I wanted to do this on my 22nd birthday. One of my friends, ended up having to go to work, so we ended up like running around World Showcase, another one never made it through her first margarita. Let's just say things did not go as planned. Perhaps the problem was we didn't quite have a plan. I enjoyed my food at Mexico, and the drinks I had and had a blast and that is all that really matters. One of these days I will try again.
That would have been me. I couldn't finish mine last year.

140 days people 140 days!!!!!!

:grouphug: to all in need :grouphug:

My kids are buying me a brick!!!:dance3: :dance3: :yay: :yay: :yay: My son is faxing the request tomorrow. I so hope for in front of the MK!!! OMG!!!!! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

I will be able to find it in... say it with me....

140 days people 140 days!!!!!!
Congrats on your brick! What will it say?

YUMMY cookies!!

I have a question, what Resort restaurant would you recommend we try on one of our MGM days in November. DH is strictly a meat and potato kind of guy, nothing fancy so that limits our choices, any suggestions? :confused3
Not exactly near MGM but you may want to consider Ohana for your DH. Lots of meat there.

Oh yeah. My mother has decided to join us for our last week. Now I need to wait for a good DING for her airfare. I guess I'll need to make her a set of shirts too ;)
 That's great!

Amy - It looks like Kevin & ALyssa had fun, even if it took Alyssa a minute to decide that it was fun! My worst nightmare is being splashed with water, so I don't know if I will ever ride Splash or Kali.
I keep telling Joe he can wear his poncho on those rides. He wouldn't ride BTMR for the longest time because he didn't want to walk past Splash. He hates to get wet. He won't do Pirates. He said he'd do Splash with a poncho but now he says you aren't supposed to wear a poncho. I think he'd really enjoy the rides if he wasn't freaking out about getting wet.

Okay, let's just agree these are the cutest little Crocs you have ever seen...

And my DD's birthday cake as promised...

100_4947.jpg

Okay, I've gotta get some sleep. We have to be at the park at opening. Thank goodness it is only 7 minutes away...:yay: :yay: :yay:
Cute crocs and great cake!

Have I told you how much I hate shaving??:confused3 :confused3 If you are a bit squeamish you may not want to continue. You have been warned.:rotfl: :rotfl2:

This morning I proceeded to skin my right shin. Yep, I removed a quarter inch wide 2 inch long piece of skin off of my shin. I could feel the skin coming off, but it was too late. I think it still may be bleeding not sure, as it is covering in neosporin, gauze and tape.
:scared1: I've done that. Hope it heals quickly.

This whole job/interview thing is driving me batty. A week ago my manager was staying at the store and me too. Now the manager is leaving and who the heck knows what is going to happen with me. My district manager talked to me yesterday about me managing the store, store staffing, etc and I kind of let it slip I had an interview on Monday.

Not sure I wanted to do that but then again considering we are talking about staffing and my manager left her location on about 2 days notice to another location I felt it was polite to let her know. Considering we may have a major staffing issue if I leave since there are only 3 part timers and one only wants to work one day a week and not weekends, the other doesn't want to work weekends, which he only said so yesterday after I talked to DM, but was hired to work every other weekend and the other PT has more flexibility and can work more hours this summer due to only having one college class. It may come back to kick me in the tushie that I said about the interview but I can't change it now.

The other thing with this whole job/ interview thing is I have a 16 day vacation planned in September, the cruises have been booked since March 2006. I know lots of people get special leeways and get to still go on their vacation right after starting a new job. If I am unable to go I will probably be losing money. Plus I will be losing out on my vacation days as we get a pro-rated amount for days we don't use and it is a percentage of the time we have worked so far for the year. But I haven't even been to the interview yet so who knows what will happen.

Sending prayers, :wizard: and  to everyone I did read. Can't remember much right now. I need to find food, go shopping, clean and wrk on my co-leaders gifts. Have a great day everyone.
:grouphug: :wizard: Good luck Monday.

I wouldn't worry too much about what you said to DM. I think she'll appreciate that you were trying to give her a head's up and that this is a very good opportunity for you. I'm sure you'll still have a job with Goldtoe if the GS thing doesn't work (but I don't see how it won't).

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!

We celebrated 19 years on May 28th.
Belated congratulations to you & DH!!!

We'll be 23 years this year. WOW....where to that time go?

Miles had his first swim meet this morning, and did a terrific job! There was a mixup, and he missed his first race. They were so nice about it, though, and they let him swim it after the last heat. He was the only one in the pool, and they even gave him a heat ribbon. He thought that was great. He also actually earned a heat ribbon in his breaststroke.

Laura is at try-outs for Empires right now. I am nervous for her. I hope that her day goes as well.

Matthew drove on actual roads today for the first time.

Beth
Congrats to Miles!

