I need advice:

Julia has begged me for the last few months to do cheerleading -so I called our local cheerleading gym and they told me tuition was $45 a month, then there were competition fees around $50 for 3 local competitions and the uniform - and they get less expensive uniforms b/c they grow so quickly - this seemed reasonable to me and so I enrolled Julia in tumbling class at the gym and told her she could do pee wee cheer next year. I was told by several people that the pee wee option was for people who want to see how they feel about it and an affordable option.

None of what I was told seemed out of line to me

Tonight they released all the information for next year.

Listen to these fees:

$130 coaches fee
$45 monthly tuition
$35 annual registration fee (which I paid when I enrolled her in tuymbling)
$125 uniform (this is supposed to be a cheap one?!!?)
$8 in hairbows
$12 bloomers for under skirt
$40 practice uniform
$150 warm up suit
5 competitions averaging $75 each (3 in other cities about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away so if they are early we will have to stay overnight in a hotel)

and this does not include gas, pictures, crap she will want to buy at competitions, end of the year banquet and what if she outgrows the $400 required clothing?!?!?

I figured out it will be close to $1500 for her to cheer next year without all the extras

I am mad that I paid the annual registration fee - I think they hid a lot of fees from me - they told me the uniform was about $120 - um think they could have mentioned the other $280 in required clothing?

and now - I have a little girl who is going to be crushed - I told her she could cheer -

I told her tonight it was too much money and I was going to see if I could find another gym but I am not sure anywhere else will be much better!!

Any ideas out there?

Do you have any recreation parks, they are normally much more reasonable.
Good luck finding a place,

Thank you all for your really sweet posts about the letter - I am really still in shock!!! Belle really is an AMAZING person!!! I don't think she will ever realize what she means to me and my little girl!!!

and Jennifer - when Steve and I were watching Julia ride the teacups with Belle in October he turned to me and said "Okay - you're right - DVC is worth every penny!"

Okay Croc lovers - I need advice

I went to the store and tried on the Nile crocs today

the 7's were too small and the 8's were too big -

I definately can not wear the 7's - the 8's just felt like they were going to fall off

I guess maybe I am just not meant to be a croc girl

All right I did have to leave the house because I wanted to give them pointers on what to do. :rotfl2: But when I came back this afternoon I asked them why they couldn't clean like this every Saturday w/o the nagging:

Cassidy: "I guess I was in a cleaning mood today" :lmao: (took her dad 1 hour to get her out of the bed this morning!!). Last night it was "why do I have clean up after everyone?".....which made me :furious: and then :lmao: because we wouldn't have had to have last night's conversation if she was the slave she was claiming to be.

Abi: "Maybe it was the talk you did last night" I have such a people pleaser here

Jim: no comment...suppose I might actually get feedback from him when the girls are asleep. But I didn't think it was fair that he didn't "get" to nag....guess they had enough last night.

Me: I got to go to a bookstore, lunch and a paint your own pottery place w/o kids!!

I still need ideas on consequences for work not done.....I don't think this is going to last long!

I actually have remembered you sharing that ever since you guys came back. That's why as soon as I was reading the story about your letter today, I equated that particular disney magic to DVC.....

seriously, Kyle is so set on it! out of nowhere, but I'll take it. even if it doesn't work out in the time frame we're looking at, at least I won't have that "convincing-the-DH" obstacle! :rotfl:

This is what happened to me when I tried on the beach style...small was too small but my feet were swimming in the mediums.

With the Nile, the 7's fit me just perfect, but if my feet grow again this pregnancy, I guess I'll have to chuck them (or give them to my sister :) )

Amy :)

P.S. Hope Nick is feeling better and that's an awesome surprise you got today! Maybe Zac Efron will send you his autograph one day too! ;) :teeth:

Michaels doesn't but I bet Hobby Lobby does!!!

And Hobby Lobby usually has a 40% coupon in the Enquirer, every other Sunday. Look tomorrow in either the Travel or Life sections.

Does this mean you have talked yourself into buying one?

I read a post on the CB about this. It was recommended to put the Crocs in the dryer for a few minutes to warm them up, and then put them on your feet and that will stretch them out. That might work for the 7's. I wouldn't know what to do with the 8's. Hope this helps.

I wasn't an issue of being tight - my toes were over the edge of the shoe - it fit in the 8 but was too loose everywhere else - maybe it would shrink the 8 a little - I might have to go read the croc threads to see what I can find out!!

Someone might have an answer. I ended up ordering the Beach style, since that was the only style I could find to try on. I just didn't dare order the Niles for that very reason.

Forgive me for not quoting anyone else...I'm trying to get caught up on all the posts since last night by working backwards, but I'm so tired my eyes can't focus anymore! And I can't even drink any caffeine, because I drank my "coke for the day" at lunch.

We spend the morning doing some last minute shopping for our trip: sandals for Alyssa, t-shirts for Kevin, dark t-shirt transfers, etc.

Lunch at Chick-fil-a (of course I had to include this!) :teeth:

Then I baked for three hours: 51 lions (but two casualties that Kevin and Alyssa gladly ate ) and 50 elephants. I took pictures along the way, but I decided to freeze them and I'll frost them upon our return, a day or two before Alyssa's party, so you'll have to wait so I can finish the process.

Oh, and of course, I burned my arm on the last batch of cookies. :furious:

That was followed by dinner, Alyssa's bath, and now, lots and lots of laundry.

I'm turning the computer over to Kevin soon, so he can print our 70 pictures of characters for Alyssa's autograph book. I'll be putting that together tomorrow.

Whew! So, I'm exhausted! I hope everyone is having a good night.

Amy :)

That's funny. I went to Dicks and did the same thing, except they didn't have any Niles. Only the beach and the aspens. What size of shoe do you normally wear? I'm trying to go by everyone elses foot sizes.

Where do you live?? Don't you live near Lancaster. There is one in Wyomissing isn't that closer than 90 minutes? Also there is one in York and Shrewsbury.

Hey Steffy,
Think we could do the one in York for lunch next week? :lmao: :lmao:

It would only take us about 40 minutes to get there! :lmao:

Too funny I was just posting how I wasn't buying any until I can find the Nile or Athens to try on. I went to Dick's today and they only have the Beach and Aspen.
