Wow Tinkaroo! Welcome Home! and thanks for sharing your trip. Sounds like a lot of fun. :cloud9: Marti, you too!, I understand your desire to be back at Disney. I hate the WDW withdrawl pains! Hate it! Gotta plan another trip!!

I've been really busy in real life for the pass few days and just haven't been able to reply to all the posts requesting pixie dust. I'm so sorry, but here it is a lot later than I wanted... :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: {{Denise}} {{Midnite}} {{Elin's Mom}}

Thanks so much Kate for the wonderful designs you did for tinker1bell and I. I just can't put into words how much fun we had running around DisneyWorld in matching tshirts using your designs, Midnite's designs and Momof2OH. You need to do whatever it is to make yourself better. :cloud9: :cloud9: I sure hope you still find it fun hanging around with us....

I am going to learn how to use this darn PhotoImpact myself doggone it! :cheer2: :surfweb: :surfweb: I'm listening to the dumb tutorials. I'm going to post a design. Really I am... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I'm going to get in touch with my inner designer. :lmao:

To the person who asked about Pal Mickey.... I love mine. He works really well in the AK. He told us about no wait for Buzz at the MK and was right on. The newer one talked much more than mine did (I have an original) I think the newest one talks even more. The only down side is his little butt gets a tad heavy after about the 5th day for us old grandmas... :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: and we left them in the room. (My DGD had loaned hers to tinker1bell. Hers was a newer model than mine but still not the 50th anniverary one...)

Well, I've gotta get to bed. Soooooo much I'm dealing with irl.

Just to give you an idea of how my day ended, one person told me they had just received a call that her brother-in-law had committed suicide, followed by a call from my younger sister telling me that Dad gave her his urn for Christmas. No typo. His urn. Oy.

I'm turning off my phone and pullling the covers over my head and dream of my trip to Disney. There's no place like home. There's no place like home. I can't wait until the CM says "Welcome Home" There's no place like home.... princess: :lovestruc

Tammi, sounds like you had a great time with your parents! That's so cool. You are so cool to take your kids roller skating! I would be so afraid that I'd be spending more time on my behind than upright. My kids laugh at me enough now, I can't imagine what they'd do if I stuck wheels to my feet! :rotfl2:

I'm glad you saw Narnia. We loved that movie. I think that as long as we emphasize that the violence is pretend then it's all good! I can't wait for the movie to come out on DVD. DD is re-reading all the books, and we have a tradition that when she finishes a book, we watch the movie (if there is one), and I come up with a special dinner (themed) and treats. For example, for Wizard of Oz, we ate "haystacks" for dinner, had ruby slipper punch, and Emerald City cookies. For Narnia, I just ordered a couple of boxes of Turkish Delight from one of the websites someone here posted. I still have to come up with a dinner, but I'm thinking fish like the Beaver's serve the children.

Anyway, enough of a tangent. Glad you are home safe and sound!

Glynis - I just wanted to say that you are one AMAZING mom to your kids. That sounds like great fun

I'm happy to share my ideas. I never know if they're any good, but we try a lot of different things. I love to hear what other people do, as well. So, let's bounce ideas off each other. I love the idea of fish 'n chips. I was just going to bake some fish, but maybe I'll give a try at making some fish 'n chips. That sounds way yummy!

Oo if you're gonna make fish and chips you gotta do it the English way.

You'll need cod or haddock in batter...
FAT chips - just cut the potatoes up chunky (you should really deep fry them but oven cooking is fine)
Then salt and vinegar and some tomato ketchup or tartar sauce

Oh and to be real authentic you should wrap each serving in newspaper and eat them out of that yum...

I bought most of the set for Katie, but she never really got into them. I'll have to let Jacob take a peek at them. Hopefully he'll like them. He loves to be read to, but finds that reading by himself is hard. I want him to like reading, so I try to read with him. Not to him; he has his book, and I have mine.

What about some ENid Blyton? The famous five or secret seven - or are they too old? Or the Hardy Boys? Or Harry Potter of course.

I was racking my brain and this pretty close......it's like less flavorful gummy bears with less elasticity dipped in a confectioner's sugar...hows that for a description? :rotfl2:

From the description I read on the website I would say that it is a pretty soft consistency. Softer than a jelly bean or a gummi bear, "thicker" than jelly. Kind of like the apple candy sold here in Virginia.

