The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 18

So it has been another stressful day here today. I'm having issues with our caller id. The telephone company came in and said that all is ok, must be the phone. I now realize that the caller id works only for calling waiting calls, but not for the first calls :furious: So I bring the phone to radio shack at their request as they wanted to look at it. It turns out that they don't even have caller ID at the store so they couldn't check it anyway. I bought what I thought was a replacement plan when they replaced our last phone for battery issues. Turns out that it is some plan that would require me to surrender the phone now and they would mail me a gift card in 5 - 7 days for the current price of the phone. Well the phone is on clearance and the only one left is the floor model. It will cost me at least another $30 to replace it. I was not happy with the representative the I spoke with on the warranty line and asked to speak to a supervisor only to be put on hold for 5 minutes and told by the same rep that the supervisor told her to tell me that what she had already told me was true. And I'm supposed to believe this why :confused3 The only saving grace was that the salesperson at the local radio shack has gone above and beyond and called me when I got home to say that he has found a way around it. Apparently my original warranty hasn't been used :confused3 So he will use that and replace the phone for me tomorrow. So that was several hours wasted today. I did manage to get to the stores while Colby was at school and I found most everything on the boys' lists for Christmas. I think I'll be able to find most everything else locally. It does look like Colby will only get the Goofy/Donald figurines for the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, but hopefully we'll be able to find the other sets after Christmas and Donald is his favorite anyway. So now I'm trying to unwind and get to bed.

Passing along an email I received

Remember It Could Be Worse

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see the bed nicely
made up and everything neat and tidy.
Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the pillow. It was addressed,"Dad" With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands:
Dear Dad,
It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with you and Mom. I've been finding real passion with Joan and she is so nice. I knew you would not approve of her because of all her piercing, tattoos, her tight motorcycle clothes and because she is so much older than I am. But it's not only the passion, Dad, she's pregnant.

Joan says that we are going to be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood, enough for the whole winter. We share a dream of having many more children.

Joan has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it and trading it with the other people in the commune for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want.

In the meantime,we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Joan
can get better;she sure deserves it!

Don't worry Dad, I'm 15 years old now and I know how to take care of
myself.

Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your
grandchildren.

Love Your son, Chad

P.S. Dad,none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house.
I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the
report card that's in my desk drawer.
I love you!
Call when it is safe for me to come home.

For those of you with kids, never forget, when your kids do something to drive you crazy, take a deep breath and remember it could be worse.

Have a great night everyone. To those of you on your way to WDW have a safe trip.

How timely that this one makes it's rounds at about finals time!! :teeth:

Cassidy was thrilled yesterday...she actually got an E from her math teacher!! He's the one that grades funny...so funny there really isn't an ABC equivalent and he's unwilling to change....He's a woodpecker!!

That sounds blechy!!

Abi's bowling shoe Christmas present came today...we are going to get a bigger size but even with the outrageous s/h charges these shoes are cheaper than on the sporting goods stores websites and they are cute!!

I am not gone yet! I was just catching up on my blackberry. Off to bed now! I will only get 6 hours sleep and I won't get home until midnight tomorrow. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Jennifer - want to make sure I don't miss you - HAVE AN AWESOME TRIP!!!!!

I can't wait to hear how Olivia likes it! :thumbsup2

Hi :wave2: to everyone else. I am trying to catch up - glad to hear that so far, everyone had good Thanksgivings.

Karen - According to the AllEars newsletter I got today they are already doing it. The lady said they did the sunset safari followed by dinner at Jiko. She said her DH is in a wheelchair and it was no problem for him to get on the safari vehicle. Sunset won't work for us, but somebody on TPAS said their Dreams Unlimited agent told them they can do sunrise, too!
Congrats on school! :thumbsup2

Be still my heart - I've been secretly planning in my head a trip in either late January/early February (you see, we have all these airline credits...), and this would FOR SURE win DH over. We just love AKL - the only WDW resort we've stayed at twice so far (until we go home again to SSR this year).

Now that I am caught up - everyone else is gone. Oh well, it's nice to be in touch again!

