Nick had a good night last night and his fever is gone - in fact - when I took his temp it was 97.8 -

he told me this morning "I not feel good mommy" so I am not sure he is better yet - he has been pretty crabby but right now is playing nicely with Julia

He was up pretty early so hopefully he will take a good nap this afternoon while his sister is at school!!
:wizard: I hope Nick takes a nap as rest will do his body some good. As for the VBS thing, I would let her know that she seems to have it under control so you will be leaving to visit your sister instead. Good luck with the other control person with the carnival. I can't imagine why she would send you such an email. Some people need to learn when to let go of the reigns. Sounds like she's one of those. How is your knee have you heard form the dr?

All I have to say is....

I hope everyone had a good weekend! We're still working hard trying to get all of the baby stuff cleaned and put away. We got a lot done yesterday but we still have a lot to do. I have so many piles everywhere we can hardly walk through the house!

A word of warning to anyone storing clothes, especially baby clothes. DO NOT store them in mothballs. My SIL loaned me some beautiful clothes when Christopher was born that she had stored in mothballs. I was able to air them out and he wore them a few times. I kept them in case the next child was a boy not realizing that the smell wasn't really gone. Well, I stored them with ALL of Christopher's sleepers that I *would have* been able to re-use with this baby. I looked up how to get the smell on the Internet and read several places that the smell and chemicals can still be toxic even if you can't actually smell it. So...I threw away every bit of clothing that even remotely had the smell. That means tons of sleepers (Christopher had reflux so bad we couldn't keep up with the washing so we had lots and lots of sleepers), onesies, socks, booties, gowns, etc. Plus all of the preemie clothes he wore in the beginning. I could just cry.

Plus, the same SIL offered me some of her daughter's clothes but I'm sure they were packed the same way and so I won't be able to use them :(.

On a positive note, Christopher starts swimming lessons today and we're really excited. He regressed last year so I hope he remembers this year and we get the most out of the next two weeks.

Have a good day everyone!
Sorry to hear about the clothes. That's lousy. I store our clothes in Rubbermaid containers in the closet of DH's office. It was a bedroom so has a nice sized closet. I know how you feel as after our third, I gave away 60% of our baby clothes and the walker and swing. Then Effie came along. This time I'm saving everything until DH gets snipped if ever.

You can go back to black...as I had to cancel already.   Damn cat (who I hate btw) cost me $250 in vet bills after chewing off and eating a third of a shoelace. Add to that the guilt that we need to get Terra to visit family in CA sometime soon...my BIL just misses seeing her so much even if no one else acts like they do (they almost certainly do, he's just the only one other than DH that has held onto his ability to express emotions in their slightly messed up family). The guilt got to me and I decided that I am going to have to cut my losses and cancel. :sad1: I really shouldn't feel bad since I do have two trips planned in the next 10 months, but of course I do. I just don't want to give up my nice long 10 days with free dining and MNSSHP in Oct for the 3 park days I would get now if too many things come up. Sorry to miss you all May 18th-ers...still working on July though.

I am very sorry to hear this, but if you find yourself in the area of Napa or Sacramento, let me know.

Hi, everyone,

I haven't been on since Thursday, but have been reading along as I can, and have been thinking of all of you! Here's some :grouphug: :wizard: for those that have been feeling ill or down. You guys had me :lmao: over some things, which I can use right now. :cheer2: for all those with trips planned. What I wouldn't give to escape to WDW right now!!!!

Just to let you know what's been going on with me - my summer intern program starts in less than 2 weeks, and my new assistant quit on me Saturday. In hindsight, it's somewhat of a blessing, since I don't think she was ultimately going to cut it. Her reason for quitting - she just didn't want to work that hard or have all of this responsibility. In a nutshell, she is someone with a masters degree that wants to sit and file her nails all day and get off at 5 p.m. Definitely not who we need for our department, and also definitely not the way we portrayed the job!!! How could someone hear over and over "the next few months are going to be utter chaos, we need everyone to give 150%, be as efficient as possible, etc.", and think, "oh, but I'll still get off work at 5 everyday, and I can take 3 days to complete a project that should have taken me 2 hours." I don't think I've ever met a more moronic 25 year old!!! :furious:

My favorite comment when she was giving me the news that she was quitting - she said, "remember when I told you that I had decided not to teach?" (She is teaching a college course at our local university this semester, and told us in the interview that after doing that, she discovered that her passion lay more in being in a business environment on a daily basis.) After I responded in the affirmative, she said, "well the real reason I didn't want to be a teacher is that I didn't want to have to do lesson plans at night." :rotfl2:

But, I'm still holding on to the silver-lining in all of this - my former assistant who is now a schoolteacher has agreed to come work with me this summer once she's done with school. It's not a perfect solution, but she's a close friend, is incredibly smart and efficient, and will be of a great help. I think we're going to hold off in the interim on hiring someone else f/t, since I'm not trusting mine or my director's judgment right now!

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest! Hope everyone's day is going better!

Nick woke up crying in the middle of the night about his head - whimpered a lot in his sleep and woke up this morning complaining about it -

We are off to the doctor and I am not leaving until I am satisfied with their answer - something is hurting my little boy!!!
I would do the same thing. Hope you get some answers!

How would you get to early character meals? Take a taxi? Would that be the quickest route? since we'd be saving so much money, maybe rent a van for the week? Or just pay for a taxi those few times? I don't want to have to go the MK and then get a bus to the resorts or go to DTD to catch them.

How long is the boat ride from POR to DTD? Does it run fairly often?
Denise,

Do you have the option of moving to a cheaper room at one of the monorail resorts? We stayed at POFQ and thought the bus transportation was really quick. We had to wait a long time for a boat to DTD once. As far as going from one resort to another, we always drive.

Lindsay I'm sorry she left you in the lurch but it's probably for the better since she didn't want to actually work. I hope your friend works out for you so you can take your time hiring someone new. Good luck!

Hey

the doctor has no idea what is going on and decided to send Nick for a CT Scan - so we headed to Children's Hospital and he was uncooperative and freaked when they put him in the machine so he will have to be sedated - unfortunately he had eaten a few hours before and he has to go 8 hours without eating - so we could wait until tonight to see when they could fit us in or go back tomorrow at 12:30

we decided to wait - I think it is good the doctor doesn't feel the test is urgent - and she told me she really does not expect the test to find anything but she really wants to rule out all the "yucky stuff: (her words) first

I am doing my best to keep the negative thoughts out - but they of course creep in every once in a while

she told me obviously the first concern is a brain tumor with the symptoms - but he does not present as a child with a tumor - his motor skills and function is normal - but she would rather be safe than sorry

So I am in for a long 24 hours as I am sure I will not sleep well - please keep Nick in your prayers!!

Denise -

why don't you stay at POFQ and rent a car

We love having a car - I think you can be to the parks SO much faster than the buses and you are completely on your time frame

It is a very cute hotel and I think the kids would love it! Rees would still get to ride the monorail a lot and you would save the money

Last year I got a 10 day rental for $170

POFQ is nice but doesn't have the trundle bed for the 5th person.

Lindsay, I'm sorry that things didn't work out with your new assistant. Sounds like it's a good thing in the long run, though. You'd hate to be saddled with her when things got really rough!

What does this do to the Hawaii trip? I certainly hope you are still going to be able to go! You really need the down time!

Some :wizard: so you can keep your sanity!!
