Welcome home, Glynis! I cannot wait to hear about your impressions of the World!

CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN ON FINISHING THE HALF! :woohoo: :woohoo:

One of the questions that Kate asked me was, "do you feel like a fish out of water?" My answer was, "YES!" I can do DL with my eyes closed and one arm tied behind my back. I know where everything is, and can get you there the shortest route. I know all the tips and tricks, and can really maximize my time there.

MK was a different story! Everything is in a different place, and it's HUGE! I know, laugh at the new girl! Anyway, we had a really good time, but I kept getting frustrated with Alan and his brother and sister. None of them are Disney fans like me, and they were SO SLOW!!! We were supposed to have a full day at MK, but by the time the 3 of them got up and going it was already 9:00. We were supposed to be at WWOS to pick up our marathon packets, and then off to MK. I knew we'd get the MK after opening, but there was nothing that I could do about that. We got our marathon packets in good time, but then I couldn't drag the other 3 out of the Expo! They wanted to try out all the goodies, and spend all their time there. Finally I dragged Alan off to one side, reminded him that this trip was for MY 40th birthday, and I was not having a good time! He convinced his siblings to leave and we were off to MK. Unfortunately, Alan's brother decided he was hungry and had to have something to eat NOW! I tried to convince him that he could find food at the MK, but he refused to wait any longer. So, we pulled into the nearest McDonald's and had lunch.

Finally, we were off to MK. I had tried for several weeks to get everyone together to form a game plan, but they all just wanted to wander and not commit to anything. Arrrgh!!!!! So, I got out my bossy hat and just took over. I told them that I absolutely had to see POTC, HM, Philharmagic, and anything else we had time for. They all insisted that we'd have time for everything. I kept reminding them that we had to leave for WL by 4:15, but they ignored me. I bullied them into Pirates, and it was ok. I do have to say that I feel that the ride is better in DL. I just kept waiting for a drop and there never was much of one. Oh well, at least I got to see Capt. Jack!

Next we hightailed it to BTMRR. The line was long, so I snagged some fast passes and we went on. Carrie and Scott had never heard of fast passes, and were amazed that I knew about them. Duh! Don't they know I'm a Disney fiend???? On to HM. Good ride! It's pretty much the same as DL, but I liked the new overhaul at DL. It kind of gives a better story line to the ride.

Back to Big Thunder and a wonderful ride! I always like this ride. I think this one might be a bit better in Florida. It seemed like there were more twists and slopes! Very nice.

We then journeyed to FL and on to Mickey's Philharmagic! Excellent movie!!! I love 3D movies and this one is spectacular! I wish that they would get rid of Honey I Shrunk the Audience in DL and put this in it's place.

We wanted to try to hit SM, but I wasn't too sure if we could timewise. The wait time was over an hour, so I nix'ed it, and suggested CoP. It was a nice break, and kind of fun to watch. I was able to talk to Lynn at this point, and was disappointed to find out she wouldn't be at dinner. Oh well. Maybe another time.

After CoP, I insisted that we leave for WL. It was like trying to herd alligators! They were so slow!!!!! By the time we got to the car it was already 4:45 and I knew we would be late. Thankfully, Scott let me out at valet parking, and I was able to get inside while he and Alan parked the car. Finally, I got to meet Kate and Ellen! It was just like a big family reunion! I felt like I had known them forever!! It was so fun to meet their families, as well! I can't begin to tell you how enjoyable those 3 hours were! We talked and laughed and told stories non-stop!

We finally realized that if we were going to get up at 3:00 to make it to the marathon start, we needed to leave.

Next time, I will definitely just take charge of planning the whole day, and take no prisoners. At DL, you can fly by the seat of your pants, but you really need a game plan for WDW.

More to come later!

The last time I did mine was ON my birthday, which was the date it expired. It turned out that the office I went to was PACKED because the next nearest office was closed that day, so 2 offices worth of people were all crammed in there. I was there forever! And I had my youngest charge with me, which was NOT FUN!:scared: DH ended up having to go get DS from camp that day, it was the biggest mess I have ever seen. Next time I will go the week before so I have wiggle room if it is crowded!

We only have to renew ours in person every 6 or 8 years. We can do it by mail now. That has worked out really well for us.

Welcome Home Glynis!

We missed you around here! Can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Congratulations on finishing. We knew you could do it all the time!