I can't remember all that I read - but I did read every word! Here's some :grouphug: :wizard: and :Pinkbounc for anyone that might need it!

My Thanksgiving was good, but hectic. We spent over 20 hours of it driving around the state! My Longhorns lost, which was very upsetting to watch in person, but I'm comforting myself with memories from last year, so I'll get through. Got to meet my newest niece, and she's a sweetie - also looks like she will be an easy baby for her parents, which they could use, as their other kids are 4 and 2!

I'm beginning to get a little anxious about Christmas, as my house isn't decorated yet and I have nary a gift wrapped. I do have a good majority of my shopping completed, but really wanted to have plenty of time to enjoy the season, as well as get ready for our trip! Plus, there's a chance we might have family coming to visit next weekend, so there would go that free time.

But we did get our Christmas tree tonight (we still get a real one each year), which helped me breathe a bit easier. The weather in Dallas should be turning pretty nasty beginning tomorrow evening, so we picked it out, but have placed it in a bucket of water on our covered back porch until we can put it up this weekend. I was very excited, as it was tagged as a 9-10' tree at Lowe's, but we measured it, and it was a few inches shy of 9', so they gave it to us at the 8-9' price (a $30+ savings) without any hassle!

(BTW - if anyone else does real trees, I cannot say enough good things about trees from Lowe's. We've had one every year for the past 6, and they are always fresh, of good quality, and considerably cheaper than any private tree lots!)

I just spent a couple of hours browsing Disneyshopping.com. I used the free shipping code for orders over $100 and the Disney25 code for 25% off. I got some fun things like a Mickey Laptop bag and a goofy trailer hitch cover. I also picked up some christmas ornaments for the cousins kids. The kids exchange small gifts on Christmas eve so those are cute and best of all I don't have to worry about what to buy anymore :thumbsup2 Since it is almost 1:30 AM I'd better get to bed as Colby will be up bright and early which means I will be too. I just wish that I were tired. Oh well, have a nice night. Good morning Clare.

Deb

Good morning, DDA!

Good morning, DDA! :)

Hi, Elin!

Well, I am WIDE awake again and I can't really DO anything. :bitelip: I can't call for the sunrise safari because Disney isn't open yet. I can't pack anything becasue DS is still home. (And DH is still in bed, which is where I put the suitcase to pack it.) So. Here I am. :rolleyes1

Deb - Glad you got all your phone issues worked out. I hate stuff like that!

Becky - That was cute! DS got his progress report yesterday and it was GREAT. We are very proud of him! :)

Lindsay - We're going Feb. 1-4, and I am hoping to get a sunrise safari for the morning of the 4th. We'll see how many phone calls and how many CM's it takes to accomplish that! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving! Good luck getting your decorating finished! The weather is definitely going to get interesting, so it is good that you already got your tree. :thumbsup2

Hi Elizabeth

:wizard: for getting the safari!

Gotta get ready for work. Talk to y'all later!

The person on the TPAS thread has now posted that their travel agent says SOMETIMES guests from regular rooms can book the safari IF there is space available. Hmm. That's not sounding so promising. But I am still going to call.

Tammi - Have a great day!

Just a quick pop in, I need to get Emma up and in the shower. I haven't had a chance to catch up yet. Our cable went out yesterday morning, our cable wire was snipped and it took all day to get it fixed. Ugh!!!!

Just wanted to wish Jennifer, Jeff and Olivia a very magical trip!!

Will try to check in a little later. I do have my first OB appointment this afternoon so I will post an update later this afternoon.

Good morning DDA!!!

Morning everyone.
I didnt get much sleep last night-tossed and turned all night--still not feeling too good this morning, but i have my "2 ology and a art" class..Luckily, im home by 4 and only have about an hours worth of homework to do tonight..

Have a great day!

Robyn - Have a good day! Good luck at the OB office! My OB/GYN likes to have emergencies while I am in her waiting room and I get to stay there for HOURS. Luckily I only go there once a year! :rotfl:

Jen - Hope you feel better! Maybe you can get a short nap this afternoon.
