Tammi - I agree. There was only one of his top picks that I liked, so that made my vote VERY easy! I voted for the emerald green one that Deb commented on yesterday. The other two that I liked that belonged to non-DDA ladies didn't make his cut, either. :confused3

Beth-love your card!

Deb-congrats to Hunter & Chris. Glad to hear the mouse project is complete.

Tammi-Alyssa is so beautiful and she looked like she was the best of her group!

I know...I'm not looking forward to those years. :sad2:

I've been having a hard time dealing with the clothes issue for Lizzy. I still get away with bringing stuff home for her rather than bringing her with me as I do most of my errands at lunch. So she's not asking for stuff I don't want to buy her but I have a real problem with what's available for 7 year old girls. I was complaining to a friend and she said she heard of a recent study where they asked 10 year girls to describe themselves and have concluded that 10 is the new 13. :sad2: Lizzy has already complained to me that she doesn't have a boyfriend. :scared1: Next year she'll be in a school with grades 3 to 5 and then our town has 6 through 12 in one school. I'm sure I'll be asking for lots of advice here as she grows.

okay..i think my little posting party is over! I ended up going down to my friend kims house (kimwim8) for a bit..i had so much fun and it was nice to get out!

Im a bit awake now and working on some homework...i cant believe im doing homework at 130am!

Tomorrow i have the day off to work on some last papers and things ...My student teaching teacher called me tonight and i will be meeting with her Friday at 11--she seemed so nice on the phone, b ut im still nervous.

Im not sure whats going on with my boyfriend, but seems like something is wrong...its really bothering me, especially since hes up at school and i havent seen him in awihle..im hoping its just hes stressed with the end of classes, but i dunno ..

Other than that, hope you guys have a great night!

:grouphug: Does he have finals coming up soon? Maybe he's stressed about what to get you for Christmas-that always pushes my DH over the edge.

Good luck Friday!

Look what I got from a student yesterday!

of course, mine says "Elin" ;)
I thought maybe his name was Joe. :rotfl: My Joe called me as soon as he got home from school yesterday. He was so excited with his wonderful idea. He is star student of the week next week and a parent can go in and read a story to the class. So he wants DH to go in and take a picture of Joe with his teacher and then he wants me to make her a T shirt with that picture. Wouldn't she love that. :lmao: I told him it was a great idea but perhaps we should make her a Christmas ornament with that picture. He's agreed to that.

Marci's mom passed away around 9:15pm last night very peacefully. Visitation for family is tomorrow night and the funeral is Thursday. They are still going to Disney on Friday. I talked to Marci this am, and she sounded very good. I will keep you posted.

Marci and family remain in my prayers. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I am lucky in that my Abi hates the "stylish" clothes for her age group....why oh why would I want my munchkin in a micro mini???

That is just wrong that 10 is the new 13!! They hardly get a chance to be kids anymore. Abi still thinks boys are gross so I have nothing to worry about there!! Phew. She may even give up on them as friends as they haven't been real nice lately....you know boy stuff. What I hate most is the cattiness that is happening earlier and earlier in girls. :guilty:

So where do you shop for her? When I was looking for something for Christmas I couldn't believe what was available. The only non low rise pants I could find where Land's End at Sears. She doesn't have any low rise now and thankfully doesn't need any new pants yet but I couldn't believe that virtually nothing else was available. Every pant at Kohl's, Gap and even Lord & Taylor were low rise.

We had a Holiday Breakfast at work today and one of my non Christian coworkers was asking me if my kids believed in Santa and wouldn't they feel betrayed when they found out it was all a lie. I told her I was quite happy that my 7 year old believed in Santa. I certainly don't remember feeling betrayed when I found out the truth. I also told her I was happy Lizzy still wants to believe that Pooh at Disney is really Pooh. I'm sure she must have some sort of idea that he's not real but she's not ready to give it up and I'm not ready for her to.

I'm all packed except my camera equipment. I printed all my labels and made one set of postcards this morning. They were thankfully much easier than anticipated. I used the Avery postcards and Word. No fighting with using 4x6 index cards or Adobe Photoshop on my Mac and no fighting with a crashing old PC. I just have to print off the rest tonight.

Sunday morning Joe was vomiting but just mucus. He actually sounded really good yesterday but was coughing again this morning. I made an appointment for him for 5:30 tonight with the pediatrician just to be sure he's OK before we fly on Thursday morning. He's only ever had 1 ear infection when he was about 1 1/2 and was VERY alergic to penicillin. I'm sure he's fine but I would feel awful if he was in pain on the plane.

We are staying at the airport tomorrow night. :Pinkbounc I can't believe we are really going.

