The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 2

Wow, I was gone most of the day, and came back to a plethora of pages! I'll try to respond the best I can.

Seems like pixie dust and prayers are the order of the day, so I'm sending them out to anyone who needs them. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Mac - I'm so sorry you have to deal with taxes. Ick. DH always puts them off to the last minute, too, and it's a pain to deal with (When aren't taxes a pain to deal with?)

Marti - Have a wonderful trip! I hope you and Paul enjoy some well-deserved "adult" time. DH and I are getting ours in DL in June. Can't wait! Travel safely, and come back with a detailed (at least the Disney parts) trip report!

Tink2020 - My tiny school virtually emptied during sheep shearing season. Literally, the entire population of the town raised sheep, and everyone was expected to help with the shearing. After student teaching, I thought all that was behind me, then I was hired as a full-time teacher. Things went fine, until the lambing season began, and then, once again, students were disappearing on me. I never knew there was so much involvement in raising sheep.

Well, it's dinner time here and I've got to make the pork chops, and cook the potatoes. I'll try to get on later tonight.

That is the funniest thing I have read in a long time! :rotfl:

Kate will be so "flattered!" :teeth:

Amy :)

Oh Amy - I'm so glad you saw this! I wanted to say something (of course) but I'm so glad that you beat me to it!!!

How's the little baby bump doing?

Use to be a lutheran, joined to take communion with wife. Pulled her away and into a church that wasn't dead though. They weren't very supportive when we lost our son and couldn't give us any answers on his salvation.

The joy of having a stillborn child that couldn't get baptized. We know where he is and that Mya has her own personal Big Brother Angel.

We now go to a Non-Denominational and love it.

Hugs to you.

I have always wanted to do an adults only trip...it would be such a different trip. I would love to leisurely stroll through all the countries of Epcot...and my dining choices would be much different as well. Someday... :teeth:

Can you imagine? I'm actually going to STROLL!!!!! What a concept! We may even head to JellyRolls for adult drinks and entertainment - I'm giddy with excitement!!

I heard from the doctor this a.m. My mother is in the ICU and on oxygen and has responded to some stimuli overnight. She cannot be intubated due to her COPD. they have called in a pulmonary specialist to see if there is further deterioration there and also her cardiologist is running an ECG today to determine the state of her congestive heart failure. Her physician told us not to come running from Allentown, Boston and Virginia... but it is so hard to wait and not know.

Their prognosis is not good. If she revives from this "bout" they will send her back to the nursing home with a move to hospice in the future. And they are telling us that we may only have her with us for 6 months or so.

Please keep praying and thinking of us... Your thoughts mean more than I can say.

You are in my prayers. Please keep us updated.

I could use some prayers and pixie dust for my sister-in-law today as well. She found out in August (when she was pregnant with baby #5) that she had a brain tumor. She had a beautiful baby boy in December, and today is the day for the brain surgery. I am 6-7 hours away from them. I have three busy kids here, and I know that I couldn't really do anything there, but it is hard to feel so far away and helpless.

Beth

Prayers for you SIL too. Boy, the DDA needs a break!

Ok.... off to the dentist (big surprise, huh?) for this stupid extraction. I don't know what my deal is, but I'd rather have a root canal. I had teeth pulled for braces and the sounds you hear, and the things you feel (while not really PAIN, but still) just send chills up and down my spine. And then it seems that no matter HOW closely I follow the rules (no straws, etc) I get dry socket. And that just plain stinks. :guilty:

Sorry to have been such a complainer lately!!!! Ugh.... I'm just getting sort of worn out, I suppose. :confused3

Thanks for all your support! Hopefully you all will be around this weekend if I'm stuck at home and need somewhere to spend my time!

Have a fabulous day, and enjoy the beautiful weather if it's nice there, too! :goodvibes

Oh, I hope it went ok today, Jen. Sending you get well vibes! (and a hug)

On my front... my Mom has been a little more responsive this morning and they are looking at tests being done this afternoon or tomorrow morning. I have to hand it to her doctor. She was with my Mom until 3:00 a.m. and back at her side at 7:30 this a.m. I am very comforted by the fact that she is getting good care and that we will have more answers soon.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words and pixie dust. They mean so much.

Elin, I'm glad she's doing better today. Sending more prayers your way.

I just received word that SIL is out of surgery, but still unconscious and in recovery. The tumor was mostly on the surface, and they were able to remove it without any problems with speech (we knew that it was sitting on a speech center and SIL had to be partially alert during surgery so that they could make sure speech was still ok). The doctor warned that this type of tumor could reapper in 10-15 years but was very upbeat about how everything went today!!!

Thank you all for your kind words and concern.

Beth

AWESOME NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How wonderful for your SIL and your family. I know you all are so relieved.

Ok, so I'm home. Thanks for all of your posts.... I survived at least, and those awful noises, etc are done!

It was a rough procedure though. It took just under 2 hours, which is MUCH longer than in the past. She said they had to really expand the bone and tissue more about 3 times the norm, so I'm going to be sore (duh) and the healing may take a little longer as its a bigger site..... but they did all sorts of preventative stuff for dry socket, so hopefully it works :wizard:

More than anything, I'm STARVING! Like an idiot, I didn't feel like eating before the appointment so I just didn't.... forgetting that I would be chomping on gauze to put pressure on the site for hours. Blech. So I'm here, counting down the minutes (if only I knew how many!) until my mashed potatoes :rotfl:

Anyone else here?

I'm glad it went ok. Milkshakes are yummy too!

Okay moms I need your help what is the best way to get your kids to take meds. We just got home from the Dr and DD has a sinus infection. So now I get to fight with her to take meds tired to give her tylenol last pm for the fever and she cried so hard she puked all of it up all over both of us. This is the first time I have to give her Antibotics. the Dr. suggested making smoothies. :confused3 What would you do. How would you go about making smootihes.

I draw the liquid up in a syringe, lay them down, hold their mouth open, and shoot it in. Like giving meds to a dog/cat. not pretty, but it works. Now they just take it without trouble.

Well I'm caught up (and I logged off before 10 last night!!) What am I going to do without a computer next week???

We finally told Matt where we are going. We had previously told him that we were going away for Mommy and Daddy time. Well today he finally guessed where we were going. He instructed us that we are not allowed to go on the Carousel or to see Indiana Jones without him. Like that's what we plan to spend our alone time doing!!! Gotta love kids.

Oh yeah - and he'll allow us to go as long as we bring him back a long list of things that he wants. I told him to pick one!

Smart boy!

I will put both your family and hers in my prayers. I can't even imagine how scary it must be to have a new baby and this hanging over her. Hopefully, she'll have a good recovery and get home to enjoy that special baby. :wizard:
