Prayers and pixie dust needed, Please!

I know the power of the DDA and just wanted to post this quickly before I leave.

The property supervisor of my Mom's complex found her laying on the floor of her apartment. Her gentleman friend had tried to call her for two days and got no answer. He called the supervisor and she found her there.

From the little news that I have so far, she was very disoriented, but conscious. They have rushed her to the hospital via ambulance, so I am on my way!

I will let you know what is going on when I find anything out!

Again, thanks!

Prayers said..let us know when you can

Sending loads of prayers and :wizard:!!! Please keep us posted when you can. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Tom, I hope everything is OK with your mom! Your family will be in my thoughts!

Heidi - Wow! How bizarre! I never let the little ones get their own hand gel, but I have seen Brother try to lick it off after I put it in his hand. I will have to tell him that will make him sick!

Tom, please check in when you have a minute. I hope everything is all right with your mother... prayers are being lifted up, for sure!

Oh no!!! Prayers being said!!

Found this on the CB. Has been verified: http://www.snopes.com/medical/toxins/sanitizer.asp

I know we all use this in our classrooms on a daily basis, and I just wanted to encourage everyone to be sure and monitor the children with it. I honestly never even thought of this being an issue....scary! OK. I don't know where to begin because the last 2 days of my life have been such a blur. Yesterday, My youngest daughter Halley who is 4, was rushed to the emergency room by her father for being severely lethargic and incoherent. He was called to her school by the school secretary for being "very VERY sick." He told me that when he arrived that Halley was barely sitting in the chair. She couldn't hold her own head up and when he looked into her eyes, she couldn't focus them. He immediately called me after he scooped her up and rushed her to the ER. When we got there, they ran blood test after blood test and did x-rays, every test imaginable. Her white blood cell count was normal, nothing was out of the ordinary. The ER doctor told us that he had done everything that he could do so he was sending her to Saint Francis for further test. Right when we were leaving in the ambulance, her teacher had come to the ER and after questioning Halley's classmates, we found out that she had licked hand sanitizer off her hand. Hand sanitizer, of all things. But it makes sense. These days they have all kinds of different scents and when you have a curious child, they are going to put all kinds of things in their mouths. When we arrived at Saint Francis, we told the ER doctor there to check her blood alcohol level, which, yes we did get weird looks from it but they did it. The results were her blood alcohol level was 85% and this was 6 hours after we first took her. There's no telling what it would have been if we would have tested it at the first ER. Since then, her school and a few surrounding schools have taken this out of the classrooms of all the lower grade classes but what's to stop middle and high schoolers too? After doing research off the Internet, we have found out that it only takes 3 squirts of the stuff to be fatal in a toddler. For her blood alcohol level to be so high was to compare someone her size to drinking something 120 proof. So please PLEASE don't disregard this because I don't ever want anyone to go thru what my family and I have gone thru. Today was a little better but not much. Please send this to everyone you know that has children or are having children. It doesn't matter what age. I just want people to know the dangers of this.

Abi can't even be around the hand sanitizer. How very scary.

It really all depends on the water that is used at the cemetery. If it's hard water, like ours, we use Lime-Away, and a steel brush. It helps a lot. You can't scrub too hard, or you can damage the stone. We also take some Soft Scrub to polish up. First of all, we do a generic wash with just soapy water to get rid of bird stuff, then, if it needs more cleaning, you just go from there. It's a lot harder to clean older headstones. Some of the ones we clean are about 100 years old, and you really can't scrub them too hard. The stone is just wearing away too much.

We take real flowers. I like the look of them better, and our cemetery leaves them up for a few days, and then donates them to a hospital nearby.

Good luck! We love Memorial day, as we get to tell family stories, and celebrate our loved ones who have passed.

Glynis, You totally inspire me. What a great tradition and a wonderful thing you're doing for your kids.

Robyn - Good luck restoring order! Would it make you feel better to know that all the stuff I took off my desk several weeks ago is still piled in a box in the middle of my dining room? And all of the laundry we have managed to do in the past week or so is thrown on top of my table in a wrinkly heap? And I am sitting here DISing instead of trying to fix any of it?:rolleyes1 DS helped me tidy the living room, but that's as far as we've gotten. The living room is still dusty, but the clutter is picked up. I do have a load of towels in the wash because the cats spilled water on the bathroom floor and I had to wipe it up. Figured I would wash the towels after that. DH said he is going to box up the old computer and take it to storage today, so that will be one less thing to trip over.

Well it makes me feel a little bit better. I so need to get moving and just tackle it but just looking at the mess makes me want to run and hide. Tomorrow is another day.

