How do you tell a kitty where her potty is??? We've always had kittens before....and that was 12 years ago that we last had a kitten. We got the same litter they used at PetSmart....is that enough...she's mad at Jim because he tried taking her to show where the potty is...she is now sulking...Poor Jim has 4 hormonal females now. :rotfl2:

Good Morning DDA!

Thanks to all for all the good thoughts and prayers for my Mom.

She has been admitted into the hospital for further tests. She has all the signs of having a stroke, but her CAT scan came out normal.

She is very disoriented, and dehydrated. She is on IV fluids to help with that.

She didn't know me by name, but did recognize me. She knew my brother Chuck, but called him Charles-Charles-Charles. She thought that was his name.:confused3

She doesn't know what day it is, or how long she was lying on the floor.

The apartment manager said that the last time she checked on her was on Friday morning around 10:00 a.m. Well, her beads were on the door at that time. (Each resident puts a string of beads on their doors in the morning to let everyone know that they got up, and are alright. They take them off by noon, so in theory, she was o.k. at that point.)
Friday evening her friend had tried to call her, but got no answer. He called again on Saturday night, but got no answer again. Finally on Sunday he called the apartment manager and she checked on her and found her on the floor.
The doctors think that she is going to be o.k., but are running tests today to see if they can find out what happened.

Once I knew she was O.K. I went into work. So here I am, tired and exhausted, but too worried to sleep. I will check in on her again this afternoon and head into work again tonight.

Again, many thanks to all my DDA friends for all the prayers and support.

Becky, lots of good thoughts and prayers for your grandfather too!

Talk to you all later!

Tom - thanks for the update. I certainly hope the news continues to be good on your mom. Continued prayers and :wizard: :wizard: . Try to get some rest when you can!

So i just watched m aroon 5 on the Today show...The last song they sang was the song they dedicated to Alyssa when she was alive-She will be loved...While they were singing it, i noticed Adam (lead singer) had Alyssa's bandana wrapped around his guitar strap. Lyss wore that bandana ALL the time s o itw as so neat to see him have it

That is really neat!

As we remember the family members who have gone before us.....I want to take a minute to thank the men and women who have fought for our freedom and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. THANK YOU!!!

Happy Memorial Day!!!

Beautifully said, Theresa, so I'm quoting you. Thank you to all our service men and women!!!!

Let me know if you've already found out or not. I'd be happy to PM you with the details, and the information I found out from an interview with the writers. It kind of changes how things look at the end.

I do still need the info, so please, you or Tammi - send my way when you can! :goodvibes

about a minute ago....Pearl will be coming home this afternoon...now just to find a spot for her litter box!!

Yummy afternoon plans, Tammi!!!

Congrats on Pearl's homecoming!

theresa and elizabeth for you cats to scratch on walmart has some scratch boxes that work well to protect your furniture from get scratched up. hudini loves it. he even sleeps on it sometimes.

I hope you get good news soon, Karen!

Well you can just send that rain down here.
We will welcome it gladly.
It is so dry here.
I think 1/2 the state is burning.

I wish we could send it your way. It's amazing how we couldn't buy a drop of rain last year, and these days, I think we may all just float away! Crazy weather! My assistant is from Tallahassee originally, and she was commenting today how she wishes we could send the rain to Florida!

Happy Memorial Day Everyone,

Tom - I'm so glad to hear some encouraging news about your mom

Jo - You have a right to be proud, but you don't look old enough to have a daughter that age.

Well it has been over 24 hours and my neighbors still have not returned, our guests have taken to our yard quite well, here's a snapshot we took earlier today,

Theresa I hope your new family member adjusts quickly, just remind Abi that cats are very independent and they have to think that everything they do it their idea.

For those of you getting drenched in Texas I wish you could send the rain over this way, my yard is turning yellow from lack of rain. I put the sprinklers on today, hopefully that will help.

Tammi - yes that is my SIL holding his nose

Those kitties are still too cute - and mischevious, it appears!

I'm surprised you're not getting any of this, Debbie, as other than today, it seems most of our storms have been heading east. :wizard: :wizard: that the rain finds you soon!

Kyle and I just got back from POTC3. I thought it was very good! I have to say this though, because it's pretty much consuming me at the moment :rotfl: ...

I have TOTALLY been an Orlando Bloom girl since the days of hot-elf.com ....

but oh my gosh did he look amazing at those scenes towards the end of the movie (no spoilers, I hope you know to what scenes I'm referring) :faint:  :cloud9: :rolleyes1

ETA: The site is back up! Ahh, nostalgic!

:rotfl: :rotfl: ;)

Oh, yeah!!! ITA!!! In the black with the headband, was amazing!!!!!!!

