I've never tried this. So I am not sure if it is good or not. PLus I'm not sure how much it may differ from what you are used to.

FRIED CORN MEAL MUSH

1 c. cold water
1 c. corn meal
3 c. boiling water
1 tsp. salt

Mix cold water and corn meal. Stir into boiling water and salt. Cook, stirring, until it boils; cover and cook over boiling water in double boiler 30 minutes or cook on slow fire, uncovered. Pack into greased metal can or mold. Cover with plastic and chill overnight or until firm. Slice 1/2 inch thick and brown in skillet. Serve with syrup.

Oh man, I LOVE corn meal much! That is one thing we try to have whenever I go to visit my mom. That recipe looks pretty close to hers.

When I moved back to PA I could not understand why they kept asking smoking or non-smoking. Since in Florida since 2003 any restaurant that does a certain percentage of sales in food must be non-smoking. I forgot it was only Florida that had this legislation.

Becky

That is the one thing that I am not looking forward to if we go back to St. Louis. Both Massachusetts and California are totally smoke free in restaurants, etc. I'm so used to it that even the nonsmoking section is almost too much for me. It makes me really glad that I don't go to bars, etc.

The Easter bunny has come and gone - and left a trip to Star Wars weekend for Matt. He's excited! We didn't dare tell him its because of the DDA weekend :rolleyes1

We're having company today - yep, we're cooking. If anybody hears sirens from the fire trucks, have no fear! It's probably just a small stove fire and we'll be fine!

I'll check in later just in case! Happy Easter

"We're" cooking? And Matt thought Star Wars weekend was the big excitement for the day. :) I wish the Easter bunnny had left a DDA trip in my basket, but alas he seems to have forgotten. Though my grandma did send money...hmmm....

Okay, I just have to add that I think this  looks like a "thinking" or "pondering" smilie to me, not sarcastic eye roll as the DIS has named it. So if I ever post it in a reply to you, please don't think that I am being rude. Okay, not back to your regularly schedulled DDA-ing. I just realized the "official" name for the smilie and wanted to make sure I didn't offend anyone. :)

Sorry about your mom, Deb. My mom has been sick with a terrible virus since late Thursday night. We don't dare go over there (not that she'd let me in the door if I tried) so she'll miss Christopher this year too. We're heading to my in-law's house later for boiled shrimp and an egg hunt for Christopher. I thought he'd feel bad that there weren't any more little kids for him to hunt with, but he's happy that he'll have all the eggs for himself.

Dawn and Deb, I'm sorry that your mothers are still under the weather and missing out on the Easter fun. :wizard: that they are feeling better soon.

No kidding!! If my kids knew the Easter bunny brought trips to WDW we would be in BIG trouble too!! They loved all their toys and are watching the new Thomas DVD Nick got - then they will watch Julia's new video

But the Easter Bunny did a really good job of hiding the Easter Eggs and now we can't find two of them - why didn't the easter bunny leave a list?!!?!? :confused3

The big question is whether the missing eggs were plastic or hard boiled. We always seemed to loose at least one real egg every year. Luckily, it was always when we were hiding them outside.

Nice thinking ahead, Dawn! Nothing like getting just the right thing.

The Easter Bunny apparently did well here too. Terra got the new Mickey and Donald Laugh Factory (or something like that) DVDs and 2 Little People dinosaurs. I just thought the dinos were just cute as they come with a big one, a cave person and an egg that "hatches" a baby. Apparently, they were the perfect thing as Terra's eyes lit up when she saw them and she's been playing with them all morning. Right now the baby Brachiosaurus (sp?) is "singing" Grim Grinning Ghosts while Terra accompanies on the keyboar.

Okay, I feel like I should be heading to the MK or something. Yesterday, I put in my white "Disney" shirt where the word is spelled out with different characters, paint, filmstip, etc. When I did, Terra wanted to wear her matching one too. This morning, I put on a green shirt. When I went to get Terra dressed she got out her navy version of the Disney shirt and said, "But I want to wear the letters one and match you." So, I changed shirts and now we are matching again today. It just makes me want to hop the bus to the parks!