Thanks for the heads up, Heidi!

so we didn't get a whole lot done today except buying a grill and looking at other kitties. We put in an application for this cutie:
http://picasaweb.google.com/everycreaturecounts/CatsForAdoption/photo#5035910190244453458

She was so sweet and playful...the only other kitty in the running was a kitten and that girl will have no problem getting adopted a 6 year old just might.

Well Eric would say that the grill is the most important thing you could buy. He bought our grill the day we moved in. He couldn't wait any longer.

The kitty is soo beautiful.

With that I am off for the night. I am totally exhausted. Trying to relax in the 90 degree humid weather has worn me out. I am putting Molly to bed and then putting a movie in and will probably fall asleep with in the first 20 minutes. See you tomorrow!

So this bit of getting drenched on Sunday evenings better stop soon. Last Sunday I got soaked leaving Dorney, today I got drenched finishing cleaning up at the graduation party I worked at. Let's just say I would love to move into the basement of the house or the backyard at that house. It looked like a resort like you would see in Florida or the Caribbean. It reminded me of the Polynesian at WDW. It had a multi level waterfall stream into a fish pond. A hot tub that has three waterfalls into an awesome pool, a huge pool house with full bathroom and patio with an outdoor kitchen.

Tomorrow I officially have off, unless I go into work for a few hours. I am only scheduled 32 hours this week, but can work up to 40 hours. Either way I get paid 8 hours holiday in addition to what I work. Plus the 8 hours I worked today catering.

I have never heard of cleaning tombstones before. I have placed flags on the grave sites of soldiers who fought in wars for the VFW. My brother used to work doing maintenance/groundskeeping at a cemetery and he never heard of doing so either. You learn something NEW everyday on the DIS.:thumbsup2

Happy Memorial Day Everyone.

Theresa - That cat is gorgeous! Good luck getting approved!:wizard: (And you thought buying a house was challenging - that is nothing compared to adopting a cat!;) )

Robyn - Well, the mess will still be there whenever you get around to it. At least that's how my messes are! I have managed to do a fair amount of laundry today. DH took the papers out for recycling and took the old computer to storage so we are making baby steps of progress. DH also did the dishes that were stacked up in the kitchen, so things are better than they were!

Janet - Did you get your eBay pins yet? I just bought a set of 5 "surprise" pins, but with the $5 payPal credit they only cost $3 so I won't be too upset if they are fake.

Tom-Sending prayers, :wizard: and :grouphug: to you and your family. Keep us posted.

And I'll just say this: I'm a Capt. Jack fan, no doubt about it, but after this movie, I just have to say that Will Turner turns out to give him a run for his money on the hottie factor!!!

I have not seen POTC3 yet. I am trying to hold off to my cruise, we'll see if I make it. Then again I held off last year till September to see POTC2 and ended up having the entire theater to myself except for my friend.

I am definitely a Will Turner fan more so then Capt Jack, always have been, even before Orlando Bloom was Will Turner. I do think he is hotter then Johnny Depp. Then again I love both of them in POTC movies because I love bad rough and tumble boys, the badder the better.;) Perhaps it is my inner naughtiness. After all I tend to shock people when the realize I am not nearly as innocent as they may try to believe.:rolleyes1

I can use prayers and good thoughts for my Grandpa. Remember how at Christmas we had him go to the ER because of arthritis and Gout. Well he was supposed to go to an arthritis specialist he had an appointment but because his pain and problems had went away he never went.

Well he ended up back at the ER on Thursday or Friday for the same reason. Sorry my days are running together. He is in tons of pain and can hardly walk again. They of course sent him home with meds and now has an appointment with the arthritis specialist for August. I am hoping they will be able to get an earlier appointment or that the meds he has now work, so his pain goes away. He is staying at my Aunt's with my Grandma as she can't care for him with him having a hard time walking. This stresses her out and she has several health problems of her own aggravated by stress.

Becky - Good thoughts for your Grandpa!:wizard: Has his primary physician called the specialist to request an earlier appointment? That usually works wonders.

Elizabeth and Theresa,

I had two visitors today that made me think of you. I was in the kitchen fixing lunch when I heard something crying at the door, I opened it up and there was a small kitten, we were outside holding that one when we heard another one crying around the corner. I think they belong to my neighbors who have been away since Friday and I'm not sure when they will be back.

Here they are playing in the backyard,

And they decided my hamper looked like a good place for a nap ( my laundry room is outside so I keep a hamper on the back patio)

I fed them and gave them something to drink, I hate to think that they might get hit in the street, but I can't take the chance of bringing them in as I have an 11 year old cat now, and these kittens might not be completely healthy, they are difinitely flea infested.
