It could be finals and papers..he comes home on Friday so i guess ill figure it out then...I dont think him and I are doing presents this year-he doesnt have alot of extra money this year,,so im sure thats bothering him too

Wait til she grows out of 6x and is in the 7-14 range. Hopefully things will change before you have to face that! I think I'll continue to shop for Emma in the boy's department.

I know we'll have a very magical trip. I made Joe some CM cards. He's very excited about those!

It gets both better and worse again when they hit the teen years. I say better, because dd can shop in the ladies' section (XS sweaters, shirts, etc.) and the juniors section, and she dresses fairly conservatively (but still "in style"). That choice is available. She does wear a low-rise jean (not much else available), but she wears her shirts long enough that everything is always covered.

I know that there are much worse things out there, though.

Am I crazy? Overprotective?

Remember last year Lizzy had the boy who wanted to "kiss her naked bottom" on the bus? He still likes her and is in her class again. They have a 1/2 day of school tomorrow and Lizzy has been invited to a cookie decorating party at his house. Sounds like a fun time BUT....the kids were asked to bring a $15 Yankee Swap gift. I'm not letting Lizzy go. I made arrangements for her to have a playdate with another friend and I bought a kit for them to make some ornaments. Those Yankee Swaps can get testy with adults. I just see the potential for lots of tears with a bunch of 7 year olds. If I could have been there I may have let her go but I can not.

Wouldn't a gift for charity have been a better idea? Or just stick to the cookies?

I am sorry....but what was that mom thinking of??? Last year we did a Christmas Caroling party and did a white elephant exchange of no more than $10 value. I can just imagine those poor munchkins who don't know the "rules" of a Yankee swap.(That is where you draw #'s and then 1 picks a gift 2 can take 1's gift or choose another....right?)

Deb - For boys' jeans we had good luck with Levi's with the elastic in the back. They have them at Kohl's. Now that those are too short he is wearing Levi's 9 Slim that I bought at Sears and Kohl's. I thinkthey have them at Macy's, too. They are not ripped or spotted or anything.

Those are the ones I buy for Nicholas...the levi's at Kohl's. And if you watch for sales you can get a good price. I really like the way they fit.

What's a Yankee Swap? I think that $15 is a lot for a gift exchange for a party like that. I think that just sticking to the cookies or perhaps sending supplies to make ornaments would have been great.

Why can't kids believe like kids anymore?

becausee they are to be little adults at act like adults(said sarcasticly). thats what i hate about schools these days. they are trying to get preschoolers to learn what i learned in first grade. last fall i visited my moms school and a kinder class. i was amazed that they were being taught what i remember being taught in 1st grade. when i have kids i want them to be kids as long as possible.

Good afternoon!!

Nick has been sick so I haven't had much free time! He was mad I wouldn't let him go to school today. He is better but has slept all afternoon so I think I made the right decision!

How is everyone?

Deb - I have friends that send me a Hanukah (spelling?) card every year - I am not offended by it and I am ALWAYS happy to get good wishes from my friends this time of year - I would be willing to bet that all of the DDA feels that way!

Also -I thought the red carpet choices were horrible - there were only two that I liked! It was funny - everytime yesterday that I saw one that I LOVED - I would look to see and it was from one of you !!

The DDA ladies have very good taste!!!!!

Wow, Tim's choices for Dresses were certainly not what I expected. I thought he would choose more of a variety, but I must say the emerald green one is the only one I would even consider wearing myself. Lots of tight fitting ones that 95% of the female population couldn't pull off I guess that goes to show that a man made the selections.

I know that I'm not stylish, but I thought there were much nicer outfits...many of them posted by the DDA. And that's not just because I "know" all of you!

Our problem with Cassidy and clothes is she has an hourglass figure on a 5'2" inch body with shorter legs.

My poor children don't fit the cookie cutter mold of clothing sizes.

Jen - I hope your boyfriend can work out whatever his issue is! It probably has nothing to do with you, but if he hasn't said what the deal is then you will keep worrying about it.

Elin - I keep forgetting to tell you how cute your new ornament is! Very appropriate!

Kate - Hope Nick feels better soon! Brother is still rather goopy, but I don't think he feels horrible.

Deb - Since I don't practice any religion I am fine with any and all holiday wishes! Poor Brother REALLY wants Santa to bring him toys and Sister says "Santa doesn't come to JEWISH kids!" Dadboss says they will have to make a BIG deal of Hanukkah this year.

That does make it hard! I grew up like that, so I can fully relate. In fact, I'm still 5'2" with short legs, but my hourglass has changed into a much larger hourglass.

And to add to that...whoever sizes clothing definitely doesn't live in the real world!

I am on pins & needles waiting to hear from DH!

My cell phone rang on the way back from picking up Sister, but it was DS's teacher calling me about the holiday party. They have it all taken care of, so that's one less worry!

Obviously that 40 minute gain they had this on bids morning has been wiped out by the guys scraping the bottom of the barrel this afternoon.

Hmm. That's a tough one. I can't recall DS ever trying on jeans that were skinny through the legs. I guess you could take the legs in, but that sounds like a lot of work.

wish it was tomorrow. almost all the way packed. i will probably try and finish tonight after my final. had to call tsa to see if i could bring my battery charger for my chair on board with me (dont want it getting thrown around in the belly. well i called they told me it had to be checked dad called and they told him as long as it would fit in overhead bin itd be fine. ugh and tsa is in charge of our air security