Bernadette,

Thanks for sending me the links to your photos. I haven't had a chance to sit down and go through them yet. I can't wait to see your trip!
I finished photo titles on the first 3 albums. I still need to do the last 2.

I need to finish my trip report here too. I'm not sure where I left off here though.:confused3

So I got Cassidy's report card today.....(let me just say I love messing with my kids head!!) I told her it's the worst report card I've seen from her.....

There were no A's on it :headache:

there were also no D's or F's either!!!:dance3:

The kid passed her math class!!!!
Congrats to Cassidy.

New pics of the kitties.

Arabella likes the drawstring on my jacket.

She was "helping" with our newest shipment of Disney pins.

Snoozing with DS's bag of stuff he pulled out of his locker.

Aurora trying on my Crocs. (She did that herself. She had both feet in there until I got the camera.)

Arabella sleeping in my purse.

SO cute!

Evening all.
Hope everyone had a great Saturday.
Skipped Epcot today.
Tropical Storm here.
Got some much needed rain Friday & Saturday.
Sunday is to be much nicer so will go then.
Anyone seen the new hybrid buses @ Disney?
They are using some of these @ the Camground.
DSCF1499.jpg
Enjoy Epcot! My favorite place. I didn't see those hybrids in May but did have a few of the buses with music. The music matched the parks you were going to.

Hi, Jo! Glad you all got some rain! Busch Gardens looks like fun! I love the pic of the hippo! I can never seem to get a good look at a hippo at AK, and the hippo at our zoo died back when DS was 4 and they never got another one. The hippo, giraffes and elephants are in horrible old enclosures so they won't get another hippo until they have a new habitat to put it in.
Here's a hippo from the Pagnani (gorilla) trail in AK.

Do you ever feel like a hctib without knowing why? It's not even time for PMS yet.
YES. I don't think it always hormone induced. I think mine is stressed induced. I get the feeling that things are out of control and then I get all stressed and cranky and that doesn't really help any but I just can't help it.

Hunter received a letter in the mail today from the Principal of his school:

Dear Hunter

Enclosed with this letter is a free ticket to attend a Vermont Lake Monster game on either July 11 or August 7, 2007. Mrs. Read and I have selected two students from each grade, whom we consider Outstanding Students. If you are able to attend either Lake Monster game, you will join students who have been selected for this honor from schools all over Vermont. You will also have the opportunity to have your name announced during the game.

It has been a pleasure to work with Mrs. Read to honor students from our school who are all around good citizens. Thank you for all you bring to this school. We hope that you enjoy the show.

The Vermont Lake Monster's are our Baseball Team. We will go to the game and he will get to go out onto the field and introduce himself to all the fans. We are so Proud of him. He is very excited. Nick is a little jealous as he is also a Great Student and has had an acceptional year. Oh well, maybe next year.
WOW! Congrat's to Hunter and Nick for a good year too!

I need to go to bed but I've got laundry to do first.

DH is taking his Mom to my company's annual meeting tomorrow. Its in Boston for the first time in 11 years. The keynote speaker is David McCullough who wrote John Adams and other historical books. My MIL will really love this. She's read all his books. DH is a history buff too. I'll stay home with the kids. I'll go to the meeting on Tuesday.

Monday DH & I need to go to the school to finally get the results from the evaluation of Lizzy. I only sent the request in February. They sent the written report home with Lizzy Friday. It will be interesting to see what they have to say. Lizzy was average or high average on nearly skills they tested (84 percentile on perceptual reasoning index) but was at the 12th percentile for "processing speed index". So she's bright but very slow. She's been able to keep up to date but we're very fearful that as the material gets more complex she'll begin to fall behind her peers and she'll have trouble on tests.

Here's what they conclude needs to be done:
*sit close to teacher
*use mix of verbal and environmental cues to help keep her focused and on task
*encourage her to repeat instructions
*provide her with a word/signal she can use to inform the teacher that she needs additional help
*she would benefit from frequent check-ins by the teacher to make sure she's on task
*allow for wait time

I'm trying not to be skeptical but it doesn't sound like much. I guess I was hoping they would have more concrete skills Lizzy could work on to "speed up". I know I can't change her personality but you'd think there would be some way to help her improve her skills rather than just put her in the front of the class. Lizzy is quiet and not a discipline problem so I'm afraid it will be easy to ignore her.

SO I really need to wait and see what they have to say. I'm hoping they were able to use the test results when they placed her next year. Her teacher this year is so patient and really seems to love Lizzy. I hope she has an understanding teacher next year. I hope Lizzy won't have too much trouble transitioning to her new school. She seems excited about it not at all nervous.

OK.....I really must go to bed!

