Ok, I actually did some shirts for the twins yesterday. I found some darling stencils at Michael's and thought I could use them with the spray paint technique that I did for Katie's party, without having to mess with flour and water, and peeling it all off. Here's the results. Tell me what you think.

The Pooh bear is easier to see, but Leslie wanted both blue and pink for her Tinkerbell shirt. As long as she is happy, right? I'm going to be looking for more of these stencils!!!!!

Those are awesome!!!

Chanon,

Do you know anything about NYC? I'm looking for a TA for an upcoming trip.
I've never been there.
For packages and hotel ideas/locations/price comparison, we tend to use Yankee Holidays. They have a site, but it's not the best, but gives you ideas on what can be included.
For more detailed information on the city, I'd suggest checking out their VB site..maybe www.visitnyc.com?
The other one I use is booktravelbound.com, they won't let the public price things out, but their "guides" selection is great.

We're wanting to go next Thanksgiving (2007) for a week and go to the Macy's Day Parade. I'm presuming that a hotel on the parade route would be the best (Times Square). We've never been, so this is completely new to us. Want a good hotel, info on how to view the parade, tours (NYC would be decorated for Christmas), etc. I'd appreciate any help you could give us.

There are some companies that offer packages for this. I'll have to do some checking for this year to see who is offering them. I'll keep you on my list!

Who else was a Gummi Bear? I was thinking I was the odd one out. Did I miss other Gummi Bears?

Beth

I'm a gummi bear too!

I had no idea that Zazzle let's you upload your own designs. Has anyone done this yet? Do you think they'll allow the ones made here?? I'm off to go play on the site!

The Marriott marquee is right in Times Square & I think you could see the parade from there. I have been there for events/dinners but never stayed there. If you were there on NYE you could see the ball drop, so it's right on times square facing broadway. As far as seeing the parade you just have to line up in the morning. The best spot is in front of Macy's because that is where the show performences are (Broadway songs & singing), you would have to stake out a spot hours before though. A nice thing to do is you can go the night before when they are filling up the balloons to watch them come to life. Also you might want to see the Christmas show at radio city music hall. We did it last year & the kids loved it...it was cool to see the rockettes.
Don't forget the World of Disney store on 55th & 5th. Also Brantley-Kate would love to lunch at American Girl Doll(49th & 5th) Book that at least 6 months in advance (also they have a show) we have done both shows & they are great. We even have a new build a bear on 5th ave as well. There is also a Tussaud wax museum which has all the famous celebrities in wax... NYC has become so much more child friendly in recent years.

Let me ask Dana when he gets in on the quality of hotels in Times Sq as he has stayed in almost all for business.

If you go to the website www.plaidonline.com and search for brass stencils a whole bunch will come up. If I can't find them at the various Michael's around here, I'm going to order some. It was so much easier than making a paste. The paint dries really quickly, too. That's a plus when the kids want to wear the shirts right away.

Oh, I also found some of the same paint that is glitter. I bought the iridescent kind, but they also have gold and silver. Yu ccan't really see it on the Tink shirt, but I sprayed it with the glitter and in the sun it really sparkles like pixie dust!

It turned out so well, that Katie wants me to do one of Tink on the back pocket of her jeans for school. I bought some lime green paint and will try it. So many ideas, so little time!!!!

If you can do it, you should take the kids to see the Lion King. It's an amazing show and I know that you all would just love it! Alan and I went a couple of years ago, and were sad that we hadn't brought the kids with us!

Boy, Anne Marie! You are making me want to go back to NYC right NOW! I think it would be so fun to go during the holidays! I'm just not sure Alan would be up to that. He is so NOT into crowds!

Do I smell a DDA Meet in Dec 2007 here in NYC??? Wow, one that I could actually go to????!!!

You know what is funny? (speaking of avoiding crowds) is that we spend almost every day of the kids holiday break doing something in the city & we apply the same principle to NYC as we would to WDW. Get up & out early in the morning. Get alot done by lunch..have a reservation somewhere for lunch, go back to hotel for mid day & then go back again for nightly entertainment. (since we live here we don't go back to a hotel, but we plan everything for early am or later pm) We went to AGP at 9 am (during Christmas break) & there wasn't anyone in the place...by 11am it was mobbed but we had finished shopping...checked our bags & went to our bitty baby show during the height of the midday madness (we were in a comfy seat watching the show) after that we had a 2pm lunch reserved. Done by 3pm & we didn't wait on any lines...
