Very busy weekend, but lots of fun. People were already talking about next year. I really think that all families had fun and there were no conflicts which makes it a huge success.

Deb

Deb - it sounds as if the weekend went very well despite the problems getting it set up and the weather problems. I am so glad you had a good time.

Mother's Day Weekend Report

I had a terrific weekend. Kristin is now home for the summer and on Saturday Kathrin drove up to spend the weekend with us. She showed up with champagne and flowers! The girls and I went shopping Saturday afternoon and then out to dinner at a new Greek place in town that has an outside dining area. Great food and wine had by all. We had a LOT of fun just being silly and talking. After dinner we made Open House Punch and sat in the living room looking at old pictures and reminiscing. Sunday morning we cooked breakfast together and had Mimosas. There seems to be a :drinking: theme here. Went shopping again; a favorite pastime! Bought lots of fun things. My daughters got me a new necklace and a new purse and I bought them new clothes and belts. Again, a wonderful day. All topped off with Papa John's BBQ Chicken and Bacon pizza which I have not eaten since Christmas. (I don't think I should weigh-in tomorrow  ) Kathrin left about 7:00 last night and Kristin and I played the Sims for a while before I had to go to bed. The 2:30 a.m. bedtime the night before really caught up to me! Bob was here too, by the way. He said he was staying out of our way because there was too much estrogen to get through. :rotfl:

I want to thank you all for being such good DDA posters and keeping it down to a minimum this weekend. Sounds like you all had a great time with your families too. That makes me very :goodvibes

Hi Chuck!! You can join the early risers club with me, Elin, Beth and a few others that can't hang with the late-nighters.

Happy belated birthday to Cassidy and Abi. Hope you had fun.

Deb - it sounds like your camping trip was a success. Someday I'm going to have to give it a try.

Denise - I think flower pots must have been the hot gift this year. Nicholas made one in kindergarten for me, and Alyssa's preschool class did the same thing.

I got the best gift this year, aside from the pots. It's an afghan with the kids' picture on it. I will never be able to use it (don't want to ruin it) so it needs to get hung on the wall. I'll post a picture later.

Have a great day!

Oh, and by the way, I leave for WDW in 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys! Off to the shower......off to get ready for school...

Kate - Let me know when you're headed to Cedar Point! Make sure you go on the Top Thrill Dragster, it's awesome (and was well worth the hour and a half wait when we went)! We always go camping at Cedar Point over Labor Day weekend. No one camps that late in Ohio (at least by the lake) and it's rained every time we've gone, but it's a blast!

Denise - I'll be thinking of you and the kids today!

Glad to hear that everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day!

Here's the weekend camping trip report.

We left here at 3 PM, as soon as the boys got off the school bus. We hit rain off and on all the way to the campground. It stopped raining for a long enough time when we arrived and we were able to stay relatively dry while setting up. We got a brief shower around 5 PM, but it cleared up pretty nicely and we were able to have our group campfire. Since at 8 PM some families were still arriving we didn't finish all the skits and songs until around 9:30 PM. Most of the family hurried off to bed at that time. I was not at all tired so my family and a couple of other families sat by the campfire until almost midnight. It was very relaxing the skits were so much fun. It really was a great time. We had rain during the night and apparently it poured while many of the tenters were preparing breakfast. We came out of our camper around 9 AM and it wasn't raining. The mini golf tournament was at 9:30 AM. We had 9 teams made up of the Scouts along with various family members. The groups were mixed up pretty well although somehow my Mom and Chris ended up on Nick's team with one of the other siblings. They won the tournament. It was fun and we got to spend time with people that we probably wouldn't have. We went back to camp and made our lunches. At 1 PM the scouts went on and orienteering treasure hunt. They had to use maps, compasses and follow directions to find the treasure. It was pouring, but they still had fun (I got a 20 minute nap in with Colby :teeth: ) We had our fishing challenge at 2 PM. It was raining so hard that the fish really weren't biting. Only 3 boys caught one fish a peice. I had 5 prizes and only 3 winners :confused3 Since it was really raining I talked to the campground owner and arranged to use the rec center for the group dinner. We cooked under the porch roof and ate inside. It was nice and most importantly dry. Since I had 2 extra prizes I raced around the campground and came up with clues to a scavenger hunt. We sent the scouts out after dinner and of course 3 boys (actually 3 dads) all came running back at the same time. The had to split the prizes between the 3 boys. We handed out all the prizes and went back to our sites. The rain finally slowed down so we had another campfire with some light rain periodically. Everyone had turned in by 10 PM. We woke up this morning to no rain although everything was still very wet. We packed up and our family played another game of mini golf before heading home. We got home around 1:30 and I had to be to work at 4 PM. Very busy weekend, but lots of fun. People were already talking about next year. I really think that all families had fun and there were no conflicts which makes it a huge success.

