Just home from the ENT with the kids. Nobody has Strep but me, so that's good news. Their ears look great from surgery (tubes), and they all passed the hearing test. BUT, Rees' nose is bad again with horrendous nose bleeds, tissue, swelling. So he is having surgery on Tues, Feb 28. Go in for a post-op visit and, once again, it's a Pre-Op appt for him. Poor kid never catches a break.

Off to ballet and then to the special ed school program to drop off more paperwork. Try to be back on later.

Yuck! Glad to hear that the kids didn't get strep and that their ears are healing and staying in check! Rees will continue to be in our prayers for his upcoming surgery. :goodvibes:

I made Julia a behavior reward chart today and thought I would share it with you guys!

She and I sat down and talked about what should go on it - we then decided it would be a princess chart and so we picked out the princesses she wanted and thought about what lesson we could learn from her:

here is what we decided on each one:

Sleeping Beauty- Go to bed nice so I can get my beauty sleep
Jasmine - Brush my teeth so I have a beautiful smile like Jasmine
Ariel - Take a bath b/c playing in water is fun
Snow white - Help clean up my books and toys like snow white helped the dwarfs
Belle - Eat dinner nice and use the good manners Belle taught Beast
Pocahontas - Be nice to Nick like she is to her animals and friends
Meg - Meg had to learn to be nice and not so sassy - Listen to Mommy and Daddy
Mulan - Be good at school so she can learn like Mulan did when she was training
Cinderella - Get dressed so she can look like Cinderella going to the ball
Minnie Mouse - Get my hair done so she can wear a pretty bow
Daisy Duck - Use my nice words b/c having a temper like Donald gets him in trouble!!

here is the chart I made:

there is a design for Princess in Training with her princesses:
Princesstrainingchart.jpg

then each princess has a little star:
I reduced these to half a sheet to print them
princessrewards1.jpg

princessrewards123.jpg

then each princess has a big star:
princessrewardstars.jpg

princessrewards12.jpg

then I printed the stars in B/W as well to put on the poster - as she earns her stars she can put them on the B/W star - if she earns 8 stars a day - she gets a big star - and she can earn a bonus star for being an absolute angel at bedtime (this is our biggest struggle with her) and then when she earns ten Big stars - she gets to go to the Disney store to get a treat

Once I have the whole poster put together - if anyone wants to see I will post a picture

Behavior reward charts are such a fantastic idea..... that has worked wonders with Darby!

Your theme is spectacular! I'd love to see the finished product! :goodvibes

Kate - You are just incredible! I don't know how you come up with these things. I would love to see the finished product. And a boy one would be great too. I bought 2 Mickey Mouse reward charts through a school fundraiser but haven't yet set up anything. I was thinking of using the checkmark theme....if you complete the job/behavior you get a check and if you are bad in that area a check gets erased. Then at the end of the week if you have x amount of check you get an allowance. I want to try to start teaching the money concept and saving, etc. If I can find a pic of the charts online I will post them. You have given me some great ideas.

I'd like to see! We don't have kids and aren't planning on any either - but I'm a big fan of Supernanny and this is what she has - reward charts - They always work so well.

And yours is such a design feat (although we wouldn't expect any less!!)

You know if you avoided the Disney images it's almost something you could print up and sell on ebay - one version for girls and another for boys. If you laminate the "stickers" they could be used over and over.

How are the bag ideas coming on BTW?

Stopping by to say "Hello" and introduce myself. I just stumbled on to this forum the other day and I am having the BEST time looking at all the great designs!!

I am an avid crafter from around the NYC area. I have a 4yo DS and an almost 1 yo DD. We are taking her to WDW to celebrate her first birthday in a couple of months.

I have usually made shirts for our past trips, but they are nothing like the designs that you guys have been coming up with.

Great work!!!
Welcome!! :welcome: :welcome:

Cold Stone would definitely help me! I LOVE that place, but the nearest one is in the city and we haven't been close to it for awhile. I miss having it 2 blocks away like when we were in CA. Have they come out with the new Cake Batter yet? That was my favorite and I having been hoping it will be out again by the next time I make it there.

Feel better! I totally understand the feeling.

They just opened one of these out here in the boonies! Love the cake batter! :cloud9:

I really think Disney should hire me and have the Kate Line!! ;)

I have my bags designed and have the patterns and material - now I just have to incorporate my custom features into the patterns and sew them - I hope to get something done by this weekend!!

Kate,

I'm just speechless. :worship: :worship: :rainbow: :rainbow:

I think that I'm losing my mind. I've been sitting here for the last hour trying to figure out how I could get to WDW this weekend (yes, I know that it is Wed night) for under $500. I've figured out that it would be doable, but only if priceline would cooperate. I even have my argument worked up to pitch to DH (recent unexpected money from my grandma). Plus, I'm hoping to play off of the part earlier today where he was feeling sorry for me on another issue, plus the fact that he has been extremely overwhelmed lately and would love some time alone (I'm terrible I know  ). Now I just have to get him to wake up and be in the mood to hear my pitch.

Now, I KNOW that he will never agree, but that little part of me that is dying for a break with the Mouse is a little anxious.

Hmmm...maybe if he seems that I am desparate enough it will buy me a dinner or movie by myself. A distant second, but I'd take it right now. Unfortunately, his anxiety level is so high right now (I wish I knew why) that even that probably won't happen. Oh well, I'm off to make some brownies to try and help. (My second place indulgence to Cold Stone. :) )

I just can’t keep this in… Kate, You ARE the BIGGEST ADDICT I have seen on the board!! If I’m not reading something you’ve posted, I looking at something you’ve designed. So I have a few questions….. do you EVER sleep? When do you have time to clean your house? Do you cook? What do you NOT do? You are the Martha Stewart of Disney!

WAIT….. I think Kate just got another Disney Design Fix! Oh yes, I think I hear her head thinking of a new design.

I bow my head and lift my Mickey Ears to Kate THE ADDICT!

Kate, I dream of being like you. You are one talented lady!!

Cooking and cleaning are definately the things that I am not so talented at!!

I do my best just to keep the house straightened and then do big cleaning all at once when the kids are asleep

as for dinner - I usually make things quick - or DH has a newfound passion for cooking and I am not one to discourage that!!

But in reality - since I have been so prolific in my designing - once I have the concept - I probably only spend about 10 minutes doing the actual layout - it is such second nature to me - the hardest part is trying to decide what to do -

for hte chart today - Julia and I planned it out together - so the actually designing of all that only took me about 1/2 hour

Would y'all please stop by the thread I just posted on the board entitled DDA Think Tank Needed. I need some ideas from you creative types. Thanks so much. It's for a good cause, I promise. :goodvibes

Edited:

Kate knew just what to do, as usual. Thanks so much! :grouphug:

Kate -- awesome chart! I used a similar idea when my kids were younger, but it wasn't as creative as yours.

Denise -- glad to hear that no one else has strep. I'm so sorry that Rees has to have another surgery. Please make time for rest so that you don't get worse.

Thanks Kate for bringing this to my attention. I will be glad to do this and it will be something I can do with DS5 to show him how to spread the pixie dust to another child.
