Yesterday was his actual birthday, so we had cake and presents at home with just the family. Since his third birthday, his requested cake has been chocolate cake with strawberries on top. Last year, he wanted them to be choclate-covered strawberries. I got a little fancy dipping the berries this year.

It's been a busy few days around here. Things always start to get crazy in May as the last concerts of the year, etc. are squeezed in.

Saturday was Miles' birthday party for his friends. We had it at the local gymnastics center with "Magical Inflatables" which are huge inflated animals for the kids to play in. They start the party with some gymnastics: tumbling, trampoline, and rings. Then they inflate the Inflatables and let the kids go crazy (within reason). Finally, we had a room for cake and presents.

This is the cake that I made for that birthday party.

And here is the birthday boy on the rings.

Yesterday, I sent cupcakes in to his classroom. This may be the last year that I can do that. The school district is writing a healthy foods policy that will prohibit sweets/fats and limit classroom celebrations to once a month. Ignore the Easter themed cupcake paper. Even the best moms occasionally forget that they are out of the regular papers. Since I was baking around midnight, running out for more wasn't really an option. I doubt the kids even noticed.

hmm I thought you might say that... here's why I was asking.

I went to NYC for a few days in September a couple of years back. Two days after I got home I had what I thought were mosquito bites on my knee and my ankle. The next day I woke up with itchy bumps all up my legs and on my arms. I thought I had chicken pox and went to the docs but he said they weren't. Said he'd never seen anything like it... nothing in his text books... had a blood test that came back negative... the bumps lasted a few days and we're really itchy...

To this day I still have no idea what they were... some mystery American illness I bought home... or something was eating me... just wondering if this could have been it...
What were you doing in new york. did you go to any parks and sit on the grass? DId you eat anything new. They like to crawl on you around your socks.
one leg has them at the sock line. the other has them on my thigh. started on the top and is now on the back side plus a little higher.
But now I am starting to itch all over. I had what is called fooiculitis a few years ago which is a stap infection of the hair folliciles. took Antibotics and it went away. I have a Dr. Appointment tomorrw morn to see what is going on.

I bought three pairs of sleep shorts and three t-shirts to make him some summer pajamas. I think that they came out cute. It was also a chance to play around with the transfers before I make all of our Disney shirts for August. I couldn't find any Disney sleep shorts, but he liked the ones that I bought.

So, that is why I haven't been around much lately.

Beth

Nope no grass sitting, just usual tourist things and lots of shopping!... I did just try and find some pictures on google and I don't think it will have been those, mine looked just like mosquito bites really rather that pimples that might burst... wish I'd thought to take a picture of me!

Hope it all goes ok at the docs and :wizard: the itching stops soon

Well we just finished watching last night's AI - I downloaded it this morning as we'll be at the movies on Friday night when it airs on TV.

All I can say is, I think one person is definately through and it's 70/30 on the other person... but I know who I want in the final!

I'm going to download the results tomorrow and we'll watch them at some point in the day.

Feel free to discuss the results tonight - I'll just catch up on the thread after I've seen the show :) I feel bad that you guys have to speak in code for my sake!

I'll probably do the same next week - just because I'll be eager to find out who won! :rotfl:

Well it's only 9pm but I think I'm going to head to bed... I've been up early for the last 5 days to get my assignments done and it's really taken it out of me.

Ooo it's May 18 tomorrow!!! Have a great trip Kate Tammi and Kristine - and Marti Paul and Matthew and anyone else who's going to the world this weekend (I'm tired my brain cells are fading!) Remember to take lots of pictures and Kate - don't forget to pack Pal Mickey!!!!

I'll miss you all while you're gone - can't wait to read the trip report.

:)

Those look amazing, so professional. I'm craving chocolate covered strawberries now.

So the 18th is almost here. I'm sure that all the travellers are busily packing and finishing up last minute things. I hope you all have wonderful weather and a marvelous trip. Take lots of pictures and keep up updated. I can't wait for the trip reports. I expect that you will all give us a personalized trip report just to make sure that everyone was on the same trip ;)

Anyone that has seen the weather and news reports this week know that New England has taken it pretty hard with the never ending rain. Many towns around us are underwater and lots of evacuations have been made. We thankfully live in a higher area and our property has a lot of gravel so we are not having difficulties here with flooding or water in our basement. It is quite depressing though to have had rain everyday, all day for over a week. Today the sun did shine a bit, but it is raining again now. I haven't even emptied our camper from last weekend as I don't want to do it in the rain. I've been bringing in wet laundry daily in hopes to some day get it all washed.
I have been suffering from unexplained pain this week too. I had incredible pain in my right arm yesterday and really couldn't use my arm at all. The night before my right leg had some pain. I was going to the doctors this morning if things weren't better, but I woke up feeling much better. Periodically throughout the day I have had pain in either arm and my legs. I am thinking that this must be some kind of weird viral thing as I haven't done anything to injure myself. I never thought that I would say I'm glad I'm not going to Disney soon, but the way I've been feeling would not make for an enjoyable trip.

Beth --

Great job on the cakes, cupcakes, party and pj's. You have been very busy and it all looked wonderful! Thank you so much for sharing.

Deb I hope the pain in your arm goes away soon. Hopefully you will have some sunshine that will stay for a day or two soon.

Deb-

It sounds like you need some major :sunny: in your life.

Can you still make an appointment with the doctor? It sounds like you need to go, though I don't know if I would want to go out in the crud you all have been having.

Wow, that looks like a fun place for a party! Your cake looks great. Hope you & Miles had a great time.

The strawberries look so professional & I love the p.j's you made.

Deb,

Hoping your feeling better. If you feel like that again please go to the Dr. asap. You have to take care of yourself so you can take care of your family. We had alot of that rain this week too not as bad as up in new england but it was so dreary, rainy, & cold for a week..today it was sunny but now the clouds are coming back in & they predict rain for the weekend here in NY.

:wizard: :wizard: For you to feel better!!!

Deb -- I'm so sorry to hear that you've been having these pains. Please take care of yourself. I'd reconsider making a doctor's appt.

Here's hoping some :sunny: comes your way.

Deb, I agree with the others, make that doctor appointment.

Although could it be you just over used your muscles while on you camping trip?

WTG Clare!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: Now to celebrate!!! party: party: party:

My assignments are in :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

The last two were really hard as the questions were so badly worded, and every time we asked for clarification we got a different anwer, so I'm not sure the tutor even knows what his own question means!

But I did the best I could and they've been sent - so its not worth worrying about them now until I get the results back! :teeth:

So I'm now going to enjoy what's left of my week off without being glued to my laptop... pity the :sunny: has just left and the rain has returned :rotfl:

And we just got two lovely new sofas delivered - gotta go help DH saw the other two up so that we can get them out of the house and take them to the tip :)

:yay:

I AM SO JEALOUS!

...of you May 18thers! I can't wait for my trip! But I do love living Disney trips through others!
Have a blast! I'll try not to wish all the rain to Florida (though it did rain there yesterday) and send us emails from Mission Space!