Deb

Deb -- I'm so glad to hear that ya'll had a great time. I wish you had better weather, but it sounds like you made the best of it and that everyone had a great time. Congrats to you! :thumbsup2

Out here, Mary is quite an uncommon name right now. There are so few of them. I love a name that has family heritage. My Katie is named for several ancestors, my son Jacob Hunter is named for my grandfather Hunter James, and the twins are both named family names: Mary Louise and Leslie Gayle after my husbands' father (Leslie) and my mother (Gayle).

Glynis -- Have you ever seen Mary spelled Merrie? That's the spelling of my boss's name. I've worked for her for 19 years , but had never seen that spelling before then.

Hope everyone had a good Mother's Day. I broke my Mother's Day gift Davis made me on the way out of school Friday. They had painted flower pots (Ed Emberly finger art). He and I both stood in the parking lot of school crying. So, his teacher gave me the paint and today Davis and I painted a new flower pot together. Then they all painted a water dish for it to sit in. It was fun. Went out Friday night (they had a parent's night out at Karate) and John and I saw MI3. I was surprised how good it was. And I can't stand Tom Cruise now, but, DANG, did he look FINE!!!!!!!!! And he rode a motorcycle like in Top Gun (flash back to 1986).

Tomorrow is the kid's graduation from pre-school and then we have Rees' IEP meeting at the Elem School (very formal legal proceeding) at 2:30pm. So wish me luck. It'll be a big day for us.

Talk to y'all soon.

Sounds like you had a great weekend! Much :shamrock: and :wizard: and prayers headed your way for a great day today! :sunny:

Since it's the girls birthday I wanna share the origins of their names!! :teeth:

We literally played the alphabet game for Cassidy Cheyenne. We liked Cassidy and so went through the alphabet game 4 times before we both liked a name. Cassidy told us today she would choose her name for herself.

Now for Abi:

Cassidy told us that I had a baby in my tummy. I told her no I do not, I am just feeling icky. We get confirmation (original estimated due date was early April) and we didn't have to tell her she said "I have baby sister for my birthday." "No, sweetie the baby will be here for your birthday." No convincing her. At the ultrasound we figured out the baby was due in May. No convincing Cassidy that she could have a baby brother. Sister for her birthday!!! So we told her she got to pick the baby's first name. Abigail's middle name is KateLynn, Kate is what my mom wanted to be called as a kid(Kathleen) and Lynn is Jim's mom's middle name. We went through the baby name book and Cassidy would not listen to any names past Abigail  . We had a friend from South America at the time who was an Abi.

That is actually the short story of Abi's name :lmao: sorry!!

Theresa -- sorry I missed it yesterday, but Happy Birthday to Abi and Cassidy! (Clare -- I'm a day late and a dollar short!)

Well, since we are talking about names.....

I was named after a friend of my dad...His last name was Channon. He owned a store in Chagrin Falls called "Channon Office Supply" and Mom finally agreed.

Yes, I was named after an office supply store.

Well I'm off to work. I also finally have the motivation that I need to get my office organized. My cell phone was plugged in on my desk and started beeping when I was gone this week-end. Chuck had trouble locating it. He has told me that he & I are going to take 4 bags into my office and separate the paperwork between personal, work, Girl Scouts & trash. When he volunteers to assist, that's the sign that I better get it done or he'll do it himself!

Kate, I've taken my thank you out of my signature as you requested. Thanks again. I still love looking at it and all the other signatures that you created for us.

Morning all.

Well the lurgy got us again and it wont go away. It’s not really bad, just some sinus stuff, but enough to bother the girls and me.

For the next few days I have one thing to say to you 18th’ers

Thanks for the link Amy. I hope you don't mind but I did a copy/paste of your birthday design for Tia. I am not very creative...............but I did give you credit for it. :0)

Lynn

Lynn -- I second that -- Thanks, Amy, for posting the link. I don't get "out" much these days to see other forums!

Paula -- we are struggling with those same sinus/allergy problems -- did you send them to us?

No, just kidding. Most people around here are really struggling this time of year.

I, too, am GREEN with envy!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day!!! I know I did. It started with breakfast in bed and fresh flowers. Then we all went to church.......Austin received his state bible drill award, Alex sang with the childrens choir, then at the end of the service Alex went down front to say he has been saved and asked to be baptised!!!! What a Sunday!!! Then everyone came over to my house for lunch and lounging by the pool. It was my husband + 4 kids + their 2 spouses + 3 grandkids + my parents + my brother his wife and their 3 kids + my aunt/uncle and her 2 kids + their spouse + their daughter. Let's see.....that makes it 24. All the men got together and planned the menu, cooked or bought the food and even cleaned it up. We had bbq ribs, corn on the cob, cole slaw, potato salad, baked beans, garlic bread, sweet tea, diet coke, chocolate cream pie, lemon pie, turtle pie. All of the mom's sat in the living room and relaxed while the men prepared the meal. We all agreed that there was going to be hell to pay come Fathers Day but we didn't care because we were enjoying our day at the moment.

All the dad's already made their Fathers Day request.......black angus ribeyes, marinated mushrooms, baked potatoes and salad with all the topppings.

This probably explains why I have a weight problem. My family looooooves food.

Lynn
