We went to Home Depot last Saturday morning for their Kids Crafts program. Apparently they do it the first Saturday of each month. Kids can build projects. They supply the projects, tools and instructions. The best part was that it was completely free. These are the projects that my kids did.

Colby's Firetruck
Hunter's Mickey media rack, tool box and bird feeder
Nick's Mickey media rack and Mickey bookends
These are the cookies that we made today. The kids decorated them:
We have decided to cancel our camping trip for this weekend. If you've watched any weather reports you know that New England is having a summer Nor'easter. We have had non stop rain all day. The rain is supposed to taper to on/off showers for the weekend, but we still expect a lot of rain. My brother and his family can't go as his truck is sitting in Chris's garage. He needed a lot of work done. Chris worked on it Monday night, Tuesday night and tonight. He fixed everything that was wrong with it, but when they tried to bleed the brakes a brake line broke. He will now be replacing all of the brake lines. It was a good thing that it happened in the shop and not while towing his camper. My parents were thinking of cancelling due to the weather so we all are cancelling. We promised the boys that we'd do another Home Depot craft clinic as it is our Home Depot's 1 year anniversary so they are having special events. They also want to go bowling and we all want to go see Cars. Since we are staying home I will have to work Friday night as they were really short handed without me. Oh well.

Deb
Sorry to hear that you cancelled your camping trip. I absolutely   the Home Depot projects! We will be checking these workshops out.
And the Pooh cookies are too cute!

Since I am now caught up and watching Ray I will share how my evening went.

It rained just about all day today, so we held the Bridging ceremony inside. It went extremely well and I have a feeling it will end up being inside in the future as it kept everyone at the ceremony and not running off to the playground. Lots of people commented that they liked it inside. Personally I still wished it would have been outside but you gotta make do with what you got. I heard it was the best Bridging ceremony in years which made me feel good. :goodvibes

Each troop presented either a song(s) or a poem(s). My girls choic was Are you Sleeping and they wanted everyone including the parents to do the Hokie Pokie. Well I changed the words of Are you Sleeping? to this
Are You Sleeping? (Are You Sleeping?)
Families and Scouts (Families and Scouts)
We sure hope you are not (We sure hope you are not)
So please stand up (Please Stand Up)

Thank you for coming (Thank you for coming)
To bridging (To Bridging)
Won't you please all join us (Won't you please all join us)
And do the Hokie Pokie (And doe the Hokie Pokie)
We then did the Hokie Pokie, it was great fun to get everyone involved, I think the girls had great ideas.

One of my Brownies kept asking me if it was the last time she would see me as I am not having the Brownie Girl Scout troop in the fall. She even made me a homemade thank you card. I know she will be the one to miss me the most, as she never wants to leave. She might be moving over the summer so I might not get to see her, even though I will be around with other Girl Scout stuff.

Here is the tree we put together during the ceremony from the parts I made, each level was represented by a different tree part. It was quite interesting getting the leaves on as the back post was 8 feet tall.

All I got left for this Girl Scout year is the community Flag Burning Ceremony on Flag Day. Worn out Flags are collected from the community. We destroy the flags properly by cutting the stripes apart and the blue part off of the flags and the stars are cut out and then they are burned as this is the only proper way to destroy the United States Flag. It is really neat to watch and participate in.

The only other thing would be the pool party whenever I end up planning it. :rotfl:

:cool1: :cheer2: Great job on the Bridging ceremony! :cheer2: :cool1:

Boy I wish it wasn't! They gave us a road skills test study guide and there are three skills they have to do before they get on the road. Pulling straight into a parking space, backing up into a parking space from a 90 degree angle & parallel parking.

I think I'd fail without a lot of practice ahead of time. I can't back into a parking space either.

This started me thinking about different states and their tests. Does your state test on a course or on the street. In NYS (this part anyway), a road test really is on the regular roads. The examiner tells you where to turn, etc., and they just find a car parked by the side of the road for you to parallel park behind.

So DH gets me an anniversary card and when I start reading the first part, I gotta admit, he is getting me a funny card, but also I know he is good for a tear jerker.

so the card starts out with :
After all this time,
I still want to...

on the inside

Have fun with you
fall asleep with you,
wake up with you,
dig deep with you,
be friends with you,
act bold with you,
make love to you,
grow old with you.

tear jerker
I love my man
probably won't get him to WDW
but I love him

  Happy Anniversary!

