Hello, DDA!!! :wave2:

I hope everyone had a good weekend - I hadn't been on since Thursday, and EEK - you guys were busy for a few days! Between work today, though, I finally got caught up, and thought I would post a quick response. Once I'm done, I'll have to head home, but then I'll get on later tonight - don't want this thread to get away from me again! :rotfl:

:wizard: :grouphug: to all those that have been sick! Wow, there was a lot of that going around. I hope all are better now.

Marti and Skunka - glad to hear you had a great trip! Your pictures were so cute - you guys looked so happy in them!

triplefigs - your post about Rees brought tears to my eyes. I am praying for strength and resolution for you and your family - they deserve the best!

To all those that have taken the designing plunge - WOW! I hope that PhotoImpact begins cooperating, and that the creative juices keep flowing!

Kate - so sorry to see the action you have had to take to protect your designs. It's sad that people would do this. I hope you'll continue to share designs with us from time to time, just so we can see what you've been up to!

:grouphug: and :thumbsup2 to those that do GS troops, CS, cheerleading, etc. I know it has to be frustrating to watch things you've worked so hard on either go by the wayside, or to not get the support you need. DON'T GIVE UP THOUGH!! I can't imagine how much worse things will get if we don't have people continuing to push the envelope and do great things for others, especially children!

Elin - I'm sorry to hear about your mom, and will continue to pray for your family. On a lighter note, I was reading my Passporter just last week, and saw your tip. I thought, I wonder if that's the same Elin, as your name is so unique! I didn't have time to come on and post, and then how funny that you later brought it up. Congrats - and what a great tip!

Bengalbelle - CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I'm not a mommy, but I'm wishing you lots of  and hopefully better health as the pregnancy continues!!

I think that's it (or at least all I could remember from the 60+ pages I read through over the last few hours!) If I forgot anyone, sorry, and hi! :wave2:

I'll post more about our whirlwind of a trip later tonight. We rode EE five times!!!!

If you want a preview of the other part of my trip, you can check out my siggie... :rolleyes1

WELCOME HOME...

Well Abi is begging to go back to school tommorow but hasn't eaten a whole lot. Got ahold of Panda Express and if we go through a whole lot of rigamoral(lots of hoops :goodvibes ) to prove that we have food poisoning then they may do something....but more than likely not. I think I will just stay away from Panda Express thanks.

Welcome Home Tinkaroo and Tammi!! Sounds like your weekends were fun in different parts of the world!!

Well, we had a nice weekend visiting with my parents. Saturday my mom and I took the kids roller-skating. It is such a blast from the past for me to go there. Nicholas does really well, but Alyssa is all over the floor and won't let go of anyone's hands. She just wants to go fast, but can't even stand up on her own.

Yesterday we all went to see Narnia. Both of my kids, and all us adults, really enjoyed it. There were a few moments when I said to myself "I don't think my kids should be seeing this", but I don't think that they realize what the "violence" is. We as adults know, but to them it is just a movie.

Tammi, sounds like you had a great time with your parents! That's so cool. You are so cool to take your kids roller skating! I would be so afraid that I'd be spending more time on my behind than upright. My kids laugh at me enough now, I can't imagine what they'd do if I stuck wheels to my feet! :rotfl2:

I'm glad you saw Narnia. We loved that movie. I think that as long as we emphasize that the violence is pretend then it's all good! I can't wait for the movie to come out on DVD. DD is re-reading all the books, and we have a tradition that when she finishes a book, we watch the movie (if there is one), and I come up with a special dinner (themed) and treats. For example, for Wizard of Oz, we ate "haystacks" for dinner, had ruby slipper punch, and Emerald City cookies. For Narnia, I just ordered a couple of boxes of Turkish Delight from one of the websites someone here posted. I still have to come up with a dinner, but I'm thinking fish like the Beaver's serve the children.

Anyway, enough of a tangent. Glad you are home safe and sound!

Thanks for posting the restaurant. I've tried Panda Express once, but didn't really care for the food. The sauces seem too sweet. Now I have another reason to stay away (and another reason to try new Chinese places :teeth: )

What a cool tradition! Do you homeschool or is that just something that you do on your own?

I love that idea!! When the girls want to see a movie we all have to read the book..or have it read....also. I do this so that we can have conversations on the differences between the two...which is better (it's usually the book). It has already helped Cassidy in school as she had a film studies class last semester and went in to the teacher (a favorite of hers) and said "my mom makes me think after movies already!!" So it was an easy class for her...and she has the critical thinking needed to go into HS.

I think when Narnia comes out on DVD I will have that theme night...though Turkish delight is not my favorite treat!! We have a place down the road that does proper fish n' chips so there's dinner!! What a wonderfully creative way to have family night!!

Thanks for sharing!!

Denise -- love the spring break one -- it's really cool!

I don't homeschool; I need a break from my kids. I was a literature teacher, though and had to come up with ways to make reading a bit less of a chore. With my DD, she has the ability to read WAY above her age level (8 yrs. old), but really just wanted to continue reading Junie B. Jones (not that there's anything wrong with that). I wanted to push her a little, so dug out my old copy of Wizard of Oz. I promised her a special surprise when she finished the book. I'd drop hints each day, and she would buckle down and put in at least 20 minutes of reading. She was so excited when she finished it, and then found out that there was a movie made of it! Ever since then, she's been unstoppable. She's gone through Harry Potter books 1, 2, 3, and is working on 4 right now. She is also re-reading the Chronicles of Narnia. I can't wait to get her started on Mary Poppins.

Now, I've got to find something to get my DS excited about it! He kind of just relies on Katie to read to him. Got to nip that in the bud. Any ideas on getting boys interested in reading?

I'm happy to share my ideas. I never know if they're any good, but we try a lot of different things. I love to hear what other people do, as well. So, let's bounce ideas off each other. I love the idea of fish 'n chips. I was just going to bake some fish, but maybe I'll give a try at making some fish 'n chips. That sounds way yummy!

I'm not too fond of Turkish Delight myself, but it will be fun to see the kids reactions to it, especially since they thought it looked so good in the movie.
