Denise - hope your eye gets better

we are off to the doctor a little later b/c Nick who has been spiking fevers all week - starting holding his throat today and saying OW!
I hope he doesn't have strep. Or maybe that would be a good thing because then you could get an antibiotic. :confused3

Thanks!!!

My friend taught me how to remember who's who. Chip is the one with the black nose-like chocolate chip. I could never forget a chocolate reference.

I sent you a PM with that cheer info, but I was also thinking. Has Julia shown any interest in dance (I mean, in addition to high school musical  ). I worked for a company a few years ago that had a REALLY cool program. I could really see Julia having a blast there, from the stories you've told!

The owner started in California and ran dance classes within preschools in the area. That happens around here as well, and some parents really love it. They also have a normal studio in Fairfield (which the original owner owns and sometimes teaches), which I actually recommend over the centers. This way you can watch if you want, etc and I think the teachers are a little more experienced in the studios.

The classes are unique in that, at least at a younger age, they have some that offer "tap", "ballet" and tumbling. I put tap and ballet in quotes because, while the children learn some basics of each dance form, it's not what you're expecting with formal dance teaching. They use props, dance to lots of fun songs (including Disney!) and really have a great time. I know Helen offers free trial classes if you wanted to try it out. You can find out more here:

Webby Dance Company

And let me just say that I really think kids LOVE this program. Otherwise I wouldn't recommend it, because goodness knows I get nothing out of referring anyone (even if I still worked there). The parents and kids are treated REALLY well, though, let me assure you of that. :rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Let me know if you have any questions about the cheer programs or webby!

Just thought of this -

my BIL is an eye doctor and swears pink eye can not be cured by antibiotics - pain might be relieved but it is a virus and has to run its course

I am sure his wife and the mother of his children will chime in on this - b/c she tells him he has no idea what he is talking about - that it clears it up everytime - he says the pediatricians just prescribe the medicine to make moms feel better :lmao: and all it does is provide relief

Hmm... I wa pretty sure it could be viral or bacterial. :confused3 Maybe viral is more common?

He's right on though about pediatricians! They're supposed to be learning not to do that (especially with antibiotics, because that just causes more problems long term!), but at the same time, most of them have SEEN mom's in action (namely their own wives  ) and are willing to help spread a little sanity if possible :rotfl:

jennifer -

Julia took dance there last year and she loved it - I picked it b/c they are not a competitive dance studio - and we really liked it

we didn't take it this year - she is much more interested in cheerleading

Ok, so you're familiar with it. I just thought it would be another option, because I thought she would be a perfect fit! :goodvibes

Do you remember her teacher? And did she participate in the recital? I think that they do such a good job with the songs, costumes, etc.... and having the kids sing (when applicable). Makes for a MUCH more exciting dance recital than the ones my parents had to endure! :rotfl2:

My ped told me almost the same thing. He said that there are different varieties of pink eye: viral, bacterial, allergic. Most cases are viral and just need some time to clear up. Bacterial is the one most likely to cause problems for the eye, so they often prescribe the antibiotic drops to make sure. We've only had pink eye three times (once each kid...different times), and the drops did appear to clear it up. I don't know if it would have cleared without the drops or not.

I don't know Vicki - I might be afraid to post anymore pictures!!!

Does anyone have any pictures of Amy's cookies that I could "doctor up" by "putting them on my table" if my attempt doesn't turn out??!! :rotfl: I think I'm going to attempt baking a batch now. Wish me luck! I haven't checked to see if the recipe she posted is the same one she pm'd me (I know others have accused her of not giving out the right recipe). I did notice she had more instructions in her posted one. :rotfl:

Her teacher was Miss Kelly and they danced to Boomps a Daisy

one thing that REALLY disappointed me was that the dance was a partner dance and both girls had to do the dance properly for them to do it - Julia was originally paired with a little girl who refused to practice and was always a problem in class - I was ticked b/c I KNEW that she would not do it at the recital - they ended up switching partners and it was better - but after dress rehearsal julia said to me - she did the dance wrong - and i told her just to do it anyway -

I just think that is expecting a lot from a 3 year old!!!

Yeah, there are a lot of partner dances. And the teachers try (or should try) to pair people up equally, but it doesn't always work out. I don't think I did any partner dances until my Kindergartners. I'm glad she had fun though, overall! :goodvibes

I would love to SEE this parade!!! I think we've seen it once many moons ago, but each time we try to see it now they we are real lovers of Disney - it rains the day we are in Animal Kingdom.

Moral of the story - if you see us arriving in Animal Kingdom - run the other way because it is sure to rain that day and there will be no parade!

Well, I'm smart enough to do a search on the Dis to find your parade lyrics!!! ;)

I just got off the phone with my mom, who is at the hospital visiting my great grandpa. My dad stayed all night :guilty:

They are now just waiting to see if he can kick this infection. His BP is a bit higher, so I assume they started on antibiotics (if not, I'd be screaming. He should have been on boatloads yesterday, but what do Kyle and I know?)

Theoretically, if they DO have him on IV antibiotics things could really look up. Unfortunately, nobody will get straight answers :confused3 I wanted to go so I could ask, but I'm sure they won't tell me anything anyway since I'm like the farthest-of-kin-possible, not next or anyone able to make decisions. I'm glad my mom is there though, she knows what she's talking about and is pushy :rotfl:

So who knows. Without more concrete answers about what meds he's on, etc, I have no idea what the prognosis is.

I do know that I still feel confident in my list of hospitals that I'd like to be taken to if ever necessary, and which ones I wouldn't!

Good thing I'm not going for the decorating prize on these cookies after getting a reminder of what her cookies look like all laid out like that.

I was just trying to see if they worked and how they tasted. I have to say it is the best sugar cookie recipe I've made so far. I used about 1/4 of the dough and got 11 cookies. Very yummy. I cooked them a little too long. My oven must be too hot because I cooked them for the minimum time. I'll turn it down just a little next time.

I only decorated one cookie so I could try it. Becky likes to help with the decorating. I might get some of that fondant and give it a try. Though I'm a traditional frosting person myself. I'm also thinking about getting the decorating tips people use for cakes. One of the DDA (can't remember who right now - must be my age) does some really cool looking cookies with that and I thought I'd give it a try sometime.

Since I was experimenting anyway, I tried something I'd read somewhere. Instead of using flour on the top to help with the stickiness, I put a large piece of waxed paper on top and rolled on that. It worked like a charm. I did put some flour on the bottom but I've never had trouble with that. No sticking for the first time ever - my roller sticking and tearing the dough is my least favorite thing about making sugar cookies.

Thanks for the recipe Amy. I'll be making the rest of them later today and will definitely use this as my sugar cookie recipe now.

Going into the oven - my last cookie is always an odd shape (just can't throw out the dough)

Gotta go do some straightening up since my Mom's coming tonight. I'm also having lunch with my best friends today. Mya comes home with Mom today as well. That is our one year old Cockapoo. We have missed her!!!

We saw this for the first time in December. It is really cute. They pick quite a few families to be in it. The beat of the song is really catchy!

I made one last very quick design (one of the main reasons I was an hour later leaving for our trip than I wanted to be). Becky had asked me to make this for her to put on a hoodie and I'd forgotten. I threw it together very quickly. It looked very nice. She got more notice with this one than the family one.

Well I'm glad they turned out! I've heard they're very yummy now from several people.... I'm going to have to give them a try when I can find the time! Amy's picture is pretty daunting, though, that's why I warned you! :rotfl2: Yours look like they turned out great, though!

Have fun with your mom and your puppy! What an exciting evening :goodvibes
