Nick has a hard time with the hands and so we taught him to hug PM instead and that seems to be working!!

that is so sweet!! I imagine that flower pot will always hold an extremely special place in your heart now!!
My favorite piece of art in our house is a framed finger painting that Julia did at 3 - Nick keeps asking if he can do one for us - I guess it is time to go back to the art studio!!!
Did you see MI 1 & 2 - I am wondering if I have to see those before I see MI3
triplefigs said:Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. I broke my Mother's Day gift Davis made me on the way out of school Friday. They had painted flower pots (Ed Emberly finger art). He and I both stood in the parking lot of school crying. So, his teacher gave me the paint and today Davis and I painted a new flower pot together. Then they all painted a water dish for it to sit in. It was fun. Went out Friday night (they had a parent's night out at Karate) and John and I saw MI3. I was surprised how good it was. And I can't stand Tom Cruise now, but, DANG, did he look FINE!!!!!!!!! And he rode a motorcycle like in Top Gun (flash back to 1986).
Tomorrow is the kid's graduation from pre-school and then we have Rees' IEP meeting at the Elem School (very formal legal proceeding) at 2:30pm. So wish me luck. It'll be a big day for us.
Talk to y'all soon.

How sweet to do the craft over!! I love homemade gifts too!!
I will be thinking of you all day tomorrow. IEP's are stressful!! I only had to do it twice for Abi's minor problems and they still stressed me horribly. Now we do them for another reason and they still stress me!!
triplefigs said:If you had seen Davis' eyes welling up with big tears and him crying saying I made it for you, Mommy... well, there was no other choice but to make another one. This one is even more special, as Kate said, cause we did it together on Mother's Day. I'll post a pic of the pots tomorrow with the graduation photos. OH, and they are doing a big music program too. I'm sure I'll be crying. after 3 years at this school, I can't believe it's time for them to move on to Kindergarten. We've made lots of good memories there.
julia & nicks mom said:WOW - I think Mother's Day might be quieter than Christmas!! I have something to say... I'm going to DISNEY WORLD THIS WEEK!!!! I can't wait - although Julia hugged and hugged on me today and told me how much she was going to miss me and could she please go with me - she has AWESOME puppy dog eyes - but I stayed strong!!!
Take a very special day to celebratetriplefigs said:Anyone want to help with a birthday poem for their invites? Party will be at one of those Pottery Painting places. Themes are My Little Pony, Jet Airplanes (Rees), and Power Rangers or the Cars movie or Trucks (Davis). Anything cute? It's a group party. They are turning 6.

We left here at 3 PM, as soon as the boys got off the school bus. We hit rain off and on all the way to the campground. It stopped raining for a long enough time when we arrived and we were able to stay relatively dry while setting up. We got a brief shower around 5 PM, but it cleared up pretty nicely and we were able to have our group campfire. Since at 8 PM some families were still arriving we didn't finish all the skits and songs until around 9:30 PM. Most of the family hurried off to bed at that time. I was not at all tired so my family and a couple of other families sat by the campfire until almost midnight. It was very relaxing the skits were so much fun. It really was a great time. We had rain during the night and apparently it poured while many of the tenters were preparing breakfast. We came out of our camper around 9 AM and it wasn't raining. The mini golf tournament was at 9:30 AM. We had 9 teams made up of the Scouts along with various family members. The groups were mixed up pretty well although somehow my Mom and Chris ended up on Nick's team with one of the other siblings. They won the tournament. It was fun and we got to spend time with people that we probably wouldn't have. We went back to camp and made our lunches. At 1 PM the scouts went on and orienteering treasure hunt. They had to use maps, compasses and follow directions to find the treasure. It was pouring, but they still had fun (I got a 20 minute nap in with Colby) We had our fishing challenge at 2 PM. It was raining so hard that the fish really weren't biting. Only 3 boys caught one fish a peice. I had 5 prizes and only 3 winners
Since it was really raining I talked to the campground owner and arranged to use the rec center for the group dinner. We cooked under the porch roof and ate inside. It was nice and most importantly dry. Since I had 2 extra prizes I raced around the campground and came up with clues to a scavenger hunt. We sent the scouts out after dinner and of course 3 boys (actually 3 dads) all came running back at the same time. The had to split the prizes between the 3 boys. We handed out all the prizes and went back to our sites. The rain finally slowed down so we had another campfire with some light rain periodically. Everyone had turned in by 10 PM. We woke up this morning to no rain although everything was still very wet. We packed up and our family played another game of mini golf before heading home. We got home around 1:30 and I had to be to work at 4 PM. Very busy weekend, but lots of fun. People were already talking about next year. I really think that all families had fun and there were no conflicts which makes it a huge success.

I know - I was just worn out reading everything Deb did!!kc10family said:WOW! How fabulous was that! (side note.... will youtake a 30 something y/o daughter with 2 DD of her own into your family so we can have fun like that?)
The only bad thing I read was the home at 1:30 and at work by 4:00. What happend to rest rest rest after a restful weekend of fun with friends and family?
So glad to hear is was a great time.

my3princes said:I know how much planning all the DDAers do for any event that we attend so you will all appreciate this true story. One of the families that went with us had 3 kids. They were tenting and didn't bring their dining canopy with them this year. They only had their tent or their car to get out of the rain. They only brought the outfits that they wore on friday and one other outfit per person. Remember that their was a 60% chance of rain on Friday (it was raining when we left here) and a 100% chance of rain for Saturday. Needless to say they were at the laundry drying clothes after breakfast on Saturday as they got soaked Friday night and making breakfast on Saturday morning. We had one of the kids stay in our camper on Saturday night and I loaned him some of Hunter's dry clothes to wear today as he had nothing dry except his pjs. There were also some families with no rain coats. I was handing out dollar store ponchos as I felt bad for them.