You are truly an inspiration to us all!

You guys are my inspiration! Truly, I don't think I would have finished if I didn't know all of you were behind me! Thanks!

Hi Glynis. I can't wait to hear all about your trip. Isn't Steve just wonderful? We all really enjoyed having him around when we were in DC. :goodvibes

Congratulations too!!!

He is AMAZING!! And so is Ellen's husband, John! Not to mention their 2 boys, and Kate's 2 kids. It was such a great meeting!

:grouphug: I'll be praying for you Jennifer and your family!!

I was beginning to wonder how long you were going to make us wait! :rotfl2:

If it helps, I felt some of the same feelings at DL, although I bet taking a WDW person to DL might be easier than vice versa, as we are used to commando-touring if you want to get anything done!

Glynis. Did you get a medal? Kate had posted that they ran out of medals. I sure hope that you did. We are so proud of you. What did your kids think? I can't wait to hear more about your trip.

Deb

Yup! I got my medal! It was great! I'll tell more about the actual half marathon in a while. Promise!

Glynis - I'm anxious to hear your thoughts on WDW. As someone who has never been to DL, tell me how it compares, what you like better at DL, what you like better at WDW, etc. etc. It's always fun to hear first impressions from someone's first trip!

I promise! I just posted our day at MK, next up the marathon, and then Epcot!

Thanks, Elin. I ordered some for all 3 of us from nofeargear. The kids' ones came yesterday and I found out mine are backordered! I'm going to call later and see when they expect to get some in. If it won't be before my trip, I'm going to cancel the order.

You can always pick up yours there! They were in every shop we stopped in at MK and Epcot! Not to mention WOD!

I've still got 7 pages to read thru, but I've run out of time! I need to go make dinner, finish reading my book club book, dress for book club and head out the door! I'll try to get on again tonight, but there's no guarantees!

Prayers and PD for Jennifer & her family, please!

Jennifer just called and asked me to let you all know her uncle passed away unexpectedly.:guilty: She was on her way to pick up Olivia from her mom, then they were going to go break the news to her Grandma.

I told her to let us know if there is anything we can do, but for now just keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Jennifer - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:
Thanks for letting us know, Elizabeth.

Jennifer - I'm so sorry for your loss. Let us know if we can do anything. Sending prayers to you and your family.

I think ours is 7 years. You can do it by mail, but I was due for my vision test, which you have to actually go to the DMV for. I can't believe how lucky I was.

Good evening all

Elizabeth congratulations on getting the milestone!

You can always pick up yours there! They were in every shop we stopped in at MK and Epcot! Not to mention WOD!
They came today! Now we we are looking at the Jibbitz site. I'm going to let the kids each pick out 4 of the Disney Jibbitz. Of course, I will get 4 as well.

I promise! I just posted our day at MK, next up the marathon, and then Epcot!
I'm so sorry you were frustrated. At least you got to see a few of the highlights of the World. Philharmagic is one of my very favorite attractions! Have they travelled with you before? Were you aware that they were such lollygaggers?

I was able to do this, but I had to go in this year & renew my picture.

That's great. We can renew our license via mail without changing the photo. I think I have to go in the next time in 2009.

Karen - We were in line for them last time, but then we decided to walk ALLLL the way over to Norway instead! It would have been shorter to go around on the Future World side, but of course we went the other direction, around by France. Needless to say we were VERY hungry by the time we got to Norway!

Maybe we'll try the fish & chips around lunch, but just share an order in case we don't like them!;)

just to warn ya they just give 2 small strips of fish

:woohoo: :woohoo:

So I couldn't stand it anymore. I booked 2 trips today. 4 nights at Pop starting 4/29. Just myself for now. Hope that my friend will join me but I am going. AND 10 nights at POR starting 8/20. Of course we know they aren't "real" until we purchase airfare. I got AAA on both reservations.

Jennifer sending prayers to you & your family :grouphug:

Vicki--

I will be praying for Mel...I hope he'll late you take him to the funeral

He does not want to go. He really doesn't enjoy going to Milwaukee anymore and has never liked funerals. They didn't even expect Chuck to come to his grandfathers funeral after he passed away. I still have trouble with that one. I can't imagine not going. I asked Chuck to make sure Mel knew that I was happy to drive him. Chuck says that he knows that but just doesn't want to go. I figure we'll call him in a day or two and just make sure.
