My girlfriend and I are going to be staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel at the end of August - I haven't been back for a number of years and have heard that the day after a park has its magic hours is the best time to visit that park, is this true? When I was little my parents always took us to the park that had magic hours but now I'm thinking of planning my visits for the days after that park has its magic hours, is this a good idea or have I read wrong?

Depends.

Other factors include weather, hard ticket events (i.e., Christmas & Halloween), Extra Magic Hours on the day you are going……etc.

I'm no pro, but Josh at:

is excellent.

His 'Cheat Sheets' give an idea Park touring strategies, and his Crowd Calendars give a written explanation about Best versus Worst Parks for any given day.

I agree that it's much easier, and possibly better to use a reliable crowd calendar that gives park recommendations. We've used easywdw.com to plan our park days on several visits and find them very good. I have also followed his cheat sheets with success.

As others have said, there are many contributing factors. However, you are correct that, in general, the crowds are lighter the day after EMH. This is because many people go to the park on EMH days but don't usually go to the same park twice in a row.
