I was just looking at Marti's link, and I realized the style I just bought was the Nile. I bought them at Dilliards this past Friday for $29, since I didn't have time to wait for them to be shipped. They had just gotten them in and from what I remember, they had them in navy and black.

Amy :)

Can you tell me about the Niles? Do they have anything between the toes? Or are they just open toed with a strap around the heel? Are they comfy? Would I be able to walk across DL in them? Right now, I'm waffling between the Nile and the Beach styles. Help me out, people.

Glynis!!! Wow!!! 75 lbs. wtg!! you the woman!!!
I can't wait to see pictures...but I do understand the fear of getting pic's taken...so much easier to be behind the camera than in front of it!!

It doesn't help that every time I go by a mirror, I still see the fat girl. DH can't believe that I can't see a change, but I really don't. I think when you've been fat for so long, it's hard to believe that you can change that much. The only thing that makes me believe it is the carload of clothes I've given to goodwill, and the new clothes that are starting to appear in smaller sizes.

Glynis -- way to go! What a major accomplishment!

Denise -- hope the triplefigs are on the road to recovery and that you and your DH don't get it.

Oh my goodness!! I am so sorry I don't have any suggestions just wanted you to know that I am here for talking if you need it.....Is Riley in 4th grade? 4th grade was the hardest for both of my girls...emotionally(we are still there with Abi), physically and school wise.
I am betting that you are a wonderful mom, and I'm not a betting person.
You will get through this!!

tinknme,
I just wanted to add that 4th grade was one of the worst times for both of my boys as well. I found that scheduling an appointment with the doctor to get a referral for counselling usually cleared things up, and I ended up cancelling the appointment by the time it came around. So I would say if things don't get better soon, I would consider making an appointment with a counselor, but don't be surprised if it ends up being a phase.

I can relate to your feelings on parenting too. My DS17 is getting poor grades in his senior year, and no matter how many times we discuss the importance of doing well, things don't seem to change, or only for a short time. He has already been accepted to Michigan State, so I guess he thinks his grades aren't important any more. :sad2: Every time one of the kids messes up, I tend to feel like I screwed up somehow.

:grouphug: to you. I'm strongly believe that things will get better.

Glynis -

I am very proud of you!!! You have such great discipline! I wish I could get my butt in gear and take off this extra weight!!!!!!!! I think you should post your after picture and inspire us all!!!!!!!!!!!

With all the talk of Chick Fil-A I went out for lunch - I figured I'd treat myself (that and I could avoid studying a little further :rolleyes1 ) but the closest thing was Burger King -- its just not the same..........

Marti, If you want a cold one (Chick A Lick that is) my DS will be flying in from Atlanta about 7PM Tuesday night. We could have a Chick Fil A meet at the Rochester airport!

Does that mean you will be taking him to Lansing for college and visiting him there? If so, I go to Lansing once a month. Maybe, two more DDA friends can meet. That would be cool. Vicki

How was the thingy between your toes? Comfy? Do you have any other styles or is this your first?

I barely noticed it - it really wasn't big at all. I own a pair of regular Crocs that don't have any holes in them but I don't remember their name. I think the flip flops are more comfortable. They are definitely more "cushiony" than my pair of shoes. Hope that helps.

When I was in college, I worked in an embroidery store. It was my favorite job EVER!! I designed shirts and embroidered them. I have always wanted to open my own embroidery shop.

The machines that do that are so expensive though! I don't think I could talk my DH into that!!!

Why not Kate - we're going on a girls weekend aren't we???

Yes, we should be taking him in August... Definitely would be cool to meet! I'll have to keep you posted on the dates when we know for sure.

You are all the biggest bunch of enablers I have never met!!!

I also want to say - I think CROCS are just too ugly and have resisted - plus they didn't seem that comfy to me -

was curious about the sandals but hate things between my toes

Then you have to go and post the Nile - I am going to have to get those for our may trip -

I found this site that has 20% off CROCS

http://www.islandtrends.com/

guess I need to try them on first!!

Make sure you check out the shipping costs too!

I think those are some of my favorite pic's of you Vicki!! I saw your response to the autograph pages and I have been working on autograph pages for my girls but I think I will move my way out of my comfort zone and do my own too!!

Thanks. You don't know how much that means. They are the first pictures in about 8 years that I didn't cringe at. I am wearing a size 10 now. Haven't been in those for at least 8 years. Some of my 10's are getting a little large - woohoo!!!!

I need advice:

Julia has begged me for the last few months to do cheerleading -so I called our local cheerleading gym and they told me tuition was $45 a month, then there were competition fees around $50 for 3 local competitions and the uniform - and they get less expensive uniforms b/c they grow so quickly - this seemed reasonable to me and so I enrolled Julia in tumbling class at the gym and told her she could do pee wee cheer next year. I was told by several people that the pee wee option was for people who want to see how they feel about it and an affordable option.

None of what I was told seemed out of line to me

Tonight they released all the information for next year.

Listen to these fees:

$130 coaches fee
$45 monthly tuition
$35 annual registration fee (which I paid when I enrolled her in tuymbling)
$125 uniform (this is supposed to be a cheap one?!!?)
$8 in hairbows
$12 bloomers for under skirt
$40 practice uniform
$150 warm up suit
5 competitions averaging $75 each (3 in other cities about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away so if they are early we will have to stay overnight in a hotel)

and this does not include gas, pictures, crap she will want to buy at competitions, end of the year banquet and what if she outgrows the $400 required clothing?!?!?

I figured out it will be close to $1500 for her to cheer next year without all the extras

I am mad that I paid the annual registration fee - I think they hid a lot of fees from me - they told me the uniform was about $120 - um think they could have mentioned the other $280 in required clothing?

and now - I have a little girl who is going to be crushed - I told her she could cheer -

I told her tonight it was too much money and I was going to see if I could find another gym but I am not sure anywhere else will be much better!!

Any ideas out there?

Conveniently we will be there in May !! We'll pick some up for you!

OK. Here is the first step done for Amy's famous cookies. They are supposed to be in the fridge 4 hours or overnight so I'll bake some tomorrow. I'll post pictures of the next step to show you how they turn out. Wish me luck!!

ETA: I'll frost mine. Sugar cookies just aren't sugar cookies for my family without regular old frosting.