What an amazing award to have been given, Hunter! Congratulations to you for such a great year at school. :cool1: :woohoo: :cool1:

on that note does anybody know if High School Musical clothing comes in grown up sizes at the World. :confused3 (that's what Cassidy wants to get while we're at the World.)

I don't know about at WDW, but I did see HSM Ts at Kohl's yesterday in the junior's dept. Would that work?

So my shopping trip was successful. It only took 4 hours.:headache: I ended up buying a whole suit, however I will only be wearing the jacket on Monday. The pants don't quite fit yet, i need to lose more weight. I was kind of desperate as nothing was fitting/ working so I will wear the jacket with the black pants I have.

That will definitely work out, Becky. And the pants will come in handy in another few weeks or so! ::yes::

Today was a wonderful day. We went to a craft fair this morning, and boy did it get warm in the afternoon. Anyway, there was a 'make your own' candle place and the kids decided they wanted to make one. So I said why don't you each make one and you can give them to daddy for Father's Day. Brilliant. No fuss no muss and only $10 for both. We came home and rested a bit and had dinner, then went over to the film fest. The night was perfect for sitting outside, even a little cool. We didn't get home until about 11:30. Now I am caught up and heading to bed.

That does sound like a perfect day, Tammi. I am glad you all had a good time. And just in time before the weather comes in.

/
Now I am bummed out. Checked the weather, and it is suposed to rain all aftenoon tomorrow.
I will have to convince Hal to take me to Corner Stable outside of Baltimore. They have the best ribs we have ever tasted. In fact, from now on, when my sister comes to visit, I have to pick her up in Baltimore so we can stop there coming and even going :lmao: :lmao:

Am I assuming correctly that this place is north of Baltimore? We love ribs and would be willing to drive to find good ones, but I would rather have it be on our side of the city instead of yours. ;)

ETA: I see that it is on "your" side of Baltimore. That would make a pretty long drive for dinner.... maybe we really need to plan a mini DDA meet in Baltimore and head there for dinner!

Good morning, DDA!!

WTG Hunter!! :cool1:

Yay, Hunter! Have fun at the game!
Deb, no that's not my magic bag. That's my regular purse. I seem to have a problem with carrying very large bags. Perhaps if I can fit a cat in my purse I should consider downsizing!:rotfl2: The last time my back was really messed up the nurse told me I should carry a smaller purse.

Bernadette - Thank you for the hippo pic! I think your brick sounds great! If I take DS to WDW in January we would leave the 17th after school and come home the 22nd. MLK day is late next year, and DS has that Tuesday off, too, so he would just miss one day of school. I would really prefer to go in December with DH, but if we can't then I will look at January. Of course when we went in January '05 the weather was crummy, and it was crummy in February this year so I'll have to think on it some more.

Theresa - Dick's and Nordstrom have the pink Mickey Crocs. That's where I got mine. And Dick's had free shipping on Crocs yesterday so you might check their website. Remember to type out the whole name.;)

Tammi - Sounds like you had fun yesterday! I wish you had come up with something hideous for Father's Day. The candles sound kind of nice.

I watched Pirates 1 again last night, so I am really solid on my understanding of that one. I should watch Pirates 2 before we go to see 3 at 11 AM, but that probably won't happen. DH went to get Krispy Kreme donuts. I really wish we had a Dunkin' Donuts. Krispy Kreme are almost like eating cotton candy - sugar and air!

Good morning everyone.

It's finally raining here, and I'm very thankful that it waited until after the movie was over. Although that messes up my plan to go to the pool today. The only things that I really have planned for today are church and grocery shopping. Maybe a load of laundry too. I need to get moving. Have a good day everyone.

Elizabeth - enjoy Pirates!

Is this a problem? :confused3

YUM! :rotfl:

Oh, it's just a personal preference. I could eat a bunch of Dunkin' donuts, but 2 Krispy Kremes is my max. The texture of Dunkin' Donuts is better for me - I love their jelly donuts! And the blue berry. And glazed. And chocolate frosted. And buttermilk.

We need to find a decent donut shop around here. This is really bizarre, but true:
Most donut shops are in strip centers, and for whatever reason most of them are next door to nail salons. The frosting on the donuts tastes like the fumes from the nail salon. The Krispy Kreme shop is free standing so there isn't that issue, but I don't love Krispy Kreme donuts. You see my dilemma.

Yes!!! But can we wait til after Lucy makes her arrival!! I am all up for it!!!

WTG, Hunter!!!!

WTG on the great year, Nick! It is hard when there are only two tickets per grade. A little jealous is normal as long as you don't allow it to really affect you.

Hi all..I haven't been able to catch up since Thursday. Friday morning our power was out for 3 hours as they replaced the electric box in front of our house. Then I spent 3 hours at Emma's school helping out with field day. It was another 90 degree day so not the smartest move on my part. But it was a lot of fun. Yesterday Emma played her last soccer game, both girl's got their haircuts, we hit the grocery store and then we hung out at the house and had an impromtu cookout with my niece Alyssa, she spent the night, and our neighbor Gail.