I absent mindedly sent out Christmas Cards to everyone on the DDA Contact list. Now I'm wondering if everyone does celebrate Christmas? I certainly hope not to have offended anyone. If you do not celebrate Christmas or more importantly, if you do not wish to receive a Christmas card from all of us, please PM me and I will add that to the contact info. I know that not everyone has sent out cards so I'm hoping that this is better late than never

I'm glad that is was peaceful and that Marci seems to be doing well. Hopefully the trip will take her mind off the cituation if only for a short time. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Thanks Bernadette.

I know what you mean about the clothes. A year ago I was buying her cute little toddler outfits. Now I'm shopping across the aisle in what appears to be the "red light district." Why can't they make nice little girl clothes instead of trashy looking clothes?

Have a wonderful time on your trip. I hope the dream team finds you!

Am I crazy? Overprotective?

Remember last year Lizzy had the boy who wanted to "kiss her naked bottom" on the bus? He still likes her and is in her class again. They have a 1/2 day of school tomorrow and Lizzy has been invited to a cookie decorating party at his house. Sounds like a fun time BUT....the kids were asked to bring a $15 Yankee Swap gift. I'm not letting Lizzy go. I made arrangements for her to have a playdate with another friend and I bought a kit for them to make some ornaments. Those Yankee Swaps can get testy with adults. I just see the potential for lots of tears with a bunch of 7 year olds. If I could have been there I may have let her go but I can not.

Wouldn't a gift for charity have been a better idea? Or just stick to the cookies?

Wait til she grows out of 6x and is in the 7-14 range. Hopefully things will change before you have to face that! I think I'll continue to shop for Emma in the boy's department. :teeth:

I know we'll have a very magical trip. I made Joe some CM cards. He's very excited about those!

Thank you to Kelli, Paula and Steffy. I had mail from them all today

On the kids clothing front. I have to say that shopping for boys isn't much easier. Trying to find jeans slim enough for Hunter is absolutely impossible. Jean shopping in general is horrible, everything is either pre stained, painted or full of holes. Whatever happened to buying clothes that look new instead of ones that you would throw out :rotfl: Hunter gets holes in his knees all the time and he refuses to wear them again, I keep trying to tell him that they are now brand spanking new, but he refuses to believe me :confused3 What's a Mom to do?

Deb

Wow, Tim's choices for Dresses were certainly not what I expected. I thought he would choose more of a variety, but I must say the emerald green one is the only one I would even consider wearing myself. Lots of tight fitting ones that 95% of the female population couldn't pull off :rotfl: I guess that goes to show that a man made the selections.

Oooh. Stop with the parenting issues! :rotfl2:

I don't think shopping for boys is as bad as shopping for girls. I know Sister is all about dressing like the Cheetah Girls, which I find repulsive. She is FIVE. DS is just tiny so it is hard to find anything that fits him. And I don't want him to dress like he is in a gang.

DS had problems with a boy last year really bullying him, but the boy bullied like a girl. It wasn't "I'm going to beat you up" it was "You're stupid. I can't believe how stupid you are." It was all psychological bullying, and trying to turn all the other boys against DS. I called the principal and she talked with the boy and put a stop to it. Well, later in the year the boy was telling some story about his brother. DS said "That's stupid." referring to something the boy said his brother had done. Next thing you know the boy claimed he told his brother DS said he was stupid, and the brother was going to come to the school with a GUN to get DS! I called the principal AGAIN. She assured me that the family is very nice and the older son would never do anything like that, whatever. What really ticked me off was the principal never called the bully's parents! Momboss offered to contact them acting as our attorney, but I decided not to go that far. The principal pulled the kid out of class and talked to him, and of course he spun it around that he just had to defend his brother from DS calling him stupid. So much for zero tolerance. You would think for a threat involving a WEAPON they would have at least called the kid's parents.

Bernadette - There will be no kissing of naked bottoms! YIKES! And I think you are absolutely right - Yankee swap is a recipe for disaster with little kids. You must be SO excited about your trip! I hope Joe is healthy! I have decided the secret is to not tell the kids about the trip, then they don't get sick right before! :rotfl:

Deb - For boys' jeans we had good luck with Levi's with the elastic in the back. They have them at Kohl's. Now that those are too short he is wearing Levi's 9 Slim that I bought at Sears and Kohl's. I thinkthey have them at Macy's, too. They are not ripped or spotted or anything. ;)

JcPenneys and Dillards are where I usually find stuff. The part of clothes shopping that I hate is because Abi is not stick thin we have to get her the 1/2 sizes at Penneys and other places are just so dang hard hard other places to find clothes that fit well.

My 10 year old still believes in Santa and the only reason she "knows" the characters are actually people in the costume is we couldn't come within a block of one when she was littler without her freaking out. Even knowing the truth she still freaks a bit. Why can't kids believe like kids anymore?

What's a Yankee Swap? I think that $15 is a lot for a gift exchange for a party like that. I think that just sticking to the cookies or perhaps sending supplies to make ornaments would have been great.
