Good morning, all! It looks like you had a great time in DC! I was at a 3-day swim meet (outside) Friday-Sunday beginning every day at 7 am and ending after 8 pm each evening. It was long, hot, and tiring, but we had a good time. Our club hosted the meet, so there was no sitting idle time. I timed events from 9 am-12:00pm and 2:00 pm-7:00 pm and also stickered and sorted awards.

Friday and Sunday were blistering, and I look a bit like a lobster. Saturday alternated between pouring rain and blistering. I'll take the blistering any day over the rain! Well, working a swim meet anyway.

Paula--my prayers are with your SIL and her family.
Amy and Kevin--I love the photos of your family.

My boys are standing over my shoulder ready to use the computer. I'll have to finish catching up later.

Here is a photo of dd swimming the fly.

What great form Beth!

It's supposed to be 100 here today and tomorrow. I think I'm staying inside for the next few days! :sunny: (this sun should be frowning and melting)

Oh man, 10 pages. I got spoiled this weekend with everyone gone. I guess it could have been the old standard 20 pages overnight. Welcome back everyone! I can't wait to read about all of your experiences.

They are in counseling- individually and as a couple. I hope they can save their marriage. He is giving it all he can. She just is having a really hard time dealing with her dad's suicide and the aftermath. Thanks for asking.

I am glad that they are both getting counseling. I hope that it helps them save their marriage. They are continually in my prayers. :grouphug:

So, while you guys were having fun in DC, here's what I did last night:

Bet you didn't know I was a rock star! :rotfl: :lmao: ;)

One of my firm's major events of the summer is a Battle of the Bands, where legitimate bands (with at least one member of our firm in them) perform. It is a very LOUD, very fun, very tiring 7+ hour event, and it's my pleasure to coordinate the evening. We had about 450 people in attendance last night!

And for the past 5 years, there has always been a "surprise" act. The most infamous surprise act was back in 2001, when Frisky Kitty took the stage for the first time. FK was a band that arose out of a happy hour idea gone haywire, and produced 5 female members of the firm performing a song on stage, live, with real musical instruments, when no one had any sort of formal musical training (or talent). I was an inaugural member of that group, and after the raucuous reception (even though we were not very good - must have been the leather pants  ), we decided to repeat the act with 4 songs in 2002. We then retired on a "high" note.

Fast forward to 2006, when we all (and a few new members) reconvened after the 2005 "surprise" act, Sourpuss, threatened FK's integrity as the greatest all female band to ever perform at BOB. It was one final swan song - heck, it was 7 final swan songs!!! I'm happy it's over, but also happy to report that we were a heck of a lot better in 2006 than in the past - and we survived!

I love it! It sounds like a great event and I'm glad it was a success.

I see Captain Kent is right in there with the "scenic." :rotfl: -- This was meant for Tammi - another case of forgetting to hit "quote." I think it's residual from when Denise bruised our brain.

I was SO thinking that same thing as I just looked at the pictures. Great pictures, Tammi!

Sounds like you had a great swim team weekend. Our Gwinnett County meet was this weekend at Georgia Tech Olympic Aquatic Center. It was HUGE!!! Friday was just for the 8yr old and under. Alex did great!!! He placed 15th in 50yd freestyle and the 25yd butterfly. He thought getting 15th was bad since he was used to placing 1st and 2nd at the local meets. I had to explain to him that 15th in the county meet was super!!!! We had a great time.

My flight was great. First of all the Regan airport is so very easy in security. Probably just because it is not as busy as some airports. I mean I went thru the screenings but they were really laid back.
I have to figure out how to get the pictures from my camera to my sister's photoshop to my photobucket.

As I was coming on the plane, I asked the Flight Attendant if I could have a pair of wings for Mickey (Thomas) he teased me and said "Oh those are really for you" I told him the story of Thomas and he came back later with a pair of wings and I immediately put them on Thomas. As I was getting off the plane, I gave him information on how he could read about the Pal Mickey's travels and he asked if I would like a picture of Thomas in the cockpit. I was so surprised and tried to get my camera out of my purse and the batteries fell out !!!!! Down on the tarmack they went. The pilot ran down the steps and brought them up. Took Thomas and put him on the console and told me I could take his picture. I looked at him and said "Are you sure?" He let me take the picture of Thomas in the cockpit and he positioned his hat to make it look like Thomas was wearing it. Then he even let me stand IN THE COCKPIT and took my picture with Thomas. I will post pictures later hopefully

Oh, how cool! I can't wait to see the pictures.

Good to see you Baloo!

Thanks for the pictures everyone! I can't wait to see the rest from Terri and Elin when they get them up. It was so nice to see all your smiling faces having such a good time together. I am SO going next time around!! I hope that at least some of you got to go home to better temps! Looks like we stuck with the 90s for a few more days which means 85 or so (hopefully not more) in the apartment since we have no A/C.

Luckily, I only have to work really hard lugging things in and out of closests and sorting for our move. I started some packing yesterday and Terra is being a (surprisingly) wonderful help at it. Unfortunately, she is determined that we need to leave NOW! I think it is going to be harder to get her to wait for this move than it will our Disney trip.

Speaking of which, I think I have to cancel October. :sad1: The money dates are just to close together for the move and trip, plus I would be abandoning my sister just after having her give up her babysitter. So, I'm am waiting to see if our Feb trip has to move. Then, we'll probably plan something for December since sis will be on maternity leave then. I'm still holding out hope for Oct and not cancelling yet, but we'll see.

Hope everyone stays cool today!

CONGRATULATIONS to Alex!

I think we are going to start Miles in the Fall. He turned 7 in May and loves to swim. Laura isn't particularly fast, but she enjoys it and it keeps her in shape. She started late (the summer after 4th grade). Her real love is synchronized swimming (though she started even later into that). This was her last meet as an 11-12, and I'm worried about that move into the 13-14 division. It seems like the mediocre swimmers start dropping out by that age, so competition gets tougher. So far the social aspect is enough to keep her in it!

Hi Everyone! I have about 400 posts to catch up on! Michigan was fun, I'll post pics of the birthday party whenever I get the chance. When we got home from MI, our compressor on our house AC went out, so I'll be dealing with that for the next few days. Mom will be over today for a few days, we are celebrating our birthdays tomorrow. If I missed anything major, please PM and let me know! It'll be months before I can catch up!
That sucks that the compressor blew in the AC. But glad you had a great time in Michigan. Have fun with your Mom. So when is your actual birthday?

It is definitely great excercise!!! Just during 1- 45 minute practice I think they do atleast 15 - 20 laps in the pool. I am more of a social swimmer and prefer to float around. I can't imagine going 3-4 laps in a row without a break. Swimming during the summers really gets the boys ready for football in the fall. Which is my true passion!!!
