Maybe you could call and cancel if they haven't shipped yet. John said I should find a job where all I do is Google stuff. ;)

I've already received notification that is was shipped. The good news is the ball was on sale for $59.00. Of course I still had to pay shipping, but I bought him a new bag too. Overall I think I got a good deal and I know that he will be happy.

Ok everyone, especially Glynis. Here is a recipe that I made today, and John loves it. I use pumpkin pie spice instead of the spices listed. Also I don't like Libby's pumpkin so I use the store brand. Also didn't use walnuts and I always use 2 teaspoons vanilla.

Pumpkin Roll
CAKE
1/4 cup powdered sugar (to sprinkle on towel)
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup LIBBY'S® 100% Pure Pumpkin
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)
FILLING
1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, at room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Powdered sugar (optional for decoration)

FOR CAKE:
PREHEAT oven to 375° F. Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan; line with wax paper. Grease and flour paper. Sprinkle a thin, cotton kitchen towel with powdered sugar.

COMBINE flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt in small bowl. Beat eggs and granulated sugar in large mixer bowl until thick. Beat in pumpkin. Stir in flour mixture. Spread evenly into prepared pan. Sprinkle with nuts.

BAKE for 13 to 15 minutes or until top of cake springs back when touched. (If using a dark-colored pan, begin checking for doneness at 11 minutes. Immediately loosen and turn cake onto prepared towel. Carefully peel off paper. Roll up cake and towel together, starting with narrow end. Cool on wire rack.

FOR FILLING:
BEAT cream cheese, 1 cup powdered sugar, butter and vanilla extract in small mixer bowl until smooth. Carefully unroll cake. Spread cream cheese mixture over cake. Re roll cake. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate at least one hour. Sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving, if desired.

COOKING TIP:
Be sure to put enough powdered sugar on the towel when rolling up the cake so it will not stick.

My Mom makes those all the time. She also fills them with ice cream and then freezes them. They are quite yummy but I prefer the chocolate version.

So my oldest performs the field show in a half hour and I am feeling guilty for not being there. It would have been almost $30 for us to go in to see them....and 2 other bands. So I feel a little guilty but not $30 guilty. :rotfl:
Turns out their scores sunk with the overall general effect(specifically the music) on Saturday...hopefully with home field advantage they will raise back up. Plus the weather is much better tonight.

Why does it cost you money to go see the band play??? That is just not right!

Hieveryone--
im all caught up--today went well for grandpa, and im waiting for them to cal lwith further news..

Im headed out with my dad and brother to watch the dallas cowboys game tonight :) icant wait!!

Jen - glad to hear things are holding steady with your grandpa. So sorry that the Cowboys are not playing well tonight. :sad2:

Yes, Viola is THE leading female role! She will have so much fun!!! Viola is shipwrecked and has to dress as a boy to be able to travel safely in a strange land. She gets hired as a "page" to Count Orsino, hired to take love letters to Olivia. However, Viola falls in love with Orsino, Olivia falls in love with the "page", and it's comic genius!!!! Viola is really a plum role for a woman.

What a great explanation, Glynis! I haven't read this play, so this shows what a great accomplishment it is. WTG, Kristin!!!!! :woohoo:

Hi all...

Checking in. Can't believe we will be in WDW in 7 days!:banana:I sure hope I can get ready.

Still settling in Bill's mother to nursing home life....not easy!

The kids & I made a Mickey Mouse Halloween wreath

wreath-1.jpg

It's good to see you, Kristine, and it will be nice to see you in about a week's time. I'm sure you and Bill could use the time away together. :goodvibes I love your wreath! :thumbsup2

I went to MIL's yesterday and saw the AG stuff. WOW it really is beautiful. Someone will be very happy Christmas morning!

So the kids are pretty much done-just a few stocking stuffers but I still need to figure out what to do for MIL, SIL, SIL/BIL in St Louis and DH's niece/DH in MN. Hey that's all his family shouldn't he have to do that?

I made both Lizzy a countdown with clipart and Joe a countdown chain. I still need to make more ADR's for Joe's trip. I may actually make a reservation for the airport the night before again. If I do just a room without car parking it would be under $100. If we stay at home we'll ahve to take the 6:15am boat so that would be leaving the house at like 5:15 as my friend said she'd drive us to the boat and then pick us up at the airport. I'm kicking myself for not going to Disney on Saturday. Staying at the airport would get us closer and Joe could do room service. He was asking me if we could do it at Pop.:rotfl: He saw it on some TV show.

I'm so impressed with all of you and your Christmas shopping. I'm usually just beginning to think about it come October - it seems like everyone's wants/needs change so much to do it any earlier. I am relieved, though - most of our gifts to everyone this year will be the Disney trip. I think we're going to still do gifts for our parents, but all the brothers, SIL's, and nieces and nephew are done by default! I do love shopping for the kids usually, but as I also spend way too much time triple-thinking each buy, it's probably a blessing that I don't have to do anything for them this year. :goodvibes

Well, things are getting really slow and a certain little one is acting as if she needs some sleep, so I'm going to head out. Good night all!

