Risky Business, Top Gun, Back to the Future, the Outsiders, Flashdance, Trading Places, Red Dawn, Return of the Jedi, Ghostbusters, Karate Kid, Indiana Jones, Footloose, DH's alltime fave A Christmas Story, Terminator, St Elmos Fire, Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, Ferris Beuller, Dirty Dancing, Lost Boys, Fatal Attraction... and those are just a few of the awesome movies that I saw during my four years in HS (83-87). The 80's were the BEST!!!!!!!!

Stop!!!

Wow I am back a few years now.
I don't feel as old as I am.

Paula, what's the current situation with your SIL? When is your BIL arriving in MI? Where in MI is she? Hope the news sounds better as you hear more.

Yeah Glynis! :cool1:

You so funny girl!!

OK I need some help. If I go on the DDA trip should I get an Annual Pass? We will be there for at least 11-12 days this year hopefully more ;) ) would this end up being cheaper??? Are there any discounts w/AP's, if so what are they???

Also I already booked and payed for our December trip w/dining. Can I still use dining w/ an AP, or how does this work??? Should I cancel my park hopper passes for me and get the money back and put it towards the AP or wait???
HELP

Thanks!!!!

I'd buy the annual pass. Switch your December trip to a one day base ticket to keep the dining plan.
You'll probably get room discounts with AP, but you never know when they pop up.

:cheer2:.. I wasn't a cheerleader but I went to the games... :cheer2: Senior year we were 1-9.... :cheer2:

HEY---HEY YOU---
YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO
YOU GOTTA
ROLL WITH THE RED
AND JAM WITH THE BLACK
JAM WITH THE BLACK
AND ROLL WITH THE RED
:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

And Carli's personal fave that she says all the time:

GIRLS GO TO COLLEGE TO GET MORE KNOWLEDGE
BOYS GO TO JUPITER TO GET MORE STUPIDER
:rotfl: :rotfl:

In our house stupid is on the list of bad words not to say, but I let it slide w/ this... I know bad Mommy  !!!

So with this new info, WWYD? Is it ok if I'm having a pity party and mad that my child has to be "special" where things are ALWAYS going to be that much harder for him? And I know that several of you face the same issues with your children. Ok, pity party over. Back to normal.

I don't have an answer for you about which time to go (Sorry -- I'm stepping back since I want you to go in December so that I can meet you!), but I wanted to tell you.....

YES -- it is okay for you to be worried about it. You've spent your kids' lives trying to do everything you can to help them over the hurdles they have faced. You've just been through a particularly hard time with the schools/evaluations etc.

As the mother of two children who have minor medical issues, mostly just learning disabilities, I have struggled with these types of things, and I don't have to worry about the major medical issues that you do. I accept that my kids will always struggle in school and with related issues, and that I probably haven't always made the "right" decision, but I'm going to do my part to make it easier when I can and realize that there isn't always a cut and dried "right" answer.

As you consider the pros and cons, I seem to remember that Rees got very sick after your trip last year. I am one of the many that has an immune system that fails me when I've been under a lot of stress and not gotten rest. Do you think that he's likely to get sick after stressful (even if it's what we consider happy stress or stimulation) events?) Or more likely, just because of the time of year with cold/flu season so not likely to make a difference? I know that you were careful not to go commando, so this might not have even been a factor.

Bottom line -- You are doing a wonderful job with your figs! I think that is the main theme of what your DDA friends are saying.

Hang in there and know we are always here for those big (and little) decisions.

Yes, I did! But actually, I enjoyed reading every comment. You guys are too funny!

However, you missed some of "my" movies. Grease and Star Wars (the original). They both came out when I was in high school. Star Wars was awesome. I don't think anyone that wasn't a teen when it came out could truly understand it's impact. It was so different than anything before. So real!!! We have been watching reruns of TV shows and other movies from when we were kids and they are so lame. Anything with singing & dancing is a favorite of mine.

And Kate ... I was only a young mother when Pretty Woman came out but I had a problem with so many young girls idolizing a hooker. Old fogey that I am!!!!! :rotfl: I loved the story line but kept wishing they had not made her a hooker.

We LOVE GREASE and Star Wars.

Don't know why but this reminded me of a quote that we used to say at Michigan Tech.

Michigan Tech
Where the men are men,
The women are too,
and the sheep are nervous!!

When I went to Michigan Tech, there were 7 guys for every 1 girl. We also used to say about any girl that went to Tech for anything but an engineering degree that she was there for her M.R.S. degree. Engineers coming out of Tech made majorly good money back then. Don't know about now. Sad thing is it was true for about 50% of them, the other 50% were from the area and just wanted to stay near home.

Isn't amazing the random thoughts that you have when you hear something?

Our fight song was:

We are, we are, we are, we are, we are the Engineers,
We can, we can, we can, we can, drink all of 40 beers.
Drink up, drink up, drink up, drink up, and come along with us,
For if you don't give a darn for any man, you don't give a darn for us.

There were many, many verses added over the years but that is the only one I clearly remember.

Thank you all so much for making me feel loved and less neurotic. You're compassion for my family is overwhelming, and you've got me in tears. i think I may switch back to December. I just couldn't live with myself if I put Rees at even a bigger disadvantage. And, we'll get the GAC again which helps tremendously with crowds and lines. I don't like the crowds, but we can work around them by going EARLY and using TGM.

I'm still going to hold on to both ressies for a while, but I think I know which way I'm leaning. Thanks again.

I pray that all works out for you and your family.

Julie: I'm not that familiar with AP's but from my understanding they only come out about 3-4 months in advance? (Anyone else know this? Bueller? Bueller?)
They should already be out for the DDA trip in May if you're going on that one.

Denise: I'm switching sides too; stay with December. You're stressing yourself out over taking them out of school. You don't need to do that to yourself! (I'll also be selfish and say that as much as I'd like to meet you there, if you don't go, that make the week I go less crowded! :teeth: ) But seriously, do what makes the family happy. Keep both and cancel the "right one" when the time comes around!

Oh we did this one too, or a version of it! Ours went:

"Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider
Girls go to Mars to eat more candy bars"

Except then some of us were concerned about the effect that would have on our hips (sad, but true!) so we adopted the one that went:

"Boys go to Jupiter to get more stupider
Girls go to Mars to meet more movie stars".

Apparently we were on to something, knowing that movie stars (ie Tom Cruise) were from another planet! :rotfl:

Ok, I'm really going now :)

I was "just going to get a quick shower", but got sucked back in! :confused3

My mom went into labor with me watching Star Wars at a theatre in Lubbock, Texas. I was born a sci-fi geek and still am. I wanted to marry Darth Vador or Captain Kirk when I was 4, don't ask me why...

For you DFW gals out there there is a local Dis Meet at the end of the month. Here is the link, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1077986

Now I'm off to work for the day. I probably won't be back for a few days! I close tonight, open tomorrow and then go out with my sister and fam for her birthday, then I close Saturday and am going to Scarborough Faire on Sunday! Whew! So, if I don't pop back on sometime have great weekends.

(My Narnia DVD just arrived :cool1: )

TTFN!!!
