HEY DEB -

I think you should make it mandatory that they bring food:

I would send out an email like this:

Dear Lazy Butts

I need exact numbers for people who plan on participating in the group POTLUCK dinner. If you plan on participating, I need to know how many people will be eating and what you plan on bringing. I need each family to bring at least one dish and in addition either wood, .... or .....

Thank you to those who signed up at the meeting. If I do not hear from you by (pick a date 3 days before) I will assume you have decided not to participate in the POTLUCK dinner and will provide your own food for that evening.

Working my butt off for you
Deb

Clearly you might want to do a few edits ;)
and then 5 days before send out a reminder
and then on the deadline day send out a thank you with a head count

Thanks for everyone's thoughts. I ended up sending an email this morning going over the planned schedule of events and including a list of what has been volunteered. I gave a whole speech last night on how hard I've worked for donations etc and that I wanted each family to sign up for 2 items, obviously they don't care. So I'm sticking to my guns. My family will eat and I will not make additional items just to get us by. The rest of the weekend will be awesome as I have taken care of all the details to to he ll with them all. I'm done stressing and moving on. I sent the email out at around 9 AM, it is now 2:30 PM and no one has responded. If they don't care why should I?

Are you going to the Allentown meet? I would like to but my dh said no, lets save all extra money for Disney.

I doubt I'd travel to Allentown for a DIS meet - I might if it were a DDA meet.

ETA: Paul just let me know that the Allentown meet is a big deal. Heidi - do you know where I can get details about this? If I can't go this year, maybe I can learn more about it now for next year.

Oh Jen, I'm so sorry to hear this! Expected or not, it is very hard to lose someone we love. Your family and hers will be in my prayers :grouphug:

I hear you Kate on the crabby kid thing. You too Glynis. I had to take the fight club aka Colby and Logan to a few stores this morning to find rain gear and boots for Nick which he needs for this weekends camping trip. All they did was fight through every store that we went in. No bribe worked. I felt like everyone was watching us. One lady with 3 kids of her own said "I'm glad I'm not the only one". I was so glad to get home and put all three of us down for a nap. My headache is at least gone and the sun is shining so hopefully we'll get outside soon. I do have to work tonight though.

Deb :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Colby is on my lap selecting smilies that I need to use. He likes to look at Tia's Signature. He thinks Terra is cute

Deb :badpc: :confused3 :thumbsup2 :cool1:

Sorry about Alyssa - there's nothing we can say to make it better - but we're here to listen if you need to vent.

Glad you sent an email Deb -- I hope it kicks them into overdrive.

Kate - sorry Nick is such a crab. If I were you - I'd try to nap too!

Catch up with the rest of you later.

Nick is konked out - which is a very good thing

he was very restless last night but only woke up once crying and holding his head - but he never vocalized that he had a headache - so maybe it wasn't too bad - he has not said anything about a headache today :thumbsup2

but he has given me one!!! I can't begin to tell you how crabby he was - Julia came downstairs and he yelled at her to go away - usually in the morning the hug on each other - obviously then she got upset and the day went downhill from there - they have fought over EVERYTHING - part of me wanted to tell her just to give in to him on everything but how fair is that to her - she doesn't understand what is going on and I don't want him to see that screaming got him his way even if he really can't help it

so he screamed - she screamed - I screamed - and so went our morning -

My week has caught up to me and I was so happy to drop her off at school and then he fell asleep on the way home - so I am just listening to the calm

I am praying when he wakes up from his nap he will feel a little better!!!

Here's hoping that the nap will do away with the remaining IV stuff.

Any advice on how to get my 4 year olds to start napping again! I miss those days when I could have 3 hours in the middle of the day to get stuff done! Now, they just won't nap, even though I can tell they need to, and spend the late afternoon cranky and irritable!

Hopefully the headaches will go away on their own. Can we take it as a good sign that he didn't verbalize that he had a headache? We'll cross our fingers.

I hate it when Jacob complains about a headache. That is one of his "tells". Every time he tells me his head hurts, I know that within 15 minutes he will be throwing up. Now when he says it, I hand him an old ice cream bucket and send him to his room where it's quiet and dark!

Hi, all. Just now got on the computer. Glad to hear Nick is ok. Kids did great at their church music concert. Yea, choir is over for the year!

happy B'day, Heidi.

:rotfl2: Denise I can't believe you got ANOTHER stealth milestone :rotfl2:

How do you do that??

Can you teach me? :teeth:

Hi all! I just wanted to share where I went this morning, otherwise known as a very proud aunt moment

My nephew is a pitcher for his high school team and just signed to play college baseball (on scholarship) at McNeese State University here in Louisiana. His signing was at the school this morning. He will play next year as a Freshman and his coach told him he thought he'd be there 3 years then be high enough in the draft to go pro. That's a long way away and anything could happen between now and then, but I'm so proud of and excited for him. He's a great kid!!

Here's his picture:

Why do I always miss all the fun!

I'm trying desperately to catch up... just got back from having my hair all chopped off - and waiting for the pizza hut man to deliver pizza... yum! Gonna be a late night tonight as it's gone 8pm and I'll need to digest it... is that an excuse to stay up and watch last night's lost...?

Dawn Congrats to your nephew!!

Could someone please go get Julia from school so I don't have to wake Nick up from his nap?

That is so cool! He's a very handsome young man!

You'll have to keep us informed so when he goes pro we can all watch him and root for him!

I'd do it, but I think I would have had to leave to pick her up yesterday!

Good luck!

I would, if Alyssa weren't napping too... :goodvibes I hope Nick isn't too cranky when he wakes up!

Deb, good for you for taking a stand with the parents.

Kristine, I hope you sell the house (can you sell ours too????) and I hope your rash/sun poisoning goes away soon.

Jennifer, I'm so sorry about the loss of your friend Alyssa. :grouphug:

Dawn, congratulations to your nephew!

Clare, you can't just write about chopping your hair off...post pictures!

Hello to everyone else! :wave2:

Amy :)

Thank you Kristine! Did you sell the house?

Yes...they are the regular pins from the theme parks...the lowest priced ones were 2.95. Off the top of my head: they had tinkerbell ones with different birthstones, year specific ones..i.e 2005, 2006 celebrations..I saw some Goofy ones...to be honest, they had quite a few...and I didn't pay real close attention.

I had a boy years ago that was actually dropped off at a public building for a meeting and told to find a ride home. She never even walked him in or spoke to anyone. The boy was 8. That was it and I layed down the law. We do have great involvement as long as all they have to do is show up.

Deb

Sounds like some of the mornings I have! Hope Nick feels better when he wakes up :wizard:
