Tammi, I had the chicken pox when I was 3. My parents best friends were supposed to go to Jamaica and we were going to watch their 2 sons. They came down with chicken pox two days before the trip. My mom said "Send 'em over!" so we could pass it through our house. I don't remember much except one night my mom stuck me in the tub and dumpend a whole bottle of calomine lotion over my head and let it run all over me since I was covered in those itchy bumps!!

Does any one know what the vaccine is supposed to do? or is Tammi our guinea pig on it? :teeth:

Kristin
Don't know if this has been answered yet, as you all were very chatty in less than 2 hours, but from what I understand it is supposed to curb the harshness of the virus, not prevent it. You would still get it, although it would be a milder case than what we experienced as youngsters. I was in 6th grade when I got them and I can remember being miserably itchy and looking horrible!

Congratulations on the weight loss!

But funny you should post about Crocs - when I went to grab something to eat, I stopped in at Dicks Sporting Goods to try on the Athens (flip flops) and the colors were: all black, white with tourquise or white with orange. I bought the all black ---- they are even more comfortable than the Croc shoes that I have!! I found the sizing a little weird; I normally take an 8, but I tried those on and was swimming in them. I tried on the 7, still too big! I tried on the 6 and they fit great! Just something to think of.
Um, Marti, could they have been Men's sizing??

I just bought the same shoe, but I had to buy a 7. I swear, ever since I was pregnant with Alyssa, that my right foot is slightly bigger than my left! I also need to paint my toenails before our trip next week!

Amy :)
My left foot has always been slightly bigger than the right. But they both grew a half size since my pregnancies. I've read that this is quite common, from the hormone that the body releases to make your cartiledge (sp?) softer for labor. That in turn makes your bones separate some, and they never go back. Hence, bigger feet. Does that make sense?

Ok, we are under a winter storm warning today. It has been flurrying (sp?) all day with nothing and I just looked out my window and my grass is now completely covered in snow :(

It was 70 degrees last Saturday- what is going on!!!!!!!!!
They are calling for a chance of snow here tonight. It was 85 on Monday!!!

i believe that too. my grandfather had lived an awsome life. went to the hospital for uti(i think) and died. he was like life was great bye. i know thats morbid but i think we all know when we are ready to leave.

My grandma died after years of dementia (similar but not alzheimers). Grandpa went to the nursing home and helped her with every meal. If he didn't show up, the staff called my aunt to check on him. Less than a year after she died, he got sick and went in the hospital. It didn't seem that serious. However, he decided that he wanted to be with Grandma. He stopped eating. He told my uncle it was just too hard. We assume he meant too hard without Grandma. Some of the family were upset with him but he was in his 90's and had a wonderful life. They definitely know when it is time for them. It was hard on us but I was happy for him.

I just got off the phone with Lizzy's teacher. She said "I was going call you". Seems like Lizzy has been kissing her best friend Yvette too. That explains why when I told Lizzy she shouldn't be kissing anyone at school she responded with "I forgot the no kissing rule". I was wondering where she had heard the no kissing rule since we didn't know we had to give one. So...the teacher and guidance councelor will both talk to Lizzy & Charlie and the guidance councelor will call me so that I can "use the same language" with Lizzy as she's getting at school concerning these "private" matters. I've got to say I feel a lot better having talked to the teacher.

And the teacher is very supportive of our late May trip which helps a lot too. She said Lizzy has been much more talkative with her since the teacher returned from her Disney trip. Lizzy can be very quite. The teacher said she felt like a whimp because she wouldn't ride TOT and she knew it was one of Lizzy's favorites.

I'm glad you finally heard from the teacher and that you feel a little better. I so do not look forward to my children growing older.

Do you know what Paul either read or heard? That if you consume two twelve ounce cans of sugared soda (not diet) a day - that would be responsible for 36 pounds in one year!! At least I'm on diet, I drink more than two a day!

I lost 12-15 pounds in a month by giving up 2-3 24 oz. pepsi's a day. I still have 12-24 oz. every day but I'm getting better. I'm down 22 pounds total right now and most of it is because of giving up the extra pepsi. I am also watching my portions better than ever and not snacking as much but still haven't really started any exercise. The extra calories in pop adds alot!!!

Update on Grandpa-He had his surgery today. Well, sort of. They checked him out and decided that closing him back up right away would be the best decision. He's being admitted into hospice today. I'll be finding flights from San Diego for my aunt and uncle, I think they've decided on coming in this Saturday. I haven't been to the hospital yet (still debating on seeing him like this or remembering him sitting in his Lazy Boy chair eating his chocolate without nuts). From the family that is there now, he's ready to see his late wife and comfortable with the decisions that had to be made. Thanks for the prayers everyone! (It's odd knowing that this thread, only finding it a month ago, makes me feel better  The kindness of strangers is awesome!)

I'm so sorry to you and your family. Prayers and PD during this difficult time.

Like a cup of each in the batter? Another cup on top?

You are killing me with this!!!!!!!!! I gave up baking for lent and my list of things to "try" is a mile long!!
wink.gif

Are you crazy! Do you know how long lent is? You are supposed to give up something that effects YOU. Not everyone around you who benefits from the love you put in every thing you “bake”.

I'm shouldn't talk, last week I forgot we were in lent and couldn't figure out why DH wouldn't eat at Subway or have Pizza night. He kept saying, we can eat at this fish place or what about pasta. He actually got mad because I kept suggesting meat type places to eat until I got it. Wow did I feel like a dork.

Amy, Thank you for the recipe, I will give it a try next week. I would try this weekend, but I have weekend duty with the Air Force Reserve.

Jennifer- Happy Happy Joy Joy!! Congratulations!!!

Lovesdumbo- Thank you for the Michael’s link. I love to use my 40% off coupon. I will look for these at the store in town.

Sorry to hear about the bus kissing thing. I hope that gets fixed straight away.

Tammi- The military doesn’t give us lots of choices about vaccinations. Yes I guess we could flat out refuse them, but then we get the lecture of our lives and every time the child is seen we get asked when the child will be getting the vaccine. I believe both girls have had chicken pox vaccine. I know Ellie has and she is fine. Although she has not been exposed to pox as far as I know. Good luck with it all.

Yelllowfish- I hope all is well w/ grandpa. I am glad to hear he has his own apartment type room.

Glynis- FABULOUS job on the weight loss. I lost 40 lbs in a year doing Weight Watchers. I am now a Life Time member and plan to keep it that way. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!

Yeah for all of you who got cheap tickets for your travels!!!!!!
