Most of you who have been on here for a while and especially the past few months will probably remember that my Mom has been steadily declining in health. Well, tonight she died. It was not really unexpected nor sudden, but it hurts, nonetheless. Bob and I were going to PA to visit her and his parents this coming Friday. I guess we will be going sooner now. Please keep my brother in Boston and my sister in Allentown in your thoughts as we all all be traveling at some time this week.
Elin, I'm so sorry. Prayers for you and your family.

OK, I actually need help with something. I have not been to a funeral since my Dad died 14 years ago. Add to that the fact that I have recently lost 35 pounds. Is it appropriate to wear slacks to a funeral? I am talking good quality, lined dress slacks. Is it more correct to wear a dress? Should it be black? I think I am going to have to find time in the next day or so to go buy something and I want to make certain I don't spend money foolishly and buy something I can't wear any other time. Thanks for your help.
I wore a pantsuit to both my father and brother's funerals.

I had a huge post typed out and then hit the wrong button -- lost the whole darn thing! But we had the best Easter ever, had some friends here that like Disney as much as we do - so how could it be bad?? Here are a couple of pictures of the tie dye cupcakes. They were so much fun!!

Cute kiddos too :)

Well, Easter is officially over at our house. 4 very happy, sugared-up kids have finally fallen asleep.

Alan and I decided long ago to keep the Easter baskets hidden until after church, so our kids could focus more on the religious aspect of the holiday for the first part of the day. Unfortunately, that means the kids were really antsy to get home after church. Add to that, the fact that Jacob lost his first tooth this morning, and we had one excited little boy! Alan tied a piece of dental floss around the tooth, and gave a yank and out it popped. Too bad that the tooth flew out of the floss and we can't find it! Good thing the Tooth Fairy accepts a note explaining the situation.

At church all the children sang 2 songs that I've been working on with them. The second number was accompanied by hand bells, and it sounded so good! I was so proud of all the kids; they did so well and were so serious about it.

After church we came home, and the kids were able to finally hunt for their baskets. Luckily, the EB didn't hide them in hard to find places, so they were able to find them quickly. They looked through their loot while I pulled the ham out of the oven, and threw the rolls in. 20 minutes later we were eating. Katie proclaimed it the "best Easter meal of my life!" High praise from her as she hates ham.

After dinner, we watched Leslie's new movie, Thumbelina, while the kids colored, and munched on candy. I managed to bag up all the candy from their baskets so I can regulate how much they eat each day.

Tonight, we pieced on deviled eggs, strawberry daquiri cake and watched Narnia. It was a good day! No fighting (that's a huge deal, here, lately), and all kids were thrilled with their baskets!

Marti - I did get pictures taken, and will post them tomorrow! I'm too exhausted tonight!

See you all in the morning!
It sounds like a wonderful day Glynis. And yay to the lost tooth! What a big day for Jacob,

Let me share my day.....

We planned for 9 for dinner. Eight plates and an infant... The table was set. The food was finished. I had to make two Wal Mart runs as my son-in-law needed more cheese for the mac and cheese and brown sugar for the sweet potatoes.... The food was delicous!

My son and his wife drove up and I had lots of 'smell the baby's head time'...  They dressed him in his Eagles onesie and a "going to grandma's" bib. So cute..

My son-in-law's family showed up with an additional 7 people..... : :rolleyes1

You know, we didn't miss a beat. Pulled out paper plates, plastic forks (I so love that my daughter always has them on hand) and we just had a ball.

Nanny T hid eggs in our backyard and the kids ran around and found them...My granddaughter found my Disney easter egg decorating kit (I'm still unpacking from the move...long story) and we blew the yolks out of 3 eggs. She gave 2 to her cousins. We couldn't find the vinegar until after the kids left, so the eggs color wasn't very deep. But we put glue on and beads. They had a ball...

Then we made cupcakes. Nothing as elaborate as y'all. I'm just not that talented. But they were cute and I used Sponge Bob Squarepants muffin liners and my grandson loved them.

This is why we bought this house. The kids had a ball in the back yard. The inlaws had a place to smoke :smokin: We had 16 people when we expected 9 and it was no big deal. Just pull up a chair or sit on the sofa and pull up a tv tray or sit on the deck and take your plate and smoke.... There was still plenty of food, some had plates of food to take with, so my DSIL cooked enough.... Everybody gets along, and it is so nice that my DSIL has so much family right near us.

It was such a good holiday. I am blessed. :cloud9: :cloud9:
I'm glad you had such a good day :goodvibes

Wow, for what started as a slow day yesterday, sure didn't end that way.

Elin, So sorry to hear about your mom. :grouphug: Safe travels for everyone.

Kate, Glad you had a great day, even with the knee troubles. Easter egg shoes! :rotfl2:

Marti, I love those eggs. Will have to do them next year for sure. Your son is such a cutie and looks so much like my nephew, just a few years older. I will have to find a picture.

Denise, Sounds like a great Easter. I love those Mom moments, too. Totally makes up for the times when you feel like this

Glynis, Oh my goodness. You look fantastic! Your kiddos are adorable. Love the Pooh cake and buns.

Chanon, The baby is priceless. Sounds like you had a fun trip.

Theresa, If your travels bring you to Maryland definetley let me know. I would love to meet you! I remember you saying a while ago your mom was is MD but it amazes me how close she is too me. I have a similar problem with the aspartame. Can't touch the stuff. No diet coke for me!

Terry, Your grandsons are adorable and I love the bracelets. Now I have an idea for Mother's Day!

Steffy, The unexpected guests and how you deal with them sounds a lot like my mom's family. They love to invite just about anybody they know to our gatherings and while you know who is going to show up there are always extras that just pop in and we always have room for one more and never having enough food is something they truly don't have a concept of.

Kristine, Happy Anniversary. Even though I'm a day late.

Jen, I love the flower pictures, they are gorgeous.

And I know there are more that I missed, it sounds like a everyone had a great day.

Emma is off school today. We had planned on spending the day outside but the weather is not cooperating. This might be a good thing as Blackie, our cockapoo, helped himself to some Easter candy while we slept so I want to keep an eye on him. He tried a lot of things, Peeps, jelly beans, malted milk balls, and chocolate. So we are having a movie day, Disney style. So far this morning we have watched Dumbo and are now watching Chicken Little.

Anybody know where to find a copy of Beauty and the Beast? I, uh, kinda broke the kids' copy this weekend. Now I'm in the dog house! Anywhere other than Ebay?

Denise,

I have a copy on VHS, slightly used, that you are more than welcome to. The only other thing I could think of, bedsides Ebay, is maybe in the previously viewed section of Blockbuster.

Does this mean you will be joining us in DC for our meet?!?!?

We had a great day yesterday too. We felt we had been going overboard with the baskets the last few years so we simplified this year. MUCH better! Christopher was crazy about everything in his basket and after he finished looking in it said he wanted to make an announcement. Then he thanked the Easter bunny. The Easter Bunny hit a home run with the Teen Titans DVD. Christopher and Brian watched it for a while yesterday morning while I did some cleaning. Sad, I know on Easter but I was behind from being sick.

We did not go to church yesterday :(. We haven't been in quite some time, actually. We haven't really found a church that we feel comfortable in. The one we're members in is very large and sort of hard to get involved in. It's also far away. We don't have any Presbyterian churches in our area either. Anyway, my goal for next Easter is to be settled in a church.

For lunch we went to my inlaws and had boiled shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, mushrooms, salad, sausage, Boudin Balls, bread, Peep cupcakes and Strawberry Daiquiri cake. We had a really nice time. There were some close family members there as well. Lots of nice conversation and Christopher spent hours chasing after his older cousin and hunting Easter eggs. He was dirty and sweaty when we left :)

Today I have to finish cleaning and get back to decluttering. I've been slowly doing this since December! Christopher's out of school this week so I'm letting him be lazy today, but I've got to plan some fun things for the rest of the week.

I hope everyone has a great day!

It sounds like everyone had a wonderful Easter. We did too, and I will post some pictures when we get home.

Elin, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. You and your family will be in my prayers.

Glynis - You look absolutely wonderful. My first thought, as I read was everyone elses, was how incredibly happy you looked in the after picture.

Kristine - I knew there was something I forgot to say in my drive-by post yesterday.....Happy Belated Anniversary. Sorry it's late.

All of the pictures everyone posted were great.

I feel so out of touch with you all since I am not on here regularly to chat. Hopefully that will change in a day or two. I miss everyone!
