:worship: :worship: I bow to all of the women of the DDA. You are the most remarkable bunch of women that I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am amazed daily by how much each of you accomplish and how much you do for your families, whether a stay at home mom or working outside the home you are all head and shoulders above most of the women that are in my life.

A couple of you posted about having a house keeper. I used to be a house cleaner. I had my own business (great money). I really enjoyed cleaning other peoples homes because I didn't have to do thier laundry and everything was already put away. I went in and dusted, vacuumed, mopped and cleaned the bathrooms. They always looked so good when I left. The hardest part here is the laundry and picking up. The rest is icing on the cake so to speak. It's good to hear how people juggle working and home life. I am always wondering how I will do it all in a couple of years, yet I look forward to finally having some sort of career rather than just a job.

:cheer2: :cheer2: DDA Women :cheer2: :cheer2:

Deb
I know the laundry amasses quicker than my washer can wash it. I pick up a room go into another and the kids drag stuff out in the first room. :badpc: So our house never looks like it did before all the kids were born. :confused3 But I try to remember they'll be grown soon and than I'll miss tripping over a Hot Wheel in the middle of the night or finding a lego in the dishwasher (My preschooler thought it looked dirty). But, definitely :cheer2: to all you guys who manage to take care of your kids and house. I have to say I admire how creative everyone is and how much you do. :thumbsup2

I am forewarning you all that I will more than likely not be on from this afternoon until Monday morning , maybe later. My sister and her family are on their way from New Mexico!! I get to see my nephews and have a busy weekend planned with them.

Abi was part of a Super selling troop for cookie sales and so she received 2 free tickets to Six Flags for tomorrow. :cheer2:
We then paid $40 for two more and it includes parking and lunch so we are going for most of the day there as my sister goes to see other grandparents.
We are going to the ball game with them Sunday afternoon.

My grandma is playing the "o poor me" card. She keeps saying I hope they have time to see me, when are they going to see me. My sister isn't leaving until Tuesday, leaving all day Monday for just Grandma. (Can you tell the woman is getting on my last nerve? :confused3 )

ETA: (This is post 2112 so symmetrical almost makes me want to stop posting right now for the weekend. ALMOST :teeth: )
:cheer2: WTG Abi and have lots of fun with your sister and nephews this week-end.

Have a blast!

I've always wanted to go on a cruise but don't know quite what to expect. Not sure Chuck would enjoy it so it has stopped me pursuing it. I need to know what kinds of things are available on board and what kinds of things you do when you dock at the different locations. I also need to know how expensive the extras are on shore. I had told Chuck before that I wanted to go on one for our 25th anniversary which is next year but I'll have to research it more.

The navigators (I think I saw someone else suggest this while this screen was loading) tell a TON, and you can download a few on these boards and dcltribute.com

The cruise forum is really great, too... they are very friendly and there's a TON of info there!

We leave for DL at 5:00 Sunday morning. Our plan is to drive through, stopping in Vegas for lunch and a run into the Disney outlet store, and then on to our hotel. We have ressies at Rainforest Cafe at 7:30 in the evening, so I'm hoping we get there early enough to shop in DD as there are several items I need to pick up. I can't wait!!!!! I'm so excited to be going with Alan and no kids. We did this on our honeymoon, and had such a great time! It will be nice to do it again, now!

Have fun, Glynis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone! Thanks to my FANTASTIC husband, I had a few minutes to catch up!!

The NCLEX is done at least  I'm pretty torn on it. I mean, I think I passed for one (fairly safe assumption) reason. It cut off at 75 questions. You can most certainly fail in 75 questions, but I'm told it gives you the beneft it of the doubt and lets you keep testing until you REALLY prove you're incompetent if tha'ts the case. Most people that stop at 75 pass. However..... the questions sucked. You know when you get something narrowed down to two choices and guess? Well that was like 70 of the 75 questions :rotfl: It didn't take an hour even though, so that was nice. I'll let you all know when I find out (in the next few days).

As far as the other thing going on, DDA prayers are reigning it in a bit anyway. Continued thoughts would be greatly appreciated, but I feel confident enough to at least tell you what's up, with one thing happening already this morning!

In mid-May ..... we bought a house!!! I didn't mention it here because of all the bumps we hit along the way with the mortgage. I was terrified something else was going to go wrong, so I didn't really want to focus on it much (anymore than I already was IRL). Even until today, we hadn't got a straight answer on our closing information. Pretty much, people are stupid. When we set a closing target date (June 9th), it was suggested by the people involved, knowing darn well about our trip. Now all of a sudden they are freaking out that we won't be accessible up until the day before.... so I'm a little nervous.

