A few quick prayer requests please. Brantley-Kate has been sick since Sat pm with a 103 fever. Today she got a rash, and we figured out she has Fifths Disease. She still has the fever tonight, so she's missing school again tomorrow.

Just got off the phone with my MIL. My DH's grandmother is in the ICU with kidney failure. She has Alzheimer's and lives on an Alzheimer's unit. Well a nasty stomach bug went around the unit, and she got really dehydrated and it shut down her only working kidney (she has a history of kidney disease). They are doing surgery tomorrow, and my MIL is not sure if this is the end or not.

Finally, here in GA they have denied 65% of children enrolled in the medically necessary Medicaid for disabled children. Rees is being denied, and we will have to go to court to fight it. DH and I have no idea how we will make it without this extra insurance (we have incredible primary insurance but Rees' medical bills go into the 100's of thousands each year and the medicaid picks up what our primary doesn't). I may be doing a segment on our family in the Atlanta paper or TV. I will let you know.

So please keep us in your prayers. This week is really tough.
Denise,
Sorry to hear about your insurance problems.
I totally understand kids health needs & insurance issues.
Ramiro was born with a birth defect.
Insurance said it was selected surgery, denied.
His Ped. was very upset :furious: & sent us to a specialist.
Specialist made it very clear to insurance, surgery was a must.
He had his surgery done when he was 71/2 months.
If it wasn't for his Ped. & the Specialist he won't have had the surgery.
So it might help if you Ped. backs you up.
Good luck my prayers are with you & yours. :grouphug:

Prayers are being offered for you all!

My two oldest kids came down with Fifth's Disease while I was 8 months pregnant with the twins (just a couple of weeks before delivery). I had to be tested, and luckily (probably because I taught in a public school system) I was immune to the disease. Once the fever goes away, she should be just fine! My kids looked terrible (Katie looked like someone had slapped her hard on her face and chest, and Jacob looked like he'd been punched in the face), but they didn't feel bad in the least.

I'm so sorry about DH's grandmother. I just hope that she is with caring doctor's that can ease her mind somewhat! It's so scary!

What a mess with the insurance! That just makes me so mad! I hope that you can get it all worked out with the court system. Please let us know how it goes. It shouldn't be this hard to get help for your child.

We love you, Denise! If you need anything else, please let us know!

I just found your dates for $201 on american and $210 on USair

also - you will proably be able to get a good deal on SW or Airtran - I think you can definately get a good fare on the dates you want!!!

I would pick your dates that you want to go - airfare will fall into place

Air Tran and SW only fly out of Chicago's other airport which is way too far from our house to make the price difference worth it.

But thanks Queenie for checking! :goodvibes

Wow! Makes my problems seem silly

:grouphug: We'll be thinking of you!

Denise here's a good sized helping of pixie dust :wizard: :wizard: pixiedust: pixiedust: and a few :grouphug: :grouphug: too.

Let me know if I can write letters or send emails on your behalf. I'm sure some others here would join me.

Thanks for all the well wishes. It seems that the antibiotics are kicking in and I am beginning to feel better. At least the sore throat is easing up.

Hunter had a consultation with an ankle specialist today. He is a candidate for surgery that would help relieve the symptoms of his flat feet. After the consultation we have decided to wait, but keep it as an option. If his symptoms worsen as he gets older then at least we know that there is hope. Right now the orthodics at $300 a pop are keeping things pretty much in check.

I hope that everyone that isn't feeling up to par gets well soon.

I just got off the phone with our local advocacy group. They've asked us to be on a PBS show called Legislators. Of course, I said yes. Keep thinking positive thoughts that we are chosen so I can showcase Rees and his issues.

Sorry to hear that Brantley Kate is sick and hope she recovers soon.
Hope DH Grandmother's surgery goes well - PD :wizard:
Sorry to hear about the Medicaid being denied, it always amazes me that we fly kids from all over the world here to give them surgeries and medical that they need (not that I begrudge them) but we don't take better care of our own kids!!!
Extra PD for you this week :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

I wanted to stop in quickly and say thanks to those who helped me find the 7th birthday designs.

Of course, DD said they were too girly and I had to work on my first design.

So thanks to Kate, I was able to take her basic design and add 3 words. Of course, without all of her really cool fonts, it's not as good as it could be, but for a first try, it'll do.

Here is the front of my DD(almost7)'s birthday shirt:

She also wanted Midnite's birthday badge on the back - so here is the back:

She is thrilled, and I guess that is all that matters.

Yes we are watching, I missed the beginning as I had to go pick up DD from gymnastics, but that was funny and his wife didn't look too thrilled when he came out.
About to watch Commander in chief too
Have your kids all recovered??

Nick threw up last night - but he seems to be doing better now!!! Julia is all better!

I like the girl who Simon said that he would have said no but Paula and Randy had already said yes - so she said to him - it doesn't matter cause I am going anyway!!

I think she earned simon's respect there!!!

Denise,

Prayers and Pixie Dust for you and your family. :wizard: pixiedust:

I hope BK feels better soon!

I'm so sorry your DH's Grandma is going through this, and I hope that she can at least be peaceful and free from pain.

And most of all I can't imagine the stress that you must feel to have to deal with these financial issues, when all you should have to deal with is loving and caring for your family, which we all know you do so well!

:grouphug: to you!

the reason you have not found good airfare yet is b/c you have not reached the 300 day booking window yet - I can not even book your dates on travelocity - the airlines will not put out the discount fares right away - they want to suck people who are anxious to fly in before they drop the fares!!

airfare from Atlanta to Orlando through March is only 123 a person - you should definately hold out - I am betting you can get airfare for 150 or less per person!!

I second that! I immediately went to airtran's site, but they aren't booking that far out. We never pay more than $160 for our flights anymore! They ALWAYS have $79/one way web specials, and that almost always includes direct flights. I would imagine this is especially true from Atlanta, as that's a major hub for them. :goodvibes
