to the Dr. to see if there's anything I can do for it so I feel your pain, literally.

My parents did an RCL Alaskan cruise, and they loved it.

I got it THREE times! Maybe I'll have really good luck.

Well, it seems only fitting that you should get it thrice...

Just thought I would check back in before I leave for the day. I can't wait for 5pm to get here.

The boys are camping with my parents this weekend so it should be quiet around our house. I am sure that some "turtle time" will be involved but I will check in Saturday afternoon when DH is at work.

Someone else told me that...I myself don't see it...

what a day...I also took her bra shopping...and then had the "joy of shaving" class with her :rotfl2:

Tarryn is also going to middle school and we did the bra shopping last year summer, not that she wears them, will only wear the camisoles with built in as most of her friends are still flat.
Haven't started on the other lessons yet!!!

I've got a whole 'nother hour before I get to go home. We have family night tomorrow. Not sure why we call it night when we spend the whole day with them. :confused3 But tomorrow is tie dye day again and we are so happy. I may even get a new perm and poodles everywhere are rejoicing that they get their look back from me. :teeth:

Sunday is a Roast of my boss. He's been at this church 10 years and in the ministry 40. Haven't quite figured out why he's been in the ministry as long as he has....he is an odd duck. Then I promised Abi we'd have our afternoon alone so that's also Sunday.

Maybe I will just stay at work and sleep here, it will be quieter!! :teeth:

Ah bugger!! I just remembered!! Abi told me all of her "training" bras are to small so that's another thing on my to do list this weekend.

Poor kid seems to be doing everything earlier than her sister: shaving, bras, women's size in shoes, adult sizing in clothes. She had a dance camp performance yesterday and the poor kid towered over everybody...give her a couple months and she'll tower over Cassidy!!

Thinking about booking a Disney Cruise for next summer. This will be our first cruise ever. I've been trying to read and find out info, but I could use some help. I posted this on the Cruise Line forum also.

  • I think it would make sense to get Adjoining rooms in a lower category vs a Family Suite so we'd have 2 bathrooms. Which category would you suggest?
  • Any advantage of going in June vs July? The kids birthday is at the end of June. Would it be fun to go for their birthday?
  • Will there be Double Dip cruises again next summer? Where can I see itinerary plans?
  • I'm leaning towards the Eastern route. Pros/cons for a first time cruise?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated. I am so nervous about booking a cruise, but I think it would be great fun.

Denise we have had 2 balcony and 2 oceanview and both have had the split bathroom, which is great with the kids, I heard on this past cruise that cat 10 are the only rooms with connecting doors, I am meeting her tomorrow at NorthPoint so will confirm that, she has 4 kids so see what her choices would be.
I love the eastern which has the extra day at sea, The Double dip was great but I would still rather do the Eastern I just founf it much more relaxing so booked it again for Sept 2007.
Check the itinerary's on disneycruiseline.com
You will be hooked on cruiseing SO BEWARE!!!

let me know if there is any other info you need.

DO IT!!! DO IT!!!

I love cruises. We have been on 4 and 2 of them the kids went with us. My next one will definitely be a Disney Cruise. Here is some of my opinions......
*I would go with the two adjoining rooms instead of the family suite. You get the extra bathroom plus more space. Definitely get a room with a balcony. Coffee in the morning out there while the kids are still sleeping is priceless.
*I don't think there is a big difference between June/July. Early June would be less crowded since most schools up north aren't out until mid-June
*You have to tell me about Double Dip Cruises.....I have never heard about that but would like to know
*I have done western 4 times and I am done with it. It is pretty but I have heard that the 7 days Eastern are beautiful.

Remember dinner w/ Julia at Cheesecake Factory.......that was my deciding moment that my next one would be a Disney Cruise. My husband really enjoys the casinos so I had to tell him he would have to give that up on a Disney cruise.

I hope the planning goes well.

Lynn

You know if you all book the week of Labor day the Magic's Itinerary is Eastern and I will be there!!!!
Lynn, I have found that we don't really use the balcony that much, we are just not in the room as I can stay in my room at home so have decided that I would rather pay for a 3rd cruise from the $$ I save from 2 oceanveiw bookings. We only ever order coffee in the morning the first day and that's more to get milk and cereal for DS for the fridge.

Just found out there are NO 7 day Disney cruises next summer as the Magic is going to the Mediterranean. That sucks. So if I want to do a cruise next summer, it will be non-Disney. I really wanted their first cruise to be Disney. I don't want to take the kids out of school if I can help it. Should I look at a non-Disney cruise? What would you do?

Yes we get on it the day it gets back from the med, we priced the transatlantic to bring it back and it was not bad but decided it was too long as the kids would have to miss over 2 weeks of school etc
Join us September 1st - 8th!!!

Denise - you could book back to back wonder cruises - the 3 day and then the 4 day - they let you stay on and you get to keep your cabins

You also get a double dip that way but both only go to the Bahamas.

Next year will be our 4th Disney cruise the week of Labor day and it is always great and the kids only miss 4 days. The prices are also better than June/July.
