I forgot to mention something exciting (to me anyway). On Monday the managing partner sent out an email to the entire staff that they had decided to give us July 3rd as a holiday so we'd have a 4 day weekend. I had already put in for a vacation day for that day, so since I won't have to use a vacation day, I added a day to my free dining trip. :) :) :cheer2: I'm now leaving August 30 instead of 31. When I went to change my air, there was, of course, a $50 change fee. However, the fare had gone down by $30 each way, so I ended up with a credit of $20 instead of having to pay more! pixiedust: I was also able to get the exact time I wanted for dinner that night (7:30 p.m. at Whispering Canyon). I thought with that time we'd have enought time in the Magic Kingdom for a travel day, then we could see the electrical water pageant after dinner, watch wishes from just outside the Magic Kingdom and then get on the bus for the hotel before the crowds. I'm going to have to change my ticker, but that will have to wait until I come back from the camping trip. I'm in double digits :dancer: :dancer:
:cheer2:  :Pinkbounc :bounce: for the extra day

Can I get some advice please?

My parent's 40th wedding anniversary is Dec. 17 and I would like to do something for them.
Feel free to make any suggestions. I really need some input.

We threw my grandparents a celebration for their 50th. We tried to keep it a secret, but they started to 1. plan their own and 2. wonder why no one seemed to care. We had to tell them in the long run.
I see no problem having the party over Thanksgiving weekend. Families will already be together, maybe start mentioning it to some people and see what they think (the ones that will be attending that is!)
If it was me, I'd ask them about the vow renewal, and keep the reception a suprise. If they say yes to the renewal, I'm sure thier church might mention that "they are full" for all days they might want to do it, except for the day around Thanksgiving. Then afterwards, suprise for the reception....
I don't know, I'm just thinking of ideas out loud...

On a side note: Contact your State Rep via website to see how you can get congratulatory letters from them to help your parents celebrate their anniversary. My grandparents got one from the State Reps, senators, and the prez...

I know for the President you have to write to the white house greeting or something like that.

The information for requesting a greeting card from the White House (this one is for a birthday card, but it's the same for anniversaries) is below. However, I think that anniversaries have to be 50 years or more.

BIRTHDAY WISHES FROM THE WHITE HOUSE

To arrange for a free White House birthday card for someone age 80 or older signed by the President, fax ([202] 456-2461) or write a request to The White House Greetings Office, OEB, Room 39, Washington, DC 20037. Make sure you include your name and daytime telephone number, and the birthday, age, name (include the title, such as Mr., Mrs. or Dr.), and address of the senior citizen who is celebrating his or her birthday.

The request must be received four to six weeks before the senior's birthday, and you can only request one White House card per year.

I got a nice surprise when I opened my mailbox. #1: no bills and #2: two postcards - one from my DDA friends and the other from Pal Mickey. This was me: :cool1:

I sent to Kate earlier my contact information so I won't miss out on the postcards next time. Maybe now I will get one from DC.

Ok, hair question! :teeth:

I am thinking about coloring my hair. Nothing drastic, but I have something in mind a bit different than my natural color.

I've had it 'colored' several times in the past, with highlights and lowlights, but this is too freaking expensive to keep up when the only reason I do it is to change the overall look anyway (I think). But as far as all-over color, I'm clueless!

My question is this -- I was going to do it when I go for a haircut right before the cruise (the day we leave). Then someone told me I might want to wait until after, because the sunlight, chlorine, saltwater, etc can't be good for color-treated hair... so I should wait and give it the best chance for "survival" for my money :rotfl:

Any thoughts? Should I wait? I'd rather have it done for pictures, etc but I also don't want to mess it up.

Hi, all.

We just got home. Rees did very well today, and I was so proud of him. He had the ultrasound at 9am this morning, but didn't get taken for the Endoscopy until 2pm. It was a really long day for him. As far as weight, Rees has lost another pound in one weeks time.

After the Endoscopy, the surgeon said the esophageal Diverticula was very small and the Fundo actually looked fine. However, on the Abdominal Ultrasound, they found that Rees' gallbladder is completely full of bile "sludge". The surgeon said it indicated an Acute Gallbladder, meaning the symptoms appear suddenly. A gallbladder attack mimics all the symptoms Rees has been having. So, on June 5 (unless something else changes) Rees will have surgery to remove his gallbladder and clean out all the bile ducts. The surgeon will try to do it laparoscopically if he can. Rees will spend one night at Egleston Hospital and have a week recovery at home. John and I are so hopeful that this may be the solution to Rees' pain.

Thank you all so much for the emails, calls, and prayers. We will keep you updated as we find out anything else.

Denice,
I am so glad that things went well for Rees today. Hopefully the Dr. will be able to do the gallbladder surgery laproscopically. Your right gall bladder does mimic all of His problems he has been having. Hopefully this will be the cure.
Continued prayers, :wizard: and :grouphug:

Wouldn't it be wonderful if it was something as "simple" as his gallbladder!!
All of my house will continue to pray for your household.

We need to beef that boy up!! Does he or any of you all have anything that you can't eat. If anyone deserves Amy's famous cookies it's Rees!!

Aren't you coming to DC?!?!?! It would seem silly to send you a postcard!!

I got the addresses from the contact list and Vicki had some to help me out with - if I had started organizing myself sooner I would have tried to track down the missing addresses - but since I did them the night before I left, I just didn't have time!!

Jen - the hats have 2006 on them and I don't remember seeing any graduation stuffed animals

Thanks for the postcard May 18thers!!! It was nice to be remembered! And it's going up on my filing cabinet at work. :teeth:

Denise - Glad to hear it's not worse than it is. You and the rest of the family are on our prayer list.

Claire - Thanks for telling me to be cheeky! I got two hats for $9 instead of $8 each!!! Now I just have to wait three days for the next auction to clear (which is still only at my lovely bid of .01 cent) but I still have three days for that to go up some; and then I can get the last shirt and I'm good to go for MNSSHP!

Denise - I'm so glad that Rees handled this well, today! Interesting that it's the gallbladder. I guess in the long run the gallbladder is better than the Fundo, right? At least the gallbladder can't grow back! I'm so hoping that this surgery will do the trick for Rees!

I will be in DL on June 5, but I'll be thinking about you and praying for Rees. Let me know if there's anything I can do for you!

Denise, that is such good news (ironically). This gallbladder surgery seems like a much easier procedure with a shorter recovery... I pray that it solves Rees' most recent problems and pain (and hopefully that they can successfully do it laparoscopically!!). Thanks so much for keeping us posted! :grouphug:

Denise,

My continued prayers for you & Rees. Hope all goes well & they can do it laproscopically. :wizard:
