I am back! We had a great time!!!!

I just realized that Mark and I only took a few pics together and only had a few other him or I. All the other pics are of all his other classmates. So here is what I have.
Great pictures!

When it rains, it pours for you, doesn't it? There is no way that I would feel comfortable coming into a new parish and trying to take over. That is not the way to do things.

What do you plan to do?
You could say I feel slightly overwhelmed right now!!! I think if I could really figure out what is going on with Nick things wouldn't seem so bad to me - I just feel like something is off with him - he doesn't complain about his head but he seems more lethargic and crabby to me - I tried to schedule his EKG but the doctor forgot to call in the orders and I keep missing her - and now whenever Nick gets in trouble he looks at me and says "me sick" - so I know he has learned the sympathy I give him with those two little words and now I can't tell when he means it and when he just wants my attention - and on top of everything he has turned into a serious Mama's boy and ONLY wants me all of the time!

Steve has a small procedure tomorrow and is under a HUGE amount of pressure at work which of course is spilling into our home - and is not something that he can just leave at the office

and I find out Wednesday if I need surgery -

I have a lot of unknowns in my life - I can deal with things when I know what is going on - it is when I feel helpless that I get upset!

So as for this situation - I emailed her about how things work and told her that until I get a registration form - these people aren't registered in the program and I will not place them until then - which might mean they won't get the slot she promised them b/c I am working on first come first served - I have to do this the way we always have b/c I know it works!! and that is how everyone else is expecting things to be done - and if the new director thinks the other way is better - then they can do it next year - odds are I won't be doing it anyway!

Here is a photo that I took before the concert. The cafegymtorium as dh calls it has really poor lighting to photos don't come out in there :guilty: I did take a video, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. You can tell from the picture that Nick was not keen on having mom take photos while his friends were standing there watching him :rotfl: Such is Life.

I have to be up early tomorrow so I'm off like a prom dress :rotfl:

Cute picture!

If you think that's odd, I have two parents that won't travel together. One will fly in the day before the other. Why? In case of a plane crash. Smart, but odd.
I have heard of people doing that, we probably should beacause we have noone that is health-able and willing to take the kids if something happened to us both.

We travel without DH, but then that's because he doesn't travel. I can get him to his parent's when a holiday is involved, but other than that he would just rather stay home. He IS going to WDW with us in Feb for the first time! Of his own accord he said that is everyone else was going (my parents, sisters and all the BILs) then he wasn't going to be the only one not there. Yippee!!!
That's great maybe he'll catch the magic and want to go more often with you and Terra. :goodvibes

Kate, all of this shall pass. Life gets like that sometimes. The stressful times make you thankful for the peaceful times. Remember the Serenity Prayer - it's really a good one! (God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference). Take one thing at a time, don't lump them all together in your brain, and you won't feel quite so overwhelmed. Everything will fall into place in its own time.

For what it's worth - I think Nick was probably cutting teeth, he got a lot of attention, and now he's trying to see how far he can milk it. You're smarter than he is - you'll figure out if he's really sick or just wanting attention. As far as Steve goes, all men are babies (ETA - I meant all men are babies when they're sick or overwhelmed). He'll be okay.

No, they share a bedroom. She does a girls only week trip each year, either a cruise or Vegas etc. He likes to go on hunting trips. They usually go camping for part of a week with their kids. This year they are going for a whole week :lmao:

Deb
ahh maybe they could do the separate vacations every other year and than a family vacation the other years. :confused3

Tammi -- I haven't done an anniversary party -- just a joint 60th birthday party for my parents, but they loved it. I don't have a lot of answers -- more like questions to ask yourself to help answer your own questions.

1. I think any time you have it, they will appreciate it. I did my parents party between their two birthdays (July 23 and Sept 27th) Since you are starting early and aren't inviting a lot of people, I would think Thanksgiving would work well. That gives time for people to adjust their schedules.

2. I love surprising people. I surprised my DH with a cruise on his 40th birthday -- went by his office (after planning with his boss) picked him up, and off to the airport we went. If your parents like surprises, I would stay with it as a surprise.

3. Location may depend on what vendors are working on Thanksgiving weekend. If the Church has a nice reception area, I would use it, and just have music playing in the background. I wouldn't go the DJ/band route with a small intimate party. If you decide not to do the vow renewal, then I would do a party in a restaurant that has a party room.

4. Has your mom ever talked about a vow renewal? Is she the type that would really like one? Although I absolutely loved my reception, it was the vows that meant the most to me, and I'm always telling my DH that I'd like to do a vow renewal.

If you do decide to do it, start looking now for old pictures that you can use for invitations and/or posters around the room.

WHATEVER you decide, you are a great daughter for doing it!

I would love someone to pick me up and wisk me off on a surprise cruise - that would be awesome.

Well, the towels are dry, the pot's washed, and I need to hit the hay. If I don't manage to sneak in a little time to post tomorrow at work, have a great holiday everyone. I'll "see" you all either late Monday night or Tuesday night.

Just checking in.. I tried yesterday and I kept getting that the server was busy and I gave up.

I feel so much better today. That acne spray worked wonders :rotfl: I can't believe I admitted to it. I must sound like a loon to you all. Wouldn't be the first time people thought that!

Denise, How I wish we were all closer. Remember that you have the love and support of everyone here. :wizard: :wizard: for Rees' procedures tomorrow.

Paula, Can't wait to see the Hot Military Chick and Dude. Have fun! How's Bethie feeling?

Theresa, Did you find airfare? Hope it all works out. And if you need someone to pick you up from DC National, I will volunteer my DH. He knows DC like the back of his hand as he worked downtown up until 2 weeks ago. Congrats to Cassidy! :cheer2:

Deb, Glad to know your finger is feeling better and that your checkup went well. I have to make appt but am considering changing Dr's. My current one is always a 3 hour ordeal with the drive there, the waiting, and the drive back. Who cares what your SIL thinks. My girlfriend made a comment one time about not being able to make homemade pancakes because she worked outside the home and just didn't have the time. ***! Yet at the time, I took care of her daughter and 5 other kids. Like I am sitting home doing nothing all day! Some people just never get it.

Beth, Congrats on the weightloss!

Jennifer, Good luck on the studying, I mean cramming. I know you will do fine.

Amy, Alyssa is just too cute for words! Glad to hear the Dr appt went well. Twins, wow! ;)

Anyone else I'm missing.. :wizard: :cheer2: :grouphug:

I really need to help Eric pack, he and Emma are headed to Boston for the weekend. I cannot wait until tomorrow night. My mom agreed to take Molly from then until Sunday morning. My house is feeling the affects of neglect. It is just impossible to clean or get rid of stuff with everyone here.

DL will be out for me next year. We moved our WDW trip to January due to a wedding in August. I am bummed that we now don't get the free dining but love the fact that it will be cool and a lot less crowded!
Have a nice alone weekend. :goodvibes

Amy :)

P.S. We're about 40 minutes behind on American Idol (watching Elliott and Mary J. Blige right now) so PLEASE don't tell me who wins until approximately 10:30 p.m. I know, I know, I should just get off the computer!

P.P.S. Who else CAN'T WAIT to see Pirates 2?!! Matthew better hold off until after July 7th. Johnny Depp!!!!!
Definitely hope to catch that one in the theatres instead of waiting for video rental. :)

Nick had his 4th grade band concert tonight. This is their first year and I must say that they have come a long way since September. He are a couple of photos of him before the concert.
He played the snare, bass drum and tamborine tonight.

Deb

ETA: I just realized that Hunter is the kid walking into the building in the second photo.
He looks handsome. Isn't it neat to hear how far they have come in a year. :goodvibes Congrats Nick.

Hi all! I got all caught up. I've been really busy getting things ready for our camping trip this weekend (I'll be away Friday to late Monday - don't make me read 100 or more pages when I get back :) ). Welcome back to the May 18ers - it sounds like you all had a great time. I got back a little while ago from shopping, and guess what I bought? Yep - Crocs!! I wore them out of the store, and while I was grocery shopping, and I still have them on (with socks). I felt like I was running around town in my bedroom slippers. They are so light!! I'm going to take them on the camping trip and wear them as bedroom slippers, shower shoes, laze around the campsite shoes. Lots less to pack! I'll take them on our Virginia Beach trip in August, too, but I won't know until after that what the verdict will be about wearing them around Disney. If they feel as good after doing a lot of walking on the boardwalk at VA Beach, I'll take them to Disney with me and give them a go, but I won't leave my SAS shoes behind. They're wonderfully comfortable, too.

:grouphug: for Denise and Rees tomorrow.
Have fun camping. :sunny: Hope you have all good weather.

I forgot to mention something exciting (to me anyway). On Monday the managing partner sent out an email to the entire staff that they had decided to give us July 3rd as a holiday so we'd have a 4 day weekend. I had already put in for a vacation day for that day, so since I won't have to use a vacation day, I added a day to my free dining trip. :) :) :cheer2: I'm now leaving August 30 instead of 31. When I went to change my air, there was, of course, a $50 change fee. However, the fare had gone down by $30 each way, so I ended up with a credit of $20 instead of having to pay more! pixiedust: I was also able to get the exact time I wanted for dinner that night (7:30 p.m. at Whispering Canyon). I thought with that time we'd have enought time in the Magic Kingdom for a travel day, then we could see the electrical water pageant after dinner, watch wishes from just outside the Magic Kingdom and then get on the bus for the hotel before the crowds. I'm going to have to change my ticker, but that will have to wait until I come back from the camping trip. I'm in double digits :dancer: :dancer:
:cheer2: Yay. I still haven't found airfare for our trip. I think when SW releases dates past Sep. 12 we might find some. Have fun planning.

Our town did a townwide tax reappraisal on all properties. We just were assessed 3 or 4 years ago so I didn't think too much about it. Our appraisal went from $161700 to $251900 :scared1: I certainly hope that the tax rate doesn't go up as drastically. They have no idea how the rate will change based on most properties assesing higher. The good news is that we have a ton more equity in our home, but the drawback it that it could really hurt the old pocketbook. I think I'll make an informal appeal that way I can go in and find out what criteria they used. My brother's house went up too, but we now assess higher than him and he has more square footage and he finished his upstairs and added a bonus room :confused3 Chris was psyched that our house is worth a quarter of a million dollars. I liked us assessing lower as we have no plans to move EVER so I'd like to stay low. :teeth:

Deb
:wizard: I hope you get the assessment sorted out. I don't think I would want to pay all the extra taxes either.

Ok, I missed AI. Jacob developed a migraine, and began throwing up again. I spent most of the evening holding him, cleaning up after him, and trying to get some aspirin down his throat. He's finally asleep now, and I missed the whole thing. Can someone PM me with the results? I could wait 25 minutes for the news to tell me, but I'm sure someone here will let me know sooner!
:grouphug: Poor kid. Migraines are such a hard thing. :wizard: I hope he gets better soon.

I am lucky to say that I designed our house. It is a very practical house that has 4 bedrooms and a greatroom which we spend most of our time in. We built 5 1/2 years ago. Chris has his own workshop/garage which he would like to add on to, but we have enough land that we can do that. The town that we live in has no zoning so we can build whatever we want whenever we want with no permits required. Can't beat that.

Deb
Neat. I have a whole bunch of ideas of what I would like in a house based on how our family lives.