Glynis--I don't remember how old your son is or his reading level. My son loved the "Great Brain" series of books by JD Fitzgerald when he was younger. One thing that really worked for him was to get him started on a series. Then he'd fly right through the books. I think that I read the first Great Brain book to him or at least started reading aloud. He also liked the Magic Tree House books (easier reading than the Great Brain), Harry Potter, almost everything by Road Dahl...I'll try to keep thinking. Even now at 14, he is a strong reader and will read something very quickly if he gets into it, but it takes a little push to get him started.

Loved your trip report. I have mentioned to my husband about an adult only trip......like Skunka gave Marti :thumbsup2 . He didn't think I could leave the boys behind and told him to plan it and I would be there.

Anyway.....I was going to comment on your TX shirt and your DH jacket and hat in your siggie. My DS 12yrs asked for a TX fitted hat and we gave him one for his birthday. Although I am a diehard GA fan he tells me he is going to try TX first. He said he wants to play football for the Longhorns. Now keep in mind he has been a TX fan for about 2 years. He reminds me he was a TX fan before they won the Rosebowl. I told him if he wanted to go to TX he better be getting a full scholarship because out of state tuition would be out of my price range. Then again airfare for me flying to TX atleast once a month will be costly also.... :rotfl2: .

I am just glad at the age of 12 he is already talking about which college he wants to go to. Of course his love for football has something to do to with that.

Thanks again for the mini-trip report.....glad ya'll had fun.

I am so sorry about your decision to stop designing. You have a great talent that we have all enjoyed. Please, please continue to hang out with all of us here on the boards. I personally love all your stories about Julia and Nick. You have completed some amazing designs for me. The ones for the Incredibles on Ice and The Wiggles made the trip even more special.

I have one design already saved that Denise has done for me for our family trip in Dec 06. Not to be selfish but I really, really hope that you will be back to designing and personalizing designs after a much needed break. You really do help make Disney trips special for others.

Thanks for everything you have done!!!!

Lynn

Tinkaroo -- congrats on DVC!

Glynis -- my DS10 has learning differences, so he's not reading very difficult books, but he loves reading the Amelia Bedelia books. They are short, so he feels like he is accomplishing something, and they are funny. Plus, there are a lot of them in the series so he loves to see what she is going to do next. I actually enjoy them, too.

I know many of you are getting anxious, so I'm finally posting the "results" of our collection for Kate's and Nancy's grandmother's memorial. :sunny:

We collected an unbelieveable $483 dollars to donate to the St. Joseph Orphanage in Cincinnati, OH. :goodvibes

Thank you so much to everyone who responded to my PMs, whether you donated or not. Though most of us are strangers, we are one special internet family, and I know Kate, Nancy, and their family appreciate the DDA's overwhelming generosity and thoughtfulness. :wizard:

I hope everyone has a great day!

MidNite, The first design that you made for the four of us was the Celebr8 one with our favorite characters on the front but then each of us had just our favorite one on the back which was designed by Momof2Oh.
We also used your Welcome Foolish Mortals,(some guy wanted to pay $100 for the shirts but we told him no deal) the Port Orleans FQ, Pop Century, Animal Kingdom, MGM Studios and Magic kingdom. I also used Tink on top of the beautiful blue bottle design to put on the hankies and kerchiefs for special Cast Members.

[snip...]

I love hearing stories about the T-shirts!!!! I was very glad to be able to do them for you.

So he offered you $100??? Did you give him my number? :rotfl:

Words really can not begin to express what I am feeling right now. You are all most amazing people I have never met. :) As you all know,
I have been in such a funk and this has lifted my spirit more than you all could ever know.

I am simply overwhelmed by you all and your generosity and love.

I feel so horrible that I told you all that I would not keep designing yesterday. The best way for me to express my feelings is that I really miss our quiet little happy community that lived in its quiet little corner. Has anyone ever seen the movie Brigadoon?!?! :teeth: I know that with greater exposure - things will obviously be a little more bumpy at times.

I will of course be here to chat - because after all we are a family!! and I could never stay away from you guys.

I do need a designing break - but with that said - I really do still love to design for you guys - the people who truly appreciate it and are my friends. So if you need one of my designs I would be more than happy to pm them to you

If you click on my name in my signature you will be linked to my design gallery - but the images are not full size - I will have to pm you the full size designs. This gives me better control over my images and then I know who is using them!!!!!

Again - I can not thank you all enough - I really needed that - it is nice to know there are so many wonderful people that I know I can always count on!!

I love you all!!!
