He could head just over the border to Corning NY. Or head down to PA Dutch country. Lots of beautiful places up in the Pocomos :teeth:

:grouphug: I don't think she's mocking you, she just discovered that y'all had something in common. When she goes to visit her cousin next time maybe y'all can have a mini meet.

I am not mocking you- in fact - I don't think I ever had

you said you lived outside San Pedro in your first post and I said my cousin lived in San pedro - so then I wanted to clarify that she really lived outside as well b/c I didn't want you to think I had never been there - b/c if I had - I obviously know it is a ghost town

I am excited we have this in common

it is such a small area -I was trying to see if we had been to some of the same places -

where is your favorite place to go out to eat? I spent six weeks out there with her when we were 19 - so I know my way around - I am sure I have been to most of the restaurants in town!!

is that supposed to be a clue?

Exactly!!

She and I talked about it today - we have decided that the end of June would work best

I would love to meet you then - I am totally open on my dates to go and since it is my goal to meet all the DDA -I will work around when you could meet me!!

Marti -

I did - I golf when I go visit my cousin and was wondering what WDWfanz does for fun

Guys - lets give him a break - I don't know why everyone is so suspicious of our new poster - we always open everyone with open arms - and we should do this now!

I am sure that in time he will feel more comfortable opening up to us!!

Hi DDA! I have a whole lot of pages to catch up on, but I got the following in an email today and thought I would share, since it is sort of the way the DDA is - touching each other's lives.

One day, when I was a freshman in high school, I saw a kid from my class was
walking home from school.

His name was Kyle.

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself, "Why would anyone bring home all his books on a Friday?

He must really be a nerd."

I had quite a weekend planned (parties and a football game with my friends
tomorrow afternoon), so I shrugged my shoulders and went on.

As I was walking, I saw a bunch of kids running toward him.

They ran at him, knocking all his books out of his arms and tripping him so
he landed in the dirt.

His glasses went flying, and I saw them land in the grass about ten feet
from him.

He looked up and I saw this terrible sadness in his eyes

My heart went out to him. So, I jogged over to him and as he crawled around
looking for his glasses, and I saw a tear in his eye.

As I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those guys are jerks.

They really should get lives.

" He looked at me and said, "Hey thanks!"

There was a big smile on his face.

It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived.

As it turned out, he lived near me, so I asked him why I had never seen him
before.
He said he had gone to private school before now.

I would have never hung out with a private school kid before.

We talked all the way home, and I carried some of his books.

He turned out to be a pretty cool kid.

I asked him if he wanted to play a little football with my friends

He said yes.

We hung out all weekend and the more I got to know Kyle, the more I liked
him, and my friends thought the same of him.

Monday morning came, and there was Kyle with the huge stack of books again.

I stopped him and said, "Boy, you are gonna really build some serious
muscles with this pile of books everyday!"

He just laughed and handed me half the books.

Over the next four years, Kyle and I became best friends.

When we were seniors, we began to think about college.

Kyle decided on Georgetown , and I was going to Duke.

I knew that we would always be friends, that the miles would never be a
problem.

He was going to be a doctor, and I was going for business on a football
scholarship.

Kyle was valedictorian of our class.

I teased him all the time about being a nerd.

He had to prepare a speech for graduation.

I was so glad it wasn't me having to get up there and speak
Graduation day, I saw Kyle.

He looked great.

He was one of those guys that really found himself during high school.

He filled out and actually looked good in glasses.

He had more dates than I had and all the girls loved him.

Boy, sometimes I was jealous.

Today was one of those days.

I could see that he was nervous about his speech.

So, I smacked him on the back and said, "Hey, big guy, you'll be great!"

He looked at me with one of those looks (the really grateful one) and
smiled.

"Thanks," he said.

As he started his speech, he cleared his throat, and began

"Graduation is a time to thank those who helped you make it through those
tough years.

Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach...but mostly your
friends...

I am here to tell all of you that being a friend to someone is the best gift
you can give them.

I am going to tell you a story."

I just looked at my friend with disbelief as he told the story of the first
day we met.

He had planned to kill himself over the weekend.

He talked of how he had cleaned out his locker so his Mom wouldn't have to
do it later and was carrying his stuff home.

He looked hard at me and gave me a little smile.

"Thankfully, I was saved.

My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable."

I heard the gasp go through the crowd as this handsome, popular boy told us
all about his weakest moment.

I saw his Mom and dad looking at me and smiling that same grateful smile.

Not until that moment did I realize it's depth.

Never underestimate the power of your actions.

With one small gesture you can change a person's life.

For better or for worse.

LOL :rotfl:

I am the one going to the Poconos. I have never been, but I guess what you think of as boring, we probably think of as a nice relaxing vacation. We are renting a 6 bedroom house on a lake, and sharing with my Mom and my sister's family. We are doing this instead of going camping which had been our usual summer vacation. I actually expect this will be less work. We will relax, go canoeing/kayaking, hiking etc. So I suppose it probably is "boring" but just what I love on a week off from work.

hehe, trust me if I can do it anyone can, and its not as hard as it sounds. Also photobucket has directions on how to post your pictures.

Hi everyone!

Crazy day here... this is the first time I have been able to check in all day. Did a quick skim of the last 10 pages or so...

The day started at 6:30am when we woke up to our roofer (11 of them to be exact). up on our roof ripping the entire thing off. They were supposed to come Friday to do the new roof but they came today instead!!! DH went out & spoek with them & they came today since the weather was good. we had 3 days of heavy rain here in NY this past weekend & more to come at weeks end they predict. Anyway, I get the kids to school & the little one to dance class. I notice she has like a blister or stye in her eye so I run her to the pediactrician who then sends us to a pediatric opthamologist (now she's still in her dance costume) That Dr. says is a reaction to bacteria in the eye & that the blister is an inflammatory reaction to the bacteria. Off we run to the pharmacy to get her eye drops & a lotion for the eyelashes to protect from future bacteria. Thanks heaven DH was home due to the whole roof thing & he picked the other 2 up from school. Ok run & make dinner,..boxed mac & cheese..6pm run my oldest to ballet. Back home by 7:15 I eat my ww's tuna cassarole thingy & then my oldest dd's friend comes over to watch American Idol. Put the younger ones to bed...9pm her friend (our neighbor) just left & my oldest just went up to bed. Whew..I am pooped.

And by the way gas is $3.59 a gallon here in NY. :scared:
