Just got home. The appointment went as both John and I expected. Dr. Meyers agrees Rees is refluxing again. He said best case scenario is that it isn't as severe as it appears to be, and that Rees is just really sensitive to the acid. If that is the case, they will manage him with meds and diet. But, we have to find out just what it going on. So either this Friday or next Friday he will go to the Outpatient GI Lab at the hospital and have an Endoscopy and pH Probe. They will give him an IV and put him to sleep. They'll put a tube with a small camera down his esophagus into the stomach to view the anatomy, check for hernias, and check the status of the Fundo. Then Dr. Meyers will attach an electronic sensor to the inside of his esophagus. The sensor sends data via a wireless device to a gadget Rees will wear on his hip for 48 hours. It will tell the doctor the pH of the acid in his esophagus and show how bad the reflux is. He has to stop all Reflux meds that week and must eat a very acidic diet for the weekend (apple juice, oj, tomato products, etc) to make the stomach acid as bad as possible. It is the only way go get an accurate reading. Last time he had a pH probe was awful. without the meds, he refluxed horribly and was in a lot of pain. I'm hoping this time won't be as bad. After 48hours we take the data box back to the doctor to download and analyze the info. If it shows moderate reflux and the Endoscopy shows anything, then we will go to the Surgeon to repeat the Fundo.

That is all I know at the moment. Please pray it isn't as bad as it appears and Rees can avoid surgery. Thanks for all your support. It means a lot.
WOW....it is amazing the things that they can do these days.

How was Rees at the appt? Did he handle it well?

Here's another "my DH pays more attention to me than I thought" story

I was telling him Dawn called me and how nice it was to talk with her and that even though I knew she had a southern accent it still threw me -

and he said to me

"Just wait until you talk to your friend from England - I bet you don't think about her talking with a British Accent!!"

My DH was just asking me whether we were going to upgrade so we could actually start talking to each other through our computers. Can't you just see all of us trying to talk at once!!! :rotfl: I have to say I'm looking forward to the time where it is common to talk through the computers but I don't think it would work with a group our size.

:rotfl: That's how Tony is!!!!! The other day I mentioned my friend with the triplets and he goes "Who do we know with triplets?????" and I said "Denise." And he just shook his head. So apparantly he does listen to my "DDA Blather" more than I think because as soon as I said her name he knew who I was talking about!!! :rotfl:

That's sweet. Thanks for thinking of us!

Denise, is the PH probe the same/similar to a pneumogram (I think that's what it was called). Christopher had to have that but they put the tube down his nose. I pray Rees' procedure will be comfortable and that he won't have too much pain from the acidic foods. Prayers also that it can be managed with meds so he doesn't have to go through another surgery :grouphug: .
Do they think he'll ever grow out of this?

Ok, we only have about 400 more to our next milestone. Yes, I counted right. I'm not totally crazy!!!! Well, that discussion is for another time. :rotfl: When we hit 22584, we'll have more posts in this thread than in the monster thread. That is only about 400 away. It took you 220 days to hit it in the monster thread. How many days will it be in this thread? So far, this thread has been going 104 days.
That is amazing!

Prayers are being said as I post this! Here's some :grouphug: :grouphug: for all of you as well. Let us know when it is scheduled so we can up them during that time.

I'm just amazed at modern technology and the medical advancements. :grouphug: and pixiedust: that the week goes smoothly for Rees and for the rest of the family!

Yes, he did very well. We took his V-tech pocket game system, and he played Thomas the Train and Pooh the entire time. Dr. Meyers just examined him while he played. He's a nice guy.

Hi Everybody;

Just checking in to say "Hi"!!!!

We just got back from the library and story time. We have an awesome librarian who even has a couple of CD's the kids always have a blat when we are able to go when they are off of school. We met my "nice" sil and my beautiful nephew/Godson, we had a good time and then went to lunch together. They are now on their way home to Columbus, I wish they still lived here, I miss them SO much!!!

The kids are playing outside, it is a beautiful day today again!! We have to leave again in a little bit, Carli has her 6 year check up and I have to return some clothes I bought from Kids R' US on Saturday, they forgot to remove the security tag. I was SO aggravated when I went to get the kids dressed this morning and saw those security tags still on :sad2: .

Cody is at the Vet now and I haven't heard anything yet, I'm hoping to hear something soon!!!

Dawn :wizard: - I can't wait to hear all about it when I get back!!!!

Denise & Rees :wizard: - I hope you get some good news or at least some answers from the Dr. today, and that Rees is feeling good too!!!

Have A Good Day Everybody!!!! I'll check back later!!!

Julie :)

Hi, Julie. Glad you're having a great day!

They are similar in idea, how they gather data, and use. A Pneumogram is to monitor respiratory function and gas levels for Apnea (BTW, they all had this in the NICU too). The first time Rees had a pH probe he had the tube with the sensors down his nose and a NG tube for feeding. At least this time he won't have the tubes which should be much better.

That would be a mess, for sure! We have family in Saudi Arabia. We commonly talk to them via a computer program, and it works well for 2-3 people. But when we get me, my mom, my sister, and a few aunts in there, it's HOPELESS!

Actually we went to breakfast at Chick Fil A!!!

I had to go to Dillards to buy a wedding gift. I also went to Gymboree and bought a few pink things :) . I saw the turtle outfit there and I thought of everyone here, but especially John :teeth:

Well, you know what gift you'd be getting from ME!
