Yay, Our first official "spring like" day, I am LOVING it!!!! It is supposed to be around 70 degrees today!!! I have already opened my bedroom windows!!!
I have missed the sun SO much :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny: !!!

It's officially spring in Iron Mountain. The local A&W is open! Yeah!!!!! It is an old-fashioned drive-thru so closes in the fall and opens in the spring.

It does seem to work, I always have it on hand but only use it a few times a year. I think it may make them a little drowsy at first but after taking it for a day or two I don't notice any....
So you only give it to them "as needed", not regularly?

Does it work for them? Any side effects?

Zyrtec didn't work for Matt - we've had a tough time with him. He is supposed to be on shots, but we've declined to start them. Just isn't worth the trouble. He's not bad enough to me to warrant the shots.

Paul gets shots every ten days, so we know this one is heriditary (sorry for the spelling Amy - there is no spell check here!).

By the way - my nephew was allergy tested at six months (nut allergies among others) but was done through a blood test. Maybe you could ask about that??

We had one of those near us when I was little. It was the kind that you pull up, park, and order from your car. Then they would bring your order out on a tray and attach it to your car window. Ah, the good ole days.....

Thanks for all of the advice/recommendations.

It's about time for me to get ready for bed. I sure wish I could stay up and play but I would be hurting tomorrow......

Hope your tummy feels better, Marti.

Goodnight all.

I LOVE drive in A&W! Do they still have the fried mushrooms? Plus, you can't beat draft root beer. YUMMY!!

I've had such a crappy night that we haven't had them. My stomach is all in knots, so if I had the acid tonight it could be ugly. So we're going to have them tomorrow. I'm having some ginger ale now.

For St. Paddy's day at work we made ginger ale with Lime sorbet in it, it was good.

We could do either or depending on how bad they are. We usually have a couple of bad weeks out of the year.

By the way I had allergy shots as a kid and I was actually was worse when i got the shots!!!

Kate - did you see the cast of High School Musical on the Today show? They weren't on yet when I had to leave to for work, so recorded the rest of the show on the DVR, and I just watched it. (By the way, I did watch the movie - twice).

My first job and all through high school was at Graeter's!! I gave away so much free ice-cream to friends and family  !!! Although I couldn't eat it for years, just the smell repulsed me. It was a fun job, but when I would work on Saturday nights I couldn't go out right from work, I had to go home and shower first because I reeked of milk :crazy2: !!! Not a very attractive smell!!! I can now eat Graeter's again but not on a regular basis!!

I think I'm going to call my allergist tomorrow and see what he says. I've just been treating her with OTC stuff but if I can get a prescription that would work better I would prefer to do that. What I'm giving her doesn't do a whole lot. I've been putting it off because I know of so many kids that have been put on allergy shots, and I'm afraid to hear that. But I suppose that is only in severe cases, right?

I was tested two different ways -- one with all the needles, and the other one they drew my blood and tested that way. With my nephew, they didn't test (although they do, with many kids). They started him on Claritin (before it went OTC) and that helped. I would think the first step is just to have her evaluated. Tell the doctor your concern, that you would rather try less drastic measures first, and I bet they would be willing to do that.

My DD has a couple of weeks where her eyes and nose itch but not so bad that I would put her thru testing, she takes OTC claritin for kids and that seems to work, he inherited it from DH.

Does anyone remember who did the Even Mickey Loves Tony Stewart design? I had saved it for future use for a Tony Stewart fan friend, but when my computer died I lost all of my designs, all that I had saved, all my saved clipart, autograph pages, downloaded fonts - you get the idea. If anyone knows or if the designer is reading, I'd love to have it again. Many thanks in advance.

Paula-

You've got quite an adventurer on your hands.....but really peas BEFORE the ice cream? :confused3 :rotfl2:

The stuff that's on the tv and movies anymore make it hard to find anything decent to watch or let the kids watch by themselves.....still trying to figure out how some of the girls friends are allowed to watch Desperate Housewives....I am almost 35 and I won't let myself watch it  .

Some parents don't care or have a clue. The things I found out at my Brownie sleepover that some of my girls have accidentaly stumbled upon online worry me. After I found that out and we went to a computer place I found out most of them can just use the computer whenever they want and do whatever they want without restrictions.

We did go over computer and internet safety about how you must ask to use the computer and should go on the internet with an adult. Whether or not the parents follow that or not I have no clue.

It seriously worries me about what the future will hold for our country since so many kids are left to do whatever they want. They come up to an empty house in second grade and probably even younger. More and more parents aren't letting there kids outside to play due to safety reasons, but they are forgetting all of the dangers that lie within there own homes. Things such as the internet, unlocked medicines, unlocked cleaning supplies, TV, radio, etc.

Sending :grouphug: and :wizard: to all of you who have kids to protect from the dangers of the world. I know you are all trying your best and there is only so much that can be done.

Disclaimer: This is not meant to chastise anyone, it is only my opinion and you do not have to agree with me. :thumbsup2

Becky

Thanks, Kate - I should have known that you would know. Thanks momof2oh.