We did finally hear this morning that we have an appointment set up for the 9th at 10:00am. My mortgage guy was working his butt off to have everthing finalized a week early (today) so that he would not have to contact us at all during the cruise (and make us spend even more money and time trying to communicate via email). We're still waiting on his call, but I know he's doing his best. And the financing was preapproved, so there shouldn't be any problems... but it will be nice to know it's 100% completed and awaiting our return.

So I'm supposed to have my entire house packed, plus the cruise stuff (and hope they don't get mixed up), plus take this test this morning, take my sister's homeschool team to their Olympic day (which thankfully got rained out and rescheduled  ) so I was pretty much pulling my hair out yesterday.

But while I was gone, Kyle got up early and packed virtually EVERYTHING here for the house!!!!!!!!!!!!! He's great :teeth: So I have a few errands to run, and need to double check the cruise stuff, but then I should be all set.

So if you want to continue praying, just pray that we have no surprises waiting for us when we come back. It's still a little scary knowing that we come back less than 12 hours when we're supposed to meet, and who knows what could happen before then!!!! We're pretty thrilled about the house though.

So that's that. I'll check in again either later tonight or tomorrow morning before we leave. Talk to you then!
How exciting. :cheer2: Congrats on the house and the GREAT DH. and :wizard: that there are no more bumps on the way. Have a fun trip.

Bon Voyage, Jen! We were docked next to the Disney Wonder once and the Magic another time. When the ship is leaving the dock, instead of an ordinary ship's horn, it plays "When You Wish Upon a Star." The Disney details at work!

Glynis, have a great time at DL. Ride that little storybook boat ride for me. I just love it - miniatures have always been a favorite of mine. I love the Matterhorn, too.

Absolutely! The Storybook Land Canal Boats are one of my favorites. I love to ride it at dusk when the lights in the little cottages and castles are lit. It looks so magical!

I love the Matterhorn, too. It's always fun for a bumpy ride!

Are you allowed store bought treats or are the things in the goodie bags non-edible? I heard that starting in September, our schools are going to have strict policies in effect for food. We are not going to be allowed sweets, anything with over a certain percentage of fat, etc.

Beth
Wow, not even for birthdays or holiday parties. That takes the fun out of things. I want my kids to eat healthy but holiday and birthday treats aren't gonna kill them. :confused3

I hope you have a terrific time. Do you know what kind of camera you are getting?

I have no idea. Alan is the camera guru. All I ask is that it be simple enough for me to deal with, as I'm the one that uses it the most. Alan wants a really nice one, hopefully we can compromise!

I wish our schools started a foreign language early. Ours don't start until 8th grade.

Beth
Yep I started in 7th grade. I was thinking about a foreign language program like Muzzy for the kids as I think it is so much easier to learn when your younger. I took Spanish and French but I mix them sometimes so a sentence could have a French subject and spanish verb. :rotfl:

Right back at ya, Jennifer! I can't wait to hear all about the cruise. It's something I've always wanted to do! I don't think I'll ever be able to talk Alan into a Disney cruise, but he did mention today that he wanted to cruise Alaska and fish for salmon. Perhaps one day!

Have a wonderful trip Jennifer & relax!!!!!!! Try not to stress about the house situation while you are gone! Have fun in the :sunny: !

I have a feeling Bill won't have the surgery until the knees completely collapse..which by the way I think is an awful .so instead of elective surgery...you are now having emergency surgery!
DH's mom had one done electively but then waited for the other to give out and ended up with it being urgent. Her recovery seemed quicker and easier with the elective one.

Well all, alot has gone on since I was last here. I guess moving and getting married are the biggest. I no longer live in Ohio. I now live in North Carolina. We moved about 3 months ago. I just got married a week ago today. For the longest time I didn't have internet access so that was rough. Getting everyone settled, the kids in new schools, finding a house, things have been really crazy. We still don't have all our stuff moved...like I said, crazy!! I still won't be back on the DIS full time yet, but I should be able to pop in more often. I gotta lot of catching up to do. Hope everyone is doing well!!

I'm off to take Becky to the eye doctor to get her glasses adjusted and then drop her off at a friends for the week-end. Chuck & I are going camping tomorrow morning with just the two of us but we'll also have the house to ourselves tonight. However, I'm not sure how that is going to go as we are not speaking to each other right now. Sure hope that we start speaking before our anniversary on Monday! :confused3
:guilty: :grouphug: I hope the air gets cleared tonight. :wizard: for your week-end.