Lucky you! That is what I failed my test on, I hated parallel parking! When I took our test we had to be 6-12 inches from the curb and finished in under 3 minutes. Well I did the test fine up until that point. I pulled the car into the spot and was 5 and 3/4 from the curb. Would not let that pass. So I had to retry it and then I ran out of time! Once you fail you have to wait 3 days! I was so frustrated and started crying! That damn officer told me to stop crying and keep practicing. ***! It wasn't like I was 20 feet from the curb. I was a freaking 1/4" off!

I had a nice examiner, though he seemed rather gruff. My first park was about 18" from the curb. He opened the door, looked out, and said, "You call that a park?!" I was convince that I failed. He did, however, give me a second chance later in the test. I don't think that happens very often.

I don't think that it is the only proper way to retire flags. We just did a flag retirement ceremony with the VFW and they also burn the flags, but they are not cut apart first. I have never heard of such a thing. We have done this every year on memorial day.

ETA: The kids were fighting and I never told you how nice your ceremony sounded and the picture looks great. You have a real talent for these things.

For us, the three parking tests are in a parking lot with cones. If they pass that, then they go out on the street for the actual driving test.

Are you interested in it? I don't want to steal it away from you!

Nope. I just thought it was cute and wanted to see how much someone paid for it for future reference. ETA: Plus, I told Theresa I was done after the Tigger so she doesn't try to start an intervention! :lmao:

My tester was a woman and down here it seems that if you are a girl and you get a woman tester it is almost certain you will fail!

Sorry to hear about your Mardi Gras camping being canceled. Hopefully, you can have just as much fun doing indoor things. :) Love the boys projects. How old do you hqave to be to participate in those? :confused3

I don't think our Home Depot had any age requirements. There wer 3 or 4 little ones there. Colby and my nephew are both 3.

:goodvibes I won't pay much for it as I signed up for that Unwired Buyer thing to get the $20 free! I think they are all too cute!

The Home Depot my DH works at doesn't have an age limit. They have several Home Depot employees/volunteers walking around and helping. It isn't a drop off and shop kind of thing. They require the parents to stay with the kids.

Robyn -- congrats to Emma! She looks darling in that picture.

Well, I'm caught up again. Can you tell I was trying to boost my post count! I need to get moving! I am planning on making some of Amy's famous cookies for Emma's teachers and class. Not to mention I still have to finish all the tote bags and get caught up on laundry! Hopefully Molly will cooperate!

Chanon, Emma saw her name in your post and got very excited! You made her day! Thanks! :goodvibes

Deb -- sorry you have to cancel your trip. Sounds like you have some great things planned for this weekend. PLEASE send some of that rain our way. We are on water conservation now and trying to keep everything from dying. With 100 degree days expected over the next few days, I think I will lose this battle.

Denise -- thanks for posting the pictures of Rees, Davis and B-K. They are great pictures of all of them. It's great to hear that Rees is doing well after surgery.

Did anyone else notice that we are posting on page 2500. Ok, it's just a mini milestone, but still :cool1: :cool1:

Terry. Happy Anniversary

I'm going to try to do a few designs today since I don't have to finish packing the camper and it is still raining. Logan has Chicken Little playing and Colby is in his room watching Power Rangers. Really, we're not addicted to Disney or anything. ;)

Deb

Did I get it? Yep, I got post 37500 on page 2500. Those numbers people must be rubbing off on me...

So Hunter's best friend and his parents are heading to WDW a week from Saturday. I talked to the mother yesterday and she hasn't even thought about packing. They have made a few ADRs, but not many and they are on the dining plan. :confused3 I have actually tried to avoid talking to them about their trip as I know that I will just get frusterated. When they started planning this in March I offered to make them T-shirts, autograph pages, give them any info that they need, but they prefer to just go with the flow and take things as they come. Chris and I are sitting here thinking that they are going to have a miserable trip as they just don't know that doing Disney requires skill and prep time. You all know what I mean. Between the June heat, no ADR (not many anyway) and no plan of attack, I bet they don't get to see much of the world. She asked me the other day what items they shouldn't go without and when I started telling her she looked at me like I was out of my mind. An extra pair of shoes for Kali River Rapids? You can't possibly get that wet? Wait until they walk around in soggy sneakers or wet jean shorts after that ride, they will find out the hard way.