Yes - that's it! Again, I've never thought he's been much to look at, but that was DEFINITELY a good look for him! :thumbsup2

Hello DDA. Just wanted to pop in and wish all a very happy Memorial Day.

Hi, Chris!

Chris hasn't gone to bed yet. He's watching TLC. First there was a show about Gastro Bypass and now it's about a couple with 16 kids going on a family vacation. Can you imagine?

Colby was pretty good today. He didn't complain and was able to put his sneakers on to play outside. We did pin him down before bed and I was able to remove 7 more splinters. He is being great about it, better than I would have been. Tomorrow I'll take him for a wound check. There is one splinter that is too deep for me to dig out so I'll be sure to ask about that on. I think I've got all of the splinters out of his heels and the sides of his feet. I think I only have one more toe to work on. The rest are in the balls of his feet and there are many still there. Thanks for asking.

So glad to hear that things are going well for Colby. It still makes me cringe, though!

Deb- I got a bunch of splinters in my leg from a traveling circus...the last one (and biggest ) finally came out 3 years later. I so feel for your little guy. I am glad he is being a trooper.

Pearl has become queen of the house...and we have what looks like a stray calico outside our back door trying to come in....it's amazing how fast the word gets out that there's a new kitty in town. Pearl has made it clear this is her territory. :rotfl2:

Okay - you totally can't make a comment like this, and not go into details!

Congratulations on getting your kitten, she is a cutie!

Well, my day went as I feared it would. Our event planner called me at 7 a.m. wanting to know what to do - it was drizzling at the park, and the minute the vendors would begin unloading their trucks, we would be committed no matter what. I checked our oh-so-helpful forecasts to find nothing much other than rain was likely, but the radar wasn't very conclusive, etc. So, we pressed on. When I got to the park at 9:30, it was still drizzling, but then at about 10:15 it stopped. By 10:45, you could say there was some sun peeking through the clouds. The picnic began at 11, and folks trickled in (admittedly saying they expected it to be canceled), and by 11:30, you could have almost called the weather partly sunny.

And then, basically out of nowhere, it began POURING at 12:10. Literally, pounding sheets of rain. We had a small tent set-up that the band and food was under, and you've never seen so many people crowd under a spot so fast. Fortunately, I had a couple of golf umbrellas in my car, so that and some trees kept me and the rest of my staff somewhat dry. Typically, this type of rain doesn't last long - but it did today - for almost an HOUR, non-stop. We called it canceled for good around 12:45, but the rain was so hard and thick, that people didn't make a run for their cars until about 1:15. We finished getting our stuff picked up (I've never been so happy to have an event planner to have to take care of meeting all the vendors to pick things up), and were on our way home around 1:45. So, it only ended up being an hour and 15 minutes shorter than it should have been.

Our weather man just said we've had over 3 inches of rain on average in the last few days, with more rain to come this week. I'm so glad I don't have any other outdoor events this week - just a cooking class on Friday INSIDE. Our lake that was over 18 feet down earlier this spring is now back in the black, so that's at least one piece of good news!

Best bet would be to just pick her up and plop her right in the box. When Bob's cat's merged with mine, this seemed to work best...

Lindsay - sent you a pm and a link to a youtube clip.

Theresa - I've always just put my kitties in their litter boxes and scratched their feet around a bit. I would do this often until they 'went', and then after that it's just some inborn kitty thing that they know that is their 'potty'. Good luck.

I'm heading to bed now too. Talk to you all tomorrow.

Debbie this picture could be used for a calender, how cute! You should submit it to someone(not sure who!).

Did you check out the imdb stuff? If so, what do you think?

I can relate! Garrett is really going through a growing spell right now. I bought him some new shoes last week & he is now wearing a size 11, one size smaller than Gary's

My little boy is not so little anymore. :sad1:

Thank you, Tammi and Glynis, for the PM's. That was my guess as to the content, but it's good to know that was it indeed. We need a POTC4! :thumbsup2

I'm going to sign off for tonight - good night, all! :cloud9:

Glad to hear Colby got around ok today, but it still sounds painful!

have a great night everyone

Good night, friends!

We have 2 and a half days of school left!!! It's hard to believe. I'll be around for a while tomorrow, but I've got to get lots done to be ready to leave on SATURDAY!!!! That's right, people!! I'll be in DL by the weekend!!!

Robyn - I never got back on the DIS yesterday and didn't see your invite to come up to MD to visit! I regret that I don't drive I-95 on ANY holiday!! I would have enjoyed seeing you and your family. Thanks for the offer to join you.

We had a very quiet day at home. A little laundry, a little snacking, a little yard work. That's about it!
