Glynis, congrats to your friend on another baby. Sorry I can't help with ideas, and no I don't think it odd that you ask here instead of the neighbors.

Ok all you creative types:

My really good friend just found out she is having a girl after 4 boys. Can we say EXCITED!!!! She is just over the moon, happy about it. Anyway, I'm throwing her a shower at the end of June, and I want it to be really nice. I need ideas for refreshments, party favors, games that aren't too embarrassing for her, etc. Let me have all your recipes, ideas, etc.

Thanks in advance. (Is it totally odd that I come here with my requests instead of asking people right on my own street?)
What wonderful news! I can imagine how excited she is. Heck, I was thrilled with a girl after just one boy, let alone 4!!

I don't have any advice other than everything should be pink and all about girls!!!

I agree that the DDA kids are pretty amazing. I think it is because they all have pretty amazing moms!!

As far as the packing goes, I haven't even started. I need to print off Kate's list that I stole and make sure I have everything. Tomorrow is going to be spent getting everything ready, after Alyssa's end of the year party at preschool. Does everyone have their requests in to Kate on what we are to bring back??

Thanks for all the good wishes! I am getting SO EXCITED!!!! and my kids are pushing me out the door!! They can't wait for Grandma to come get them!! They don't even care I am going to Disney World without them - which just proves how much Grandma must spoil them!!!!

I just printed said packing list after taking out the things I don't need for the kids and making a to do list - I am also trying to decide which 4 square design I want

I have to finish ironing on all my shirts
clean my house
finish the laundry
airbrush tan tomorrow

and like Tammi said - let me know if you want anything

jen (Tink2020) - do you want the HCOE dvd's and do you still need the ears?

Julia is devastated:

our TIVO got full and deleted a few things to make room for new stuff -

it deleted High School Musical -

thank goodness it comes out on DVD next Tuesday!!!

Definitely! I'm planning on chocolate covered strawberries and grapes, some kind of pink punch (non-alcoholic), veggie and fruit trays, and I want some kind of finger sandwiches too. I'm also planning on getting pink and white M&M's from a specialty shop here.

Any other ideas?

Poor Julia! At least she won't have to wait very long!

I didn't know that TIVO could get full! There's so much about technology that I don't understand. I'm your basic "point and click" girl.

Could you bring back some Cosmic Ray's rotisserie chicken? :teeth:

That is absolutely horrible!!!

We are counting down the days until it comes out on DVD. I am thinking it will be a good end of the year gift.

For those of us who have Build a Bear stores near us:

This Saturday be one of the first 200 (at each store from what I can tell) and make and outfit a Build a Bear animal to be given to Ronald McDonald houses around the world.

I am going Saturday!!!!

Ok all DDA bakers, I wannna cheat so give me all your Dump Cake recipes please. :)

No - a person is actually going to spray paint me!!!! I am not real sure how it works - I just hope I am not orange on Thursday

and if I am Jen and Julie are in BIG trouble!! :rotfl:

There will be no waiting for the DVD here!! She called her daddy SOBBING her little heart out - the only way we could calm her down was to remind her that it would be on DVD next week!

Wednesday's the last day of school, well really Thursday is but Cassidy is going to Six Flags and Abi only has a half day of getting to know next years teacher. So they only have to wait one day to get the DVD. All friends who have stayed over since taping High School Musical have been asked the same thing, "Have you seen it? Wanna watch it?" I am surprised it hasn't been worn out yet!!

Here's the weekend camping trip report.

We left here at 3 PM, as soon as the boys got off the school bus. We hit rain off and on all the way to the campground. It stopped raining for a long enough time when we arrived and we were able to stay relatively dry while setting up. We got a brief shower around 5 PM, but it cleared up pretty nicely and we were able to have our group campfire. Since at 8 PM some families were still arriving we didn't finish all the skits and songs until around 9:30 PM. Most of the family hurried off to bed at that time. I was not at all tired so my family and a couple of other families sat by the campfire until almost midnight. It was very relaxing the skits were so much fun. It really was a great time. We had rain during the night and apparently it poured while many of the tenters were preparing breakfast. We came out of our camper around 9 AM and it wasn't raining. The mini golf tournament was at 9:30 AM. We had 9 teams made up of the Scouts along with various family members. The groups were mixed up pretty well although somehow my Mom and Chris ended up on Nick's team with one of the other siblings. They won the tournament. It was fun and we got to spend time with people that we probably wouldn't have. We went back to camp and made our lunches. At 1 PM the scouts went on and orienteering treasure hunt. They had to use maps, compasses and follow directions to find the treasure. It was pouring, but they still had fun (I got a 20 minute nap in with Colby :teeth: ) We had our fishing challenge at 2 PM. It was raining so hard that the fish really weren't biting. Only 3 boys caught one fish a peice. I had 5 prizes and only 3 winners :confused3 Since it was really raining I talked to the campground owner and arranged to use the rec center for the group dinner. We cooked under the porch roof and ate inside. It was nice and most importantly dry. Since I had 2 extra prizes I raced around the campground and came up with clues to a scavenger hunt. We sent the scouts out after dinner and of course 3 boys (actually 3 dads) all came running back at the same time. The had to split the prizes between the 3 boys. We handed out all the prizes and went back to our sites. The rain finally slowed down so we had another campfire with some light rain periodically. Everyone had turned in by 10 PM. We woke up this morning to no rain although everything was still very wet. We packed up and our family played another game of mini golf before heading home. We got home around 1:30 and I had to be to work at 4 PM. Very busy weekend, but lots of fun. People were already talking about next year. I really think that all families had fun and there were no conflicts which makes it a huge success.

Deb
glad you had a great time.

Good morning DDAs! I hope everyone has a great day and here's a :grouphug: and :sunny: to anyone that needs it.

I have an awards ceremony for my youngest, Jake. He's getting his second year of perfect attendance. He's so excited! My older son, Andrew, will hopefully be getting his third year on Thursday during his awards ceremony.

My DH, Randy, is very upset because he can't attend the ceremony this morning. He has a training at work that was set up before he started his new job. Thankfully, we just bought a new video camera so I'll video it for him.

WTG Jake and Andrew :thumbsup2

My kids never get that award, we always travel so much.
DS is next Thursday and DD on Friday

Hi, all. Graduation and the music program were wonderful. Davis got Most Caring, Brantley-Kate got Best Teacher's Helper, and Rees got Most Curious. The IEP meeting went very well too. Got everything we wanted with no problems. He will receive PT, OT, and Speech Therapy. Also will have a Parapro come into his classroom 2 times per day to help him with work.

Oh, and Rees' next tests are on Thursday am at the hospital. I'm sick with bronchitis again, and feeling crummy. So, I'll talk to y'all later. Have a good day!

Good to hear everything went great
Keep us posted on the testing :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:
