~The Daily Grind~ 4/20/09
It's Monday again! AND did you see it's the 20th already? Now where did THIS month go?!?

OK, my story from the weekend...we had a blowout on the truck while we were driving down on Friday afternoon. I kept telling DH something didn't feel right...we were shimming side to side...he said it was fine...who was right? Yup me...sounded like a gunshot! Back drivers side tire. Scared us both!! DH tried to get the lug nuts off...heavy duty truck has 8 !@#$%^& nuts, 6 frozen. Now here is the visual...me, jumping on the tire iron trying to get the things lose...holding on to the luggage rack on the top of the truck. I'm sure there was plenty of laughter as people passed us... THEN, down swoops a guardian angel. His name was Michael, and he got the last nut off, and had a better jack than DH, and helped him get the spare on... I asked DH if he thought when the guy took off his jacket, there were wings under there... And as quick as he came on the scene, he was gone again, and we were on our way... I told DH he has to pay it forward now, and the next time he sees someone on the side of the road, he must stop...it's the way things are...

Today I have to:

Caffeinate

Go through classes for CKC

Swish and swipe potties

I'm on it Holly! I'm with you.

Deb- so glad you had an angel!

We had a wild weekend too! DS turned 4!!! I can't believe my little guy is 4. My SIL had to start blabbing that next year he'll be 5 and going to Kindergarten. I wanted to slap her.

DH's car wouldn't start on Saturday, thought it was the battery, couldn't jump it. So we left it and are going to get it next weekend (it's 1.5 hours away at another SIL's) and BIL calls today to say it's starting just fine. :confused3

The kids and DH ran a fun run on Saturday. I'm so proud of DD, she ran the kids 1 mile race and then turned around and ran the 5K with DH. Did I mention it was in the middle of a torrential downpour? And that while they were out running I found out we were under a tornado warning?? :scared1:

Everyone have a WONDERFUL Monday!!

Ok, I need an opinion!! I have 80 bajillion million pics of DS developed. I put the first 400 in 2 little albums (the kind with area on the sides for journaling). I didn't journal them because I was just going to "pull them right out really soon and scrap them all beautifully and perfectly, etc." So, now, those pics are "look, here's DS as we get ready to take him home from the hospital" and he'll be 9 months old in 2 weeks (still not sure how 9 months went by so fast). The rest of this month and next STINK at work, so I don't have a lot of time to scrap. I'm thinking of getting a big album that I can put the others in (may have to have 2 BIG albums) and journaling beside them--then this summer, I can pull them out and scrap them a little at a time. I'm a little afraid that if I don't do that now, I'll forget a lot of the details.

What do you all think--is this "double-scrapping"? I'm also a little afraid that if I do this, I won't take them apart and scrap them. But I will, right?? That's what y'all keep me motivated to do!! ;)

Sorry for my crazy ramblings!! Just needed to run this by people who would understand!!

Brooke I know exactly how you feel. I did develop all the pics of bubba and put them in albums. And my plan was to work on his books as I went. But I did not start scrapping until his was older than your bubba. So I was behind from the get go. I still print them and put them in books and hopefully I can get moving on his books. But at least I have them printed when I'm ready. So I'm really no help. And my bubba is 7! OMG!:scared1: how in the world did that happen?? I would say keep printing and putting in books, because you can't possible scrap them all. Or at least I know I can't. Because I'm a picture taking fool. I have to have a million pics of each event. Then I want to pick out the best ones to scrap. Or so that's how I think in my warped little mind!!!!:rotfl:

I'm on it Holly! I'm with you.

thank you i'll need it!

We had a wild weekend too! DS turned 4!!! I can't believe my little guy is 4. My SIL had to start blabbing that next year he'll be 5 and going to Kindergarten. I wanted to slap her.

i would want to slap her too! my SIL does it to me all the time. and my bubba is 7!!! I so know how you feel. love him every day is what i say!:goodvibes

and congrats to your DD for running the races. good for her. way to go M!:yay:

Deb, you are lucky you were able to get any of those lug nuts off manually. Most tires are put on with power thingies, near impossible to get off. Thank goodness you guys weren't hurt with the blowout. :scared:

Po3, glad you had a good time in NYC. I waved to you and MorgansMom as I went by your exits yesterday.

rlovew, wow, I am impressed too. Good for you on the exercising.

SIOH, I agree. Put the pictures in an album with some journaling notes. That way you are at least organized when you want to go back and do more decorative scrapping. Have you considered the CM Picfolio albums? They would work great for what you have in mind.

My Monday to do list: :scared1:

Organize and have purse, backpack, paperwork ready for the day - done
call in prescription - done
Swap my car with DB. For some reason my car has a HUGE oil puddle under it in the garage. Thank goodness I got home with it from the Cape.
Work - after two weeks of being out of the office, this is going to be a nightmare.:scared1::scared1: But as odd as it may sound, I am glad to be getting back into a routine. I need my structure.
:laundy: I have a mountain chain of MT Washmore this week.

Lisa- that's funny because I thought of my CT friends yesterday. Our train broke down coming home and we were towed back to South Norwalk got off, then the business Acela (which we had to stand on) brought us to New Haven where we had to wait for a new train to pick us up to take us the rest of the way. So 4 hrs later we were back in Providence. So i'm not sure when you were waving to me, but i think i was waving to everyone in CT hoping it was some of my dis friends!

Wow you all had a great weekend. I spent half of mine with two wet puppies. All week will be with wet puppies.
I'm glad you are okay Deb. Glad you had fun Holly, hope the audit goes smoothly. I'd slap SIL too Ash. My baby is in first grade and I hate it. If he hadn't missed so much school due to illness, I'd be taking some mommy'n'me days with him. Rebecca, I've got nothing. 3x's? Yup, I've got nothing. SIOH putting the photos in an album with some journaling is much better then putting them in a box with post-it notes. Did you know that post-its don't stay sticky forever? :confused3

Wet puppies.
Kiddos for school.
More puppies.
Head to HL for adhesive and black & white paper.
Lunch.
Puppies.
Get kiddos from school.

Dinner.

Don't be so impressed with the 3 times- I can only handle it for 5 minutes a time so really I only get in 15 minutes if I do it 3 times. I am determined to lose at least 10 pounds by June for our anniversary trip. I can't fit into any of my clothes I have 2 pairs of pants and 2 dresses and sweats. I refuse to buy more so I am having a salad for a meal once a day, working out on the bike/eliptical- I will go up 1 minute each week (per time) and walking the path in town (2 miles)- 3 times a week. I am also cutting back on the salty and sweet snacks. I bought little things that don't have as many calories and can have some of that and fruits and vegies.

My salads are low calerie since I don'y use dressing- they are spinich, peppers, carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and sometimes a little ham or turkey.

Rebecca

Debbie, how nice that you got help with tire.
PO3, I'm glad that you had such a great time this weekend.
SIOH, I agree with the others on putting the photos in albums with journalling.
Ashley, congratulations to your DD on her runs this weekend. Good for her!!! Belated Happy Birthday to you DS. They sure grow up way faster than we want them to!!!

I think it is a good idea- you probably won't scrap all pf these photos but you will want to do some of them. I would say that if you at least have the journaling you will be able to more easily scrap them someday with something more than "What a cutie" as your journaling.

Would it help if you kept a couple of pictures with you along with some journaling cards and then when you had a chance journalled them (when you just have to take a break or expolode) and then papercliped them in to the spot. You could use the cards on the pages you do but you would have everything handy until you have the time. Also if you decided to only do half of the photos in scrapbooks you could glue down the journalling in the photo book right where it would end up after scrapping the other pictures.

Rebecca

Debbie ~ Did you know that Michael means "son of God".. I've seen that several times. So your guardian angel had your back. So sorry about the blow out but when will men listen to us when we say something isn't right... LISTEN!!!
Holly ~ sorry to hear about the train..but its all scrapping material! LOL Glad that you all had a wonderful time.
Ash~ you are training her early to be a runner!! Now, running in the rain is typical especially for cross country.... not so much for tornado watches/warnings...but we ran under one last year too... but we didn't get notification til half way through the race... urgh...
Brooke ~ I think it's a good idea to "double scrapbook"... this will let you remember the moment if you scrapbook on a page the photo later.. you won't have to rack your mind w/ a date, when, where, what, etc..

I would like to say that I do love my SIL. I just had a 'Mommy moment' and wanted to smack her. ;)

The kids (DS ran the mile) loved running in the rain. I'm not sure DD would have run had she known about the tornado warning.

Brooke, journal now!Mommy brains are sieves you will lose that info, trust me!!! This way if you do scrap the pics you have your notes handy, if you don't it's already there!

Deb - God bless Michael. Now will men ever learn that we do know what we are talking about on occasion?!?!

Holly - Glad you had a blast! I'll let you know when it's Thursday cause Friday I'll be on a plane to WDW!!!!!! :cool1: And celebrating 16 gloriously blissful years with my hubby.
4 hours to get from NYC to PVD??? Crazy!! If I had known I would have come to rescue you!

Ash - Tell DD I said congrats on such a great accomplishment!

AWM - get each dog their own beach towel. Popcorn had his own towel that I put on a hook by the door.

Rebecca - Good luck with the Weight loss. I need to get back at it too. I have got to drop at least 50 pounds, preferably 70, but I'm going to take it pound at a time. I am happy to report though that the shorts I had last summer, still fit!!!

Lisa-when your Mount Washmore is done, can you come scale mine? I did 6 loads yesterday, mom did 2 while we went out for dinner, and I have 8 or so to do today.

Hi Deb, so glad your angel stopped and helped you out!

PO3, so glad you had a nice trip. I've been wanting to take Morgan in to see a show for months...Maybe next year for vacation week.

Rebecca, slow and steady! You can do it!

Nancy, I'm tired just reading your list again :)

Ash, congrats on your DD, and Happy Birthday to DS! Morgan's going to be 9 in July...I don't think it's fair...I keep telling her to stop getting any older!

Ann, why are the puppies wet?

Lisa, I thought I felt my ears burning. I was at my sister's helping her move. Too bad we couldn't have met up for coffee or something! Hope you had a great trip!

Brooke, awww, 9 months...Those were the days, enjoy!

I'm working today. Marathon Monday and they run right by my office. So, I get some of the atmosphere without all the cold weather and (as much) noise. It's all good.

Morgan's on vacation this week. We were going to go into the Museum of Science tomorrow, but it's supposed to rain...I'm just not interested in going into Boston in the rain. So, I think we'll either go see 17 Again or Hannah Montana. I'll let her choose.

Hope everyone has a great day!

It's been raining. It'll rain all week. They have houses outside and beds inside.

Well I have done 2 of the times on the bike (2 miles in the 11 minutes so far today) and took a 2 mile walk. I had a salad for lunch. I have conquered day 2. Now I just need to keep it up for a few more weeks. Once I see the wieght coming off that should be the incentive I need.

Rebecca
