Hi Ladies,
I am back home. As some of you know, my Mom passed away last Tuesday evening, July 31. We got the call while at Disney with my brother and his family. We left for Georgia on 8/1 and got back yesterday afternoon.
It was a long an emotional weekend, dont think I have anything left in my tear ducts. After the funeral Saturday morning, we headed back to my sister Wendy's house. Our party included all five of Dads sisters, Moms two sisters and their husbands and a cousin. We stayed through three meals, numerous bottles of booze, my sweet DH Joe played guitar and we all sang, LOUDLY, for over two hours. We sang every song we used to sing on family road trips and the soundtrack to The Sound of Music twice with my brothers making futile attempts at the high notes. We of course acted it all out, have it on video, but everyone wants to keep their jobs so there is no posting on Facebook, hahaha. Later, we broke out the tunes and made a dance floor and danced and danced. My sister Noelle and brother Chris did the best improv dance, we were all laughing so hard
I could barely breathe and my side hurt for two days! We ended the party about 8 pm, right after a huge thunderstorm and a double rainbow appeared as we were all saying our goodbyes in the driveway. We knew Mom was happy then we always get insanely crazy when all six of us get together. We bring out the best in each other and for that I will always be truly grateful. It was the perfect send off for Mom, she soo loved it when we were all together and got silly.
On Sunday, us six kids and spouses got together for pool time and a cookout at brother Matts house. Dad was too tired but we think he just needed some time to decompress. It was truly a sad but joyful weekend.
I find comfort in kmowing Mom is no longer in pain, is at peace and in the Lords House. I think thats what is getting us all through this...one day at a time.
