One of my former employers had a kitchen wizard. His name was Scott. He would go to the grocery, bring all the stuff back to the house, whip up 5-7 dinner entrees, label them, put them away, and clean up the kitchen. Magical! :wizard:
I want Scott for Christmas, please....

Yeah, I don't want to BE the kitchen fairy, either! Besides, it would take more than a sprinkle of pixie dust for me to be competent in that arena.

Scott was a very nice guy, and a great cook, but not buff or particularly handsome. Priorities, girls, priorities! ;)
at my age and with my schedule those ARE the priorities!

Marci - :grouphug: I have always said it doesn't get eaiser when you lose a parent; it just gets different. All the things you are going through are very normal and your emotions will continue to evolve. When you need to come here for support you know we are here.

Congrats to everyone on huge milestones last night!

Good Morning DDA,

Marci - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Seems I missed the Kitchen Fairy conversation, the link that Vicki posted is actually the one's I was referring to. But I would love a Kitchen Wizard, and if he could bring along a Merry Maid that would be great.

Welcome home Heidi, glad you had a good trip, sorry about the airport delay, that doesn't sound like fun at all.

Congratualations to Jen and Karen on completing school.

I found a recipe for making cookies from cake mix and have been trying different combinations to decide on what I will be making to pass out to the different family units this Christmas. The winners are Devils food with chocolate chips, spice cake with raisins, yellow cake rolled in cinnamon sugar (snickerdoodles), and lemon supreme sprinkled with powdered sugar. They are unbelievably quick and easy and they are very good, my co-workers have enjoyed being the taste testers.

Hope all of those who are under the weather are feeling better today, I woke up this morning and my lungs feel like they are full of "gunk", my fellow asthma sufferers probably know what I'm referring to. Hopefully this doesn't mean another round of antibiotics and prednisone.

Have a Great Day everyone,

Debbie

Yes, but I need them for our luncheon on Wednesday and I refuse to pay $10+ for express shipping on a GC. I'm cheap! I mean frugal.

I love making these cookies! This is about the closet I get to making home baked cookies lol

Congrats on all the personal milestones last night.

Deb - You sound like you are miserable. After dealing with this for weeks now and not being able to figure out what is wrong has got to be terribly frustrating. :wizard: that you find some relief, and soon!!

I got a phone call last night from my parents that my uncle died. He has been suffering from prostrate cancer for about 2 years. It was caught late, and over time had spread to his bones, lymph node and lastly his brain. He was my mom's sister's dh. They have one son still in the area, and 2 daughters, one in SC and one in FL. The girls were both home this week to see him. One had just left yesterday morning to go home and he died that night. It was like after seeing his kids he was ready to go. They don't know when the funeral will be, as it depends on when the girls can get back home (might be difficult with Christmas flights), so I don't know if I will make it home or not. Nicholas' last day of school is Wed (half day) so it could feasibly work out. Provided the kennel has room for the dogs. I will feel really guilty if I don't go, but some things just can't be helped.

Good Morning,

Tammi and Marci- Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers and that your relatives are in a better place and no longer suffering. :wizard: :wizard: and :grouphug: :grouphug: to get you through.

Several of the EPCOT restaurants will be closed throughout 2007 for refurb or a special party.

*United Kingdom's Rose & Crown to close for refurbishment from 2/21 - 3/14/07 - The pub will remain open but food will not be served
* Canada's Le Cellier - Closed for refurbishment from 5/14 - 5/18/07

morning everyone-

tammi-sorry to hear about your uncle

congrats on all the personal milestones!!

im headed out for awhile so ill catch up later!

Good morning, DDA! :)

Becky - Congrats on 3000! :cool1:

Elin - Good luck finding a Scott for Christmas! Last I heard he and his family were living in Houston (or Austin, or somewhere) and he wasn't working as a chef anymore. But there must be more like him somewhere!

Tammi - Sorry to hear about your uncle! :guilty:

Debbie - Your cookies sound wonderful! That might be something for me to do with all the cake mixes in our cabinet. I would make cupcakes but I don't have anything to store them in. I almost never make a 13x9 cake for anything. Not sure why I have all the cake mixes. But there are least 4 in there.

Janet - I hope DH gets your curtains up! And I hope he does a better job than the guys who hung my blinds!

Tammi - I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. This is such a hard time for loved ones to die. Not only is the transportation an issue, but the holiday always brings thoughts of them even more poignantly. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I am off to the grocery store for a few things to tide us over till we leave. I am achy and don't feel too well this morning, so I hope it is the remnants of whatever I have had brewing all week. Tammi - just in case you see me at Giant... STAY FAR, FAR AWAY FROM ME! ;)

And, did I mention....

four sleeps and a wake up before we leave! I have NO idea what I am taking and may not know until late Wednesday night. I have a noon concert and my staff luncheon along with 4 recitals tomorrow, 6 recitals on Tuesday and 4 recitals on Wednesay. The best thing about Wednesday is that I am done at 6:30, not the normal 9:00 finishing time for me. So I will have time to come home and do some packing and prod Bob to do some too.