Since they are calling for heavy rains all day we are headed to the movies to see Shrek 3. I will try to catch up later! Have a great day everyone.

So, Bob and I have been perusing the food porn thread over on the Disneyland board.... I think the Coke Refreshment Corner at the MK may be the very first place we have to visit because of his ongoing love affair with this entree:

You're making me hungry!

That's really weird about the nail fumes... is there not a good local bakery that has shops around your town? Our local bakery Busken has my favorite donuts by far! :thumbsup2

Wow! Sounds like a great day for everyone. As I read, I hope I find out how Laura did at tryouts.

Well, that may be part of my mood. I'm trying to be an adult about this and no sour grapes, but I am a mother.

Laura placed 14th. Two people ahead of her had to drop for scheduling reasons, so she moved to 12th. That puts her at 2nd alternate which means that she can practice with the team but not go to Games.

That part is all great! I am proud of her!

The problem is harder to explain, but I'll try. We have 4 age groups in our synchro team. There is an 18-19 group that also contains a couple of 16-17 year olds, Laura's group is 13-15, there is an 11-12 group, and there is an intermediate group which is not as skilled as the others. The 11-12 team is coached by someone who is about as type A as you can get, thinks that she and her family are way above everyone else, and does not have much concern about the feelings of others. You'd have to know her to really understand. She also thinks that the girls on her team are much better than anyone else in the club (except for her own daughter, of course). Her team did place 1st in Regionals for their age group and is headed to Nationals. Those girls worked their tushies off and definitely deserve that, but their attitudes have really changed since that has happened. Two of those 11-12 girls also tried out for Empires yesterday, and one of them beat out the best girl on the 13-15 team. There was something really fishy going on in the scoring. I know that that sounds like sour grapes, but it really isn't. If she had beaten just Laura, I would have thought that Laura had a bad day and this other girl had a great day. I wouldn't have thought anything else of it. There is no way that she could have beaten the top girl, though. I don't want to take anything away from her, and I feel like I am being a hctib, but I just know that it isn't possible. This girl scores last in figures on her own team. She has been in synchro for only two years now, and she isn't the next superstar on the way up. Something isn't right. All that still wouldn't have me as upset, though, except that I have heard that the coach now has an even larger head and thinks that her whole team is better than the 13-15 team. Next year, all except one 11-12 will age up to 13-15. Four of six 13-15 members will still be 13-15. "Super Coach" has decided that her team should stay together and stay with her. The head coach always lets "Super Coach" get her way. With the numbers that we have, this basically means that Laura and 2 other girls are getting shafted. The one girl, Grace, that could stay 13-15 (and who was beaten by that 11-12) already has an invitation to move up to the older girls' team. Laura and the other 2 were originally told that they would also be on the older team, too, but now the head coach has told Grace (just her, not the other girls or the coaches) that Laura and the other 2 will not be moving up. The other coaches all think that the team should be split differently and that we could have a terrific A team including the 4 that are staying 13-15 with 4 of the new ones moving up plus a very good B team of the remaining new 13-15's plus a couple of the intermediate girls. If "Super Coach" is allowed to keep her team together (now using the fact that the worst of her swimmers can outswim the best of the 13-15's) and Laura's group doesn't get to move up with the older girls, they really have no team to swim on.

Alot of this is politics. The judges for the figures are some of the coaches (including head coach and "Super Coach"), so it's kind of like Olympic Ice Skating where they pretty much have the order decided before they score. I wish that they could bring impartial judges in, but it is just something that you need to learn to live with if you want to stay with the sport.

That was long-winded, and I'm sure that I sound like one of those mothers who thinks that her children are perfect, but really that isn't the case at all. I don't want to see anyone hurt. I have already told Laura that she is not to say a single negative thing about the 11-12, because I don't want that to get back to her and hurt her feelings. Laura has even said that she doesn't know if she was better yesterday than that 11-12, but she could see that Grace and Meghan were.

My next task is to convince Laura to practice with the team, because it can only help her to get that time in the water. She is so worried about what is going to happen to her next year that she is already threatening to just quit. I am trying to help her keep it all in perspective. I am trying to not let her know that I feel the same way that she does about her getting the shaft. I want her to swim and be happy, and I don't know if that is going to be possible. I just feel so confused and mad, too.

Thanks for letting me vent. I can't vent to dh, because he just doesn't get it. I'm sure that my other friends don't want to hear it, but you can all just skip reading. I do feel better, and maybe the sensible coaches will win out in the end. There are 4 of them to 1 "Super Coach" and 1 head coach.
