Unfortunately, I really don't have any great news to report as far as Cody goes.

I am really sad about this and I am dreading having him come home because I know when I see him I will be even more upset. If you all could keep up your continued prayers we would very much appreciate it!!!

So sorry to hear this! Cody and your family are in my thoughts & prayers. Here's some :grouphug: and :tink:that it is not as bad as it currently appears. Keep us posted.

Thanks Guys;

Your support is SO appreciated!!!!

Dave just came home and he did decide to leave him at the Vet tonight. He said that it looked really bad and he said that it looked like the incision was about 10-12 inches long. He said that there was a lot of blood and that he has been shaved a lot. He said it looks really nasty and I'm really afraid about how Carli will react when she sees him. We will pick him up sometime tomorrow, but I'm nervous because Dave will be out all night tomorrow. Dave seemed pretty shaken up when he got home and that isn't really like him to react like that.

Thanks Again For Your Prayers & Support!!!

Julie

HI Everybody;

We're back from our marathon day!!

Dawn-I can't tell you how excited I am for you!!! It is So nice to have one of both!!! Little girls are So much fun, especially to dress up!!! Congratulations!!!!

Denise- I will keep Rees in my prayers that everything goes as smoothly as possible, and can be done as simply as possible!!!! Your family is always in our prayers, I really admire you and I think that you have a truly amazing family!!!!

Unfortunately, I really don't have any great news to report as far as Cody goes. The tumor was much bigger than they originally thought, and it was wrapped around some nerves. It was a very invasive surgery, and he bled a lot. He has a 7 inch long 5 inch wide and 4 inch deep incision with 3 layers of stitches. They also think that his bowel may be affected since it was SO near there, he may now have some incontinence problems because of the surgery, we should see through the week. The Vet did not sound optimistic, but we have to wait about a week for the report to see what it was and if it had spread. Dave is headed up to the Vet now to decide if we should bring him home tonight, the Vet said that it was up to us to decide, he can stay overnight or go home w/ a lot of pain and meds. If we do not bring him home tonight it will be sometime tomorrow. The surgery was also a lot more expensive than we thought it would be unfortunately. I am really sad about this and I am dreading having him come home because I know when I see him I will be even more upset. If you all could keep up your continued prayers we would very much appreciate it!!!

Sorry to be such a downer on such a happy day...

Thanks

Julie

I am so sorry to hear this Julie. You are all in my prayers.

Just got home. The appointment went as both John and I expected. Dr. Meyers agrees Rees is refluxing again. He said best case scenario is that it isn't as severe as it appears to be, and that Rees is just really sensitive to the acid. If that is the case, they will manage him with meds and diet. But, we have to find out just what it going on. So either this Friday or next Friday he will go to the Outpatient GI Lab at the hospital and have an Endoscopy and pH Probe. They will give him an IV and put him to sleep. They'll put a tube with a small camera down his esophagus into the stomach to view the anatomy, check for hernias, and check the status of the Fundo. Then Dr. Meyers will attach an electronic sensor to the inside of his esophagus. The sensor sends data via a wireless device to a gadget Rees will wear on his hip for 48 hours. It will tell the doctor the pH of the acid in his esophagus and show how bad the reflux is. He has to stop all Reflux meds that week and must eat a very acidic diet for the weekend (apple juice, oj, tomato products, etc) to make the stomach acid as bad as possible. It is the only way go get an accurate reading. Last time he had a pH probe was awful. without the meds, he refluxed horribly and was in a lot of pain. I'm hoping this time won't be as bad. After 48hours we take the data box back to the doctor to download and analyze the info. If it shows moderate reflux and the Endoscopy shows anything, then we will go to the Surgeon to repeat the Fundo.

That is all I know at the moment. Please pray it isn't as bad as it appears and Rees can avoid surgery. Thanks for all your support. It means a lot.

Definite prayers that surgery won't be needed! Many more prayers that Rees isn't in too much pain during the pH testing process. Though I understand the necessity, it just doesn't sound very fun. :( Many :grouphug: to you all!

Well, I'm off to pick up Becky from track. Then we have to stop by her boyfriend's house so his mother can see her prom dress so she can make sure he doesn't clash. Prom is Saturday. Katrina is coming home again to help Becky get ready. I'm so glad she is close enough to come home for things like this. It is so important to Becky. Originally, Becky was going by herself since her boyfriend is from another high school but at the last minute decided to invite him. They've been dating for about a month. Her dress is beautiful. We bought it before school started on one of our shopping trips. I'll post pictures on Saturday. Talk to you later.

I'm really bummed. I just know that I'm going to miss the milestone when we pass the old thread! Waaahhhhhh! Everyone go eat dinner for a couple of hours so the thread stays slow until I get back!!!! :rotfl:

You have family in Saudi?
Have you ever been?

No, I haven't been -- I wish! I went to Israel my freshman year in high school and at that point kept my passport stamp out of the actual passport (in a separate page), etc becasue I was hoping to go soon. Still not as of yet. :guilty:

My aunt (mom's sister) met her husband in school (Michigan) and when they got married and graduated, moved back there. It was supposed to be for a few years (until his parents died, as terrible as that sounds).... at that point they were kind of on the edge of death.

16 years later......... :confused3

They come in for about 2 months every 3-5 years. My aunt is working on making that more frequent, but it's hard to make the trip with 5 kids. The kids love it here though, and always want to stay. It's heartbreaking, especially to watch the girls!

I'm off to my history class... and we don't even have a test! I'm just being a good student for once ;)

I'll see you guys when I get back!

 Guess what just came in the mail? My Disney Catalog order!! Have you all gotten the new one? I ordered the khaki Mickey capris, 2 of the Mickey polos (Turquoise and Pink) and the Mickey tennis shoes. It is the cutest!!!

I so want some of those polos! I am trying to convince myself that I need new clothes for work, but haven't succeeded much yet. I may have to go back and check the price.

I have been in the UAE a few times and it is a very interesting culture. The UAE is one of the easygoing Arab countries and I found them to be a bit harsh. (but then again I am from California, so what do I know)

I have a few friends who have been to other Middle Eastern countries and they (the females) had a bit of a hard time.

I did enjoy the food and shopping was A LOT of fun, gold is cheaper and you can haggle to get the prices down.

Has your aunt ever brought you an abya (spelling)? I have a few from Saudi and some from the UAE. They are fun to wear for dress up times.

I find this interesting. I do hope you can go visit someday.

no, she's always so nice! I am surprised too. Wonder if something went on via PMs that nobody else saw.

I was shocked by that as well - I wonder what the original Thanksgiving post was b/c I think the answer was pretty snide - totally out of character!

Great pictures Kelli :goodvibes I really like the one with your dd blowing the bubbles!

Chuck wasn't thrilled with him when I first got him either. Easter Sunday, he was showing his brother pictures of our trip and one had Pal Mickey. I heard him tell his brother "We learned some neat things". So they do warm up to him after a little while. Here's proof. The pictures a little fuzzy because I was fumbling with the camera trying to snap the picture for my proof before he noticed. As you can tell, I got caught.