And so ends me P3 as I have eggs boiling on the stove and I keep forgetting that they are there. I hope that everyone's Easter dinners are delicious. I'll be thinking about you all as I make due with Boston Market.

Tinknme and yellowfish78 and any other 1st week of Oct DDA-ers.

I just compared my newest schedule with Chanon's and this is where we overlap. Janet and anyone else interested, let me know what days work with your plans as well and we'll set up a meet in there somewhere!

Sat 9/30 - PM in Epcot (Tia at MK in AM)
Sun 10/1 - All day in MGM, Fantasmic
Mon 10/2 - All day in Epcot
Tues 10/3 - Tia in AK all day, Chanon at Universal
Wed 10/4 - MK in PM (Chanon there all day, Tia at MGM in AM)
Thurs 10/5 - MNSSHP (Tia at Epcot in AM, Chanon at AK), Eeyorecln also doing MNSSHP that night I think.
Fri 10/6 - Tia in MGM from late morning on, Chanon at Univeral Horror Nights
Sat 10/7 - MK in evening for Spectro and Wishes (Tia AK in morning, Chanon taking break and doing HDDR)

Wow, Chanon! I didn't realize how much my revised schedule really did match yours! I guess we'll be seeing you around.

So Janet, how does that look with your schedule? Eeyorecln? Anyone else going to be around then?!?! We'd love to meet up sometime.

Happy Easter everyone!! I hope you all are having some great family time and that the Easter Bunny was good to all the little ones. Nicholas and Alyssa were very happy with their baskets. They got Narnia, High School Musical, Annie, and Kingdom Hearts, plus some books and candy.

I quickly skimmed through all of the posts. Marti, I liked your eggs and Denise you turtle is too cute.

The tyedied cupcakes look delicious. Next year we will do that.

The ham is in the oven and we will be eating in a few hours, and then we are off to visit some family so the kids can play with their cousins.

Have a great day!

Tammi, don't forget to post your most recent picture of Nicholas and Alyssa by the Easter sign! :goodvibes

Theresa, sending you some :wizard: and :grouphug:

Congratulations on all the milestones over the past 15 hours! :cheer2:

Dawn, since Alyssa accidentally cracked one of our hard-boiled eggs, I can tell you that Emeril's recipe is right on! :thumbsup2 (take note for next year Julie!!! :teeth: )

Marti, your eggs are really cool and original.

Jennifer, I love what you did with the giraffe picture.

Alyssa is napping right now, and then we're headed to Kevin's mom's house for dinner. She's not the best cook and I'm a picky eater, so hopefully I won't starve. ;)

Hope everyone's having a good day!
Amy :)

Since I make them for him twice a year, I am obviously going to have to come up with a new name for these chocolate delicacies to eliminate the eeewwww factor!

Very funny Kristine! Happy Anniversary!

Hi, everyone. Happy Easter! Kids loved their baskets this am. Got a swim vest for the pool, 3 pairs of Disney pj's, 2 books, a small toy, and 2 eggs with some Tootsie Rolls. I found the pj's on sale last fall for $2.99 each and the book on clearance. I did well!

Went to church, and the service was lovely. I teach choir and usually sing in the chancel choir (not singing this year because it is too much time). At the end of the service they asked everyone who would like to sing the Hallelujah Chorus to come to the front. Rees went with me and sang every word! He is so musical. It was one of those mom moments that I'll remember the rest of my life. It was wonderful.

Came home and had lunch. The kids hunted for the eggs and played with their new toy and books. We just finished baking the tie dye Easter cupcakes. They smell wonderful and look great. We're going to frost them with chocolate and put on sprinkles. I've got a ham and scalloped potatoes in the oven for dinner. Also having asparagus, crescent rolls, tossed salad, and the cupcakes for dessert.

I've taken a million pics of the kids, and I'll try to post some tomorrow. Hope everyone is having a great day. And Happy Anniversary, Kristine and Bill!

How far back do I have to read to figure out what all the ewwww is about turtles?!
