I hope everyone has a great Mother's day, I always seem to get in a "funk" on Mother's day since my mom passed away. I'll do my best not to let my family know as they are trying to make the day special for me, but I am in tears as I type this, I miss her so very much.

Mothers Day is definitely a tough time for many people! I hope your day goes well! :grouphug:

Good morning!

Bernadette welcome back!

Elizabeth happy to hear you found a new kitten!

Marci sounds like your boys did good in their games :thumbsup2

Heidi hope you are in a better mood today :wizard:

Debbie Mother's Day is hard for me as well

Anne Marie I have always stayed in the 50's building at Pop. It is close to the food court & buses. It also has the bowling pin pool, which is usually not crowded. But beings I am not going with the boys, I am happy to try another building. I agree with Chanon though, ground floor would be nice!

Garrett's team lost 3-4 & Riley's team lost 1-16 :rolleyes1 I missed Riley's game & naturally he was pitching! Next game when they both play, I will go to Riley's & miss Garrett's, I hate not being able to watch both.

I need to get ready for work & then I will meet Gary & the boys at mil's for a cookout.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :wizard: & to those I missed!

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."
Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted.
This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes.
And all the mothers who DON'T.
This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.
This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors.
And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars, so that when their kids asked, " Did you see me, Mom?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.
This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.
This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand) mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.
This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.
For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again. "Just one more time."
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home -- or even away at college. This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach aches assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.
This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.
This is for all the step-mothers who raised another woman's child or children, and gave their time, attention, and love... sometimes totally unappreciated!
For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14-year-olds dye their hair green.
For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting.
For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child
who just came home from school, safely.
This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war.
What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips?
The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time?
Or is it in her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?
The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?
The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?
Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?
The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation... And mature mothers learning to let go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.
Single mothers and married mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without.
This is for you all. For all of us. Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can.
Tell them every day that we love them. And pray.

Good Evening DDA!

What a busy weekend for me! I am on vacation right?!:rotfl:

I did get a lot accomplished today though.

Leighanna had her Easter Egg hunt today! The church called it a Mother's Day Egg hunt!:thumbsup2
Here are a few pictures! She is with her best friend Dorian. Dorian is 6 but Leighanna is just as tall!

Do you like her shirt?;)

I need to get mulch tomorrow to finish up the front yard landscaping and it will be done!

I still need to work on the back yard. The new play set is calling for some plants or bushes or something!

I will try to get pictures tomorrow and share them with you all then. It has been a lot of hard work, but I think it looks pretty nice so far.

Cute pics!!! I swear, Leighanna looks more grown up with each picture you post!

Happy Mother's Day DDA!!! I hope that you are all having a wonderful day!

Hugs to those who are feeling a little blue.

My day has gotten off to a pretty great start! Alan and the kids made me breakfast. Pancakes, eggs and bacon. It was pretty good!!! Alan took the kids shopping for me last night, and I scored pretty well! I got a new waffle iron (old one died), 2 pangry organizers (I really need them), and an iPod shuffle in lime green!!! It's one of the tiny ones that I can clip to my waistband when I go walking or running!

Last night, Alan took me to dinner and a movie (Spiderman 3). Before we went to the movie, we stopped at the Disney Character Warehouse outlet. Alan went a bit nuts. He bought tons of stuff for the kids, and even bought me a decorative plate. It was done for the 50th anniversary, and has the castle on it, all decorated with the gold and the crowns. It's so beautiful!!!

Guess I'll have to come up with something really cool for Father's day.

Now, we're getting ready to go to church. Alan is supposedly going to get the kids ready, but I doubt that will happen.

After church, we'll grill some steaks for dinner. Katie is making cookies for dessert, and we'll watch Monsters, Inc.

Talk to you later!!!

Glynis - That sounds like a great day!

We are waiting for a call to let us know what time we can pick up the kitty. I wish we knew what the schedule was so we could plan around it. We WERE going to go to dinner, but we don't want the kitten to be here all alone right after we pick her up. DH just came home and threw some leftovers in the microwave for his lunch, so I guess we're not going out for lunch!

I'll be kind of mad if we sit here all day and don't go to dinner only to find out we aren't getting the kitty today after all.

Also, i have some more pictures from graduation to share!

This first one is when my parents gave me my card with my disney park t ickets !

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!

Very happy to report "It's Raining". :hippie:
It has been so bad here lately with all the fires.
My house is covered in ash.
Air has been ugly.

Great day today.
Went to IHOP for breakfast.
Got myself a nice windchime.
Got us a emergency alarm weather radio.
Just chilling @ home the rest of the day.

Have been M.I.A for a few days so I'm way behind.
Huggs, prayers, congrats, get well, and anything else I missed.
:grouphug: :flower3: :cheer2:  :wizard:

Been working in the back yard.
Post pictures later.

DSCF1403.jpg

Here is a before picture of the side yard.

Nothing but sand next to the house.
The rain off the house makes a trench.
Open path between shed & fence.
(kids keep cutting through the yard)
Ugly dry grass.
Hasn't rained much lately.
No skirting on shed.
Shed about 2 feet off the ground.

Just ugly plain & hard to use area.

DSCF1413.jpg

Here's after picture.

Put skirting on shed. (hard to see with the ramp)
Added a ramp on shed. (no more huge step up)
Landscape edge on the sides of shed.
Made a fence to block path between shed & fence.
No more kids cutting through the yard.
Put down landscape fabric.
Pine bark nuggets.
Terra cotta sun, plant hanger, windchime on shed.
Shephards hook with cutter candle.
This area is next to the patio with the swing.
So it's a much nicer view when we sit outside.
Much easier to use the shed.
It was a lot of work.
Love how the finished project looks.
I may add a boardwalk from the ramp to the patio later.
