~The Daily Grind~ 4/14/10

 Yippee!

After two+ months of stalling and refusals, the school district just phoned to say that they WILL hire/contract one of the reading comprehension specialists we suggested to evaluate DS! (Who has been "stuck" on the same grade level for five years with his reading comprehension...)

I have NO idea what really prompted this change, but I have been in contact with state officials during the past few days to begin a complaint/mediation/hearing process. Maybe that did it...or....? popcorn::

Happy day! (Now just to squeeze our way onto the evaluator's insanely busy schedule ASAP like every other concerned family is trying to do!) We're really counting on her to examine why he is having these problems and what special ed services he needs to get onto (and stay on!) grade level.

Hooray!

Pam HORRAY its about time. We've been really lucky with the jr high spec ed teachers. Same district and they are 110% better than the elem. I called meeting constanly and had an advocate get involved.
I will say that saying on grade level is a huge uphill battle L still is just clinging to it and sometimes slides below. So even if he catches up it's not going to be a picnic. Enfact sometimes it's worse.

you're at least on to something and rattling every cage you can is the key.

Pixie dust Rita!

Great news Pam!!

Trm- my nephew is ok. Finally home from the hospital. He has crohns disease.
At least we know now. Thanks for asking.

Good news Pam... Bout darn time they did what we already knew was necessary and most beneficial for DS!!!!

TRM ~ what did the doctor say the other day w/ DD's pain???

Holls ~ at least they know now what they are dealing with... but boy has that family been hit hard.. bless them all for keeping their faith and moving forward... Hope all continues to go well!!

AR- Hope it all went well!! Scary stuff, sending PD :wizard:

PBF- Glad things are finally moving forward!!

Holly- So happy Bubba is feeling better!! And a diagnosis is the first step for you nephew. Once it's under control, he will be feeling so much better!!

As for me, another stressful day. Seems that I forgot to do something yesterday. Ya know that feeling you get when you are so nervous, and you know you can't make a mistake because you are being watched? And then you made a mistake anyway? Yeah, well, that's where I'm at right now. I have to get better focus. I'm off tomorrow, and it's a good thing! Regroup... refocus... and try to talk DH into letting me go part time again....

Thanks ladies.
I just got back from brother in law duty. My sister had to work and my nephew is out of commission so I took over dinner for my bil. I'm sure that he is not keen on his sil feeding him but he accepted my help. I made a veggie and chicken medley for him and I. Nephew was sleeping. I left a note for his girlfriend to make sure he eats when he wakes up. Something light. And my dh will go over in a bit and help him to the bathroom and put him (bil) to bed. Then my sister should be home shortly after.
Thanks for all your thoughts.

Anyone heard how Rita made out?

Deb take a breath and step back. You'll make it. Now matter what happens with this job/shift it will all turn out ok. I have faith in you. Remember that you have all our support with you each and every day.
Put a penny on your pocket and that penny will be me
and when you feeling low reach on your pocket and there I will be!!!
MA told me that A very long time ago and I've had to use it quite a few times.
Hugs my friend.

Rita, I hope all went well, take it easy and rest for a bit.
RBF, so glad the town is arranging for the evaluation you want.
Deb, sorry to hear you had an off day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
Holly, good that they now know what your nephew has, treatment can begin.

I got a call about a half hour ago from our pediatrician, (I know can you imagine a dr making calls late in the evening, I love our dr). He received DD's EEG results. Fortunately there is nothing to be concerned with, chances are she probably won't have further seizures. I certainly hope not!:scared: Now I just need to get over my worries about DD swimming in a deep pool.

Hmm. I sincerely hope not, too, Lisa, but I hope he also gave you some explaination why she had those two, out of the blue like that!

Does the pool have lifeguards? Can she swim? Can she float? But that still doesn't ease a mama's worries . . . they seem to go with the territory of parenting. But what can you do? at some point, ya have ta let them try.

Hope Rita's tests went well.

Yay for Pam's hard-nosed stance! It worked!

I was insanely busy at work yesterday - Boss was glad to have me back and gave me tons and tons of work...I'm glad to be off today.

Hope everyone had a good day!

Pam!! I am so excited for you!! I hope you get on the specialists schedule quickly!!

DDs pain was weird. Piggybacked the tylenol and advil - then put her to bed. Dr says to call if the pain comes back. Today she is off the crutches and moving around fairly well. I told her "no running and no PE" but you know kids....
thanks for checking up on her!!

Holly - I had to chuckle at your post - I did the head shake, reread - you went over to feed BIL and nephew was out of commission. Left note for his girlfriend. And I thought...um....what did she just say?? Her BIL has a girlfriend!!? Wow how does that workout? :lmao: I get it now. Or at least I think...Nephew has the girlfriend right!? I need more coffee!!

too funny trm!

yes my nephew is 19 and has a girlfriend. he's out of commission because he just came home from the hospital. he usually takes care of my bil when my sister works. he (bil) has als. so there always needs to be someone there.

i should have made that more clear!