I had to get off the DIS because it was moving so slowly about an hour ago. Seems to be better now, though. :confused3

Why does it cost you money to go see the band play??? That is just not right!

Because each of the invitationals is a fundraiser for the host school. They "give" a certain amount of extra entrances for people. Usually one tenth of the band....so 10 for our band. Tomorrow we are the half host school (along with the Heritage...Arapahoe gets their own tonight) so we split all concession and 90% of the gate (10% goes to CBA to pay for judges and the like) it raises almost $3000 each year for us.

I just can't see paying that much, sometimes twice a week, to see my kid.

Thanks, Lindsay! And, I think a WDW vacation is a wonderful Christmas gift!

Sheesh! I agree. It is one thing for a college or university to charge money for concerts and plays, but HS?? Makes no sense to me either.

Probably because the school is doing it for a fund raiser. Our Atlantic Coast Championships at Lackawanna Stadium I think cost about $15 a ticket. This was about 7-10 years ago. I could imagine they are almost that price now. Plus the parents used to rent a bus, and a press box at the stadium. I think it was $50-$60 to ride the bus, have food, seats and access to the press box.

And that was the reader's digest condensed version. I didn't even get into any of the subplots of Sir Andrew, Sir Toby, and Malvolio. Suffice it to say, it is one of the best comedies that Shakespeare wrote. It was also the last comedy he wrote. After finishing Twelfth Night, his only son died, and he was plunged into his "black" period, writing Hamlet, Macbeth, King Lear, and Othello.

Glynis-I love Shakespeare (my favorite place in England is Stratford). You've got an excitement for the Bard that comes through with your posts, makes me want to reread some of the plays and open others I haven't read (which I think is 2).

How did they end up doing tonight, Theresa?

I hope you and Abby are feeling better!

Evening everyone!

Can I ask a favor please? :teeth: Lindsay's post made me think of this actually...
Would everyone mind posting a few things for the October trip?

Who made what reservations?
How many seats you reserved?
Which reservations your scheduled to join everyone at?

This way whomever made the reservation can make sure that there are enough seats and we know what the ADR name is under in case someone arrives late.

(Forgive me if I'm stepping on anyone's toes!)

I didn't make any reservations ;) , but I think this is where all I'm scheduled to eat:

Thursday: LTT for dinner before MNSSHP
Friday: Rose & Crown for dinner
Saturday: Cape May for breakfast; PFTS that night
Sunday: Kona for breakfast

For those who made the reservations, can you confirm the times?

Thanks!!!!!!

I am so glad to hear this, Lindsay. The only ADR you need to worry about is the PFTS one and you have that taken care of! Everyone else has you covered, so just sit back, give up some of the control and relax a little for this one trip!

When I first started taking my October trips with Disney friends I realized that we had about 4-5 out of the 12-14 women who went who were MAJOR planners (I was one of them!). I knew that was going to cause major friction and decided to step back and let them handle it all. It was really hard at first not really knowing when and where we were going, but after a couple of trips with them I knew I was in good hands. I hope you get to feel that way in the next 9 days or so. ;)

Thanks, Elin. :goodvibes It's not that I'm really worried about the giving up control aspect, I just want to make sure that I have somewhere to eat! ;) :rotfl:

Ok, Lindsay, this has me worried. PLEASE doublecheck your suitcase and make sure you packed your pants. :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Done! ;)

And I hope XH remembers he HAS the kids!

:scared1: :confused3 ;)

I fully understand the need to raise money (maybe not as much as they apparentyl want to raise!) but, for goodness' sake... the parents have already shelled out lots of money for their children to participate in the band from the very beginning. And, this is a school night and not the first "money-raiser" of the week. :confused3 :sad2:

Looks like you get to eat next week, then! :thumbsup2 :goodvibes :rotfl:

Abi is doing much better....I've had a headache all day...not bad enough for my medicine but icky.

I am waiting with baited breath for Cassidy to get home...she just called and I asked and she told me she'd tell me when she got home...the STINKER!!!:lmao:

time for bed... good night, friends!

there is 3 competitions (and a homecoming football game that we want to go) in less than a week so I think we will just go to the football game if anything.

In this case though this was the one big event. The others were more reasonably priced at about $5. That one was more expensive because they had to pay to rent the facility. I still don't feel that parents should have to pay to see their child perform after giving so much of their time and energy. They didn't have to pay for indoor concerts.

I agree that it is sad, that it is so expensive. But I know at the high school I went to they charged some ridiculous price to run the stadium because the lights cost so much money. Since they are unfortunately not drawing the crowds that football is they charged more for the band event then the athletic events. I know it is not fair. Please don't get me more riled up then I have already been today.

Let's just say I loved my job as of last night today I liked my job. I had 30 emails total back/forth about one issue for a service unit. Plus another unit had a leader who did not act appropriately. Gotta love the fun times.:thumbsup2

Holy cow, the Cowboys just pulled it out!

What a game - Jonathan is running through the house screaming. 6 turnovers by our QB, and they win in the last few seconds with a 50+ FG (that the kicker had to kick twice). Unbelievable.

I know Jen is happy tonight! :woohoo:
