Wow you were really close to me! The boys loved everything about this place. They kept very busy all weekend :goodvibes Besides the waterpark their favorite was the go karts. We will definetly be staying here again. I'm sure the outside pools will be closing before long, but the inside is just as cool. It is a nice get away for the weekend & only takes about an hour for us to get there.
Maybe next time we go back for a visit we could meet up. Glad your family had a good time. I miss the midwest as I grew up there. I miss the 4 seasons, only 2 hear rain and summer. And I feel out of place as I seem old fashioned with my way of thinking out here. Maybe someday we'll move back.

Is anyone here familiar with the "Flat Stanley" Project??

In a nut shell: (this is our letter)

Hi there!!
As part of our integrated Reading, Writing, Language, Social Studies, and Mathematics programs we have read a funny book called Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. The book is about a young boy named Stanley who is accidentally squished "as flat as a pancake" when a bulletin board falls on him. Stanley is very, very flat but otherwise fine. The story goes on to tell how Stanley discovers some real advantages to being flat. He can slide under doors, go down into sidewalk grates, and even fold himself up small enough to fit into an envelope and be mailed to California for an exciting vacation.
We are sending FLAT STANLEY to visit cities all over America and the WORLD. I have selected you to be FLAT STANLEY's "host family" and hope that you will send him back to me after a short visit. We would also appreciate it if you could snap a few pictures of Stanley’s visit so we can put them in our journal.
Thank you for letting my FLAT STANLEY come to visit you!

I am looking for volunteers!! Anyone willing to take on a Stanley??

I read that book when I was at school - very cute - but we never re-enacted it! I can be one of his trips around the WORLD if you like :teeth:

Of course you could just tell the teacher that we've already done this project with Pal Mickey and we have a whole thread full of pictures and stories for her journal :rolleyes1

IMMEDIATE PRAYERS NEEDED PLEASE!!!

Dawn just called me. Caroline is in the NICU, because she choked on her spit-up this afternoon to the point she couldn't breathe and had a seizure. Luckily, she and Dawn had just been to the doctor, so they rushed back and he stopped the seizure. She's had a spinal and she's about to undergo an EEG. So far everything has come back positive, so they're praying the seizure was a result of her lack of air. Hopefully Caroline just has an extreme case of reflux, but they won't know for a few hours yet.

I will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything else!

Sending buckets of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: their way - Amy thanks for the update :grouphug:

Here is a photo of our new deck/porch. This photo was taken yesterday before I had a chance to do any clean up. Obviously we still need to change the board below the threshold (I'm thinking diamond plate aluminum in honor of Chris's occupation/hobbies). I am also planning to do some landscaping. It only took us 6 years to put in permanent steps :rotfl:

My niece sent a Flat Stanley to me last year. I posted the info on the Family board and BAM!!! The guy went all over the place.
I did however clone him (so he wouldn't get lost like one person said he did), I sent out about four or five of him and they went all over the world.
My SIL told me at the end of the year that my niece has the most postcards, letters and replies from her FS and she figured it was because of me.
I guess what I am saying is maybe if you clone a few of him, he will make it a few more places.
I have no idea why I didn't remember this a few minutes ago. I think I need a Monster drink.
That sounds like a great idea :thumbsup2

How easy is he to make? Is it easier for us to each make one than for Kristine to make a load and post them out?

But that would mean actually knowing how to do such a thing! I tell you, I am a computer idiot. Alan is trying to teach me, but I'm kind of a dunce about these things. I'll see if I can figure it out, though!
Glynis - go to www.blogger.com and set up a blog. It's a very user friendly site to use, you just pick a name for your blog and a template and then you can post each recipe using the post new message function - which is just like the message box here on the DIS (but without the smilys unfortunately).

Then you just add a link to the blog in your signature.

If you go to my Autographs link in my sig you will see the blog I set up for that - and Jen used one for her house pictures :thumbsup2

All caught up...

Now I need to decide what to do with my day... be constructive and tidy the junk that's appeared in my study ready for lessons starting at the end of September...

or stay in my pjs and enjoy my day off watching tv and DISing...

Oh and reading the two new Disney books that arrived from Amazon bright and early this morning.

Oh what's a girl to do :teeth:

I had a CRAZY night....

Went to bed....

All dark & cozy.....

Start hearing a weird noise....

What could it be??

Sounds like something moving around...

Like scurrying...

I must have a mouse in the house.....H E L P!!

Bill, there's a mouse in the house!!

What the heck are you talking about...says tired husband in the now brightly lit room...

You are crazy...go to bed...

Lights off....all warm and cozy....

Noise again...like scampering around....

Sounds like...MANY MICE!!!!

Wide awake....

1:30 am

2:45 am

Finally doze off...

Until, the "noise" comes back

3:00 am

4:00 am

Finally fall asleep...

Awake suddenly...am totally convinced I felt a mouse running on my head!!

No more sleep...

Alarm rings at 7am

I get out of bed................I hear it again!! I get on the floor to look for mice...

What do I see you ask??????????????????????????

My brand new computer chair, has a tag hanging from it...and in the path of the air conditioning keeps hitting my desk...making this noise....like MICE I tell you!!!! :rotfl2:

Bob took a bunch of pictures of me tonight. No pix of smaller pants, and I think the hair looks the same in every single one of these! But I promised to share so here you go. One shot:

Tonight i went to go see Alex ( the one from the accident)
he looks great! was sitting in a chair on the computer when we got there...he seemed to be in good spirits tonight--he was asking a lot of questions about the accident, so that was hard, but he wanted to know....hes improving so much every day!

That is great news!! I am so happy that he is improving so much and so quickly. What a relief for you all.

Good Morning DDA.......I was sooooo hoping to find an update on Dawn and Caroline this morning. Hopefully she will check in on Amy soon and we will all know something.
