We're back from our marathon day!!
Dawn-I can't tell you how excited I am for you!!! It is So nice to have one of both!!! Little girls are So much fun, especially to dress up!!! Congratulations!!!!
Denise- I will keep Rees in my prayers that everything goes as smoothly as possible, and can be done as simply as possible!!!! Your family is always in our prayers, I really admire you and I think that you have a truly amazing family!!!!
Unfortunately, I really don't have any great news to report as far as Cody goes. The tumor was much bigger than they originally thought, and it was wrapped around some nerves. It was a very invasive surgery, and he bled a lot. He has a 7 inch long 5 inch wide and 4 inch deep incision with 3 layers of stitches. They also think that his bowel may be affected since it was SO near there, he may now have some incontinence problems because of the surgery, we should see through the week. The Vet did not sound optimistic, but we have to wait about a week for the report to see what it was and if it had spread. Dave is headed up to the Vet now to decide if we should bring him home tonight, the Vet said that it was up to us to decide, he can stay overnight or go home w/ a lot of pain and meds. If we do not bring him home tonight it will be sometime tomorrow. The surgery was also a lot more expensive than we thought it would be unfortunately. I am really sad about this and I am dreading having him come home because I know when I see him I will be even more upset. If you all could keep up your continued prayers we would very much appreciate it!!!
Sorry to be such a downer on such a happy day...
Thanks
Julie

triplefigs said:Just got home. The appointment went as both John and I expected. Dr. Meyers agrees Rees is refluxing again. He said best case scenario is that it isn't as severe as it appears to be, and that Rees is just really sensitive to the acid. If that is the case, they will manage him with meds and diet. But, we have to find out just what it going on. So either this Friday or next Friday he will go to the Outpatient GI Lab at the hospital and have an Endoscopy and pH Probe. They will give him an IV and put him to sleep. They'll put a tube with a small camera down his esophagus into the stomach to view the anatomy, check for hernias, and check the status of the Fundo. Then Dr. Meyers will attach an electronic sensor to the inside of his esophagus. The sensor sends data via a wireless device to a gadget Rees will wear on his hip for 48 hours. It will tell the doctor the pH of the acid in his esophagus and show how bad the reflux is. He has to stop all Reflux meds that week and must eat a very acidic diet for the weekend (apple juice, oj, tomato products, etc) to make the stomach acid as bad as possible. It is the only way go get an accurate reading. Last time he had a pH probe was awful. without the meds, he refluxed horribly and was in a lot of pain. I'm hoping this time won't be as bad. After 48hours we take the data box back to the doctor to download and analyze the info. If it shows moderate reflux and the Endoscopy shows anything, then we will go to the Surgeon to repeat the Fundo.
That is all I know at the moment. Please pray it isn't as bad as it appears and Rees can avoid surgery. Thanks for all your support. It means a lot.
Many
to you all!

My aunt (mom's sister) met her husband in school (Michigan) and when they got married and graduated, moved back there. It was supposed to be for a few years (until his parents died, as terrible as that sounds).... at that point they were kind of on the edge of death.
16 years later.........![]()
They come in for about 2 months every 3-5 years. My aunt is working on making that more frequent, but it's hard to make the trip with 5 kids. The kids love it here though, and always want to stay. It's heartbreaking, especially to watch the girls!

, Julie! I am sorry that Cody's surgery didn't go as well as expected. Our prayers will continue that everything will work out okay. I hope that his recovery goes smoothly.

UP Disney said:Chuck wasn't thrilled with him when I first got him either. Easter Sunday, he was showing his brother pictures of our trip and one had Pal Mickey. I heard him tell his brother "We learned some neat things". So they do warm up to him after a little while. Here's proof. The pictures a little fuzzy because I was fumbling with the camera trying to snap the picture for my proof before he noticed. As you can tell, I got caught.
