~The Daily Grind~ 12/7/09

Morgansmom~ dont you just love it when the girls turn around and surprise us with what they can do?
Definitely, "There for the grace of God"!

Pam, thank you. But all I do is get the word out, store and deliver. Banana and I havnt done more than shop for the things we are putting in our bags.
Im waiting for the last trip to see how many I need to put together to make sure we get that 300, although I know we have it.
I just found a big box of things on my porch from my inlaws.
Yes, Virginia, there is!

Rita - Good to see you join us today! That is an awesome story, I know the school will appreciate it so much!

And Oreo is a dog - he's super cute... or.. he was when he was younger.

Here he is right when we got him:

Now he's all big and lanky and scruffy - but he's still cute!

jennifer-that's one of my favorite sayings.

AR- love that you wrote....yes Virginia, there is.....

I love the puppy photos of Oreo - he still kinda looks the same, but substitute legs like Danica's ATAT from Star Wars - and that's him now!

This "not decorating much" plan for this year is biting me in the butt! We have SO many decorations that our storage areas look like the Indiana Jones warehouse. All the boxes' contents are labeled and are put back in order - stuff we need first - general household decorations for each room is in the front, and tree decorations, etc. are in the way back, since we do our tree *right* before Christmas.

But, this year, since we didn't pull out and empty the front boxes, I can't get to the back boxes - to the Christmas tree skirt back there. UGH! Normally, this would be easily accessible by now, since we traditionally decorate over Thanksgiving weekend. I'll have to wait until at least the weekend and plead for help to get everyone to help empty the storage areas to get to the tree skirt. So, no 'handprint' painting anytime soon...

I have to make a list, but I don't know how much of it I'll actually get too. This weekend, was supposed to be a big "get lots done before the parents come weekend." But on Friday, we went to DH's office Christmas party. And we picked up a stomach bug that was going around. So I spent all weekend flat on my back. DH started feeling better last night, but not enough to do anything. I still feel weak, and have a headache, but I have to do some plugging away.

Fluff Christmas tree downstairs Even got lights on it
Kitchen Table
Hang pictures in family room
Hang pictures in guest room
Hang pictures living room
Hang shelf living room
Move Disney boxes in living room to library
Sort Disney boxes in library
Stack sorted boxes neatly
Put trees up and fluff in living room
Vacuum
:laundy: done
Put totes in bedroom in closet
Empty last suitcase in bedroom
Suitcases in storage
Empty collectibles boxes in attic

Probably more stuff I can't think of right now...

:hug:AR. I too think you are great.
And yes, this was our first white stuff of the year.

PBF, you can send me some snuggies and socks. I need some longer socks. All I have are those ankle length ones and that leaves WAY too much skin showing in the winter. ***Brrr***

Got the grocery shopping done. Didn't make it to the post office before the lunch break, so I'll go when they reopen. :thumbsup2

PBF~ I share your pain! The year we sold the first house and had to live in an apartment while this house was being built no one "thought" and the tree was put in the storage unit behind the washer, dryer and refrigerator!!
DH had an old silver tree complete with color wheel that had belonged to his grandmother that we used that year and being a preschool teacher we made all of our ornaments.
Oreo is adorable!
And to our friend in Cali, we are getting your rain here to the point I almost couldnt see to drive! I heard you are getting alot of that white stuff!

And I still havnt started the cards!:scared1:

Phooey! My boss needs me to work tomorrow. Fudge! I'll go in for a couple hours and then go to school and have lunch with La Princess...and then do all my errands. So much for any scrappy time tomorrow :(

Hope, my friend went to a wedding on Saturday and got food poisoning! She had to go to the ER because it morphed into a migraine too! She needed IV fluids and meds to get better. I hope you are feeling much better! :goodvibes

Well, the room isn't spinning like Sat, but I can't seem to shake this headache, so it's still making life difficult. When DH got to work today, he found out that a co-worker upstairs got something early in the week, and it was making the rounds. Would have been nice to know that before shaking everyone's hands. I am accomplishing a little off my list today, but I keep having to take breaks, so it is slow going.

Well, I guess I'm better at carpentry and light construction than making peanut brittle!

The massive pin board project is going well - I've been sawing, drilling, screwing (excuse me!), and gluing for the past two hours. Now just waiting for the Liquid Nails adhering the cork layer to dry - 24 hours - and then I can put the soft velcro fabric over the board and staple gun it around the reverse side.

The recipe I used was cooking the brittle in the microwave. Never again! Not only did it boil over and make a total mess of the bowl and the carousel, it never got to the "hard crack" (300 degrees) stage, so it is soft and gooey, not hard like peanut brittle should be. What a waste of time and money - and my yummy maple syrup! Next time, I'll use a recipe that cooks in a pot on the stove and I'll use my candy thermometer.

Aww....I am sorry the brittle did not work out. I thought after the report of delicious bowl scraping we were good to go. Dang it.

ZTH and PBF, Oreo's puppy photos are wonderful. He's so cute!!!! I showed the pictures to DH and DS and now DS is back to wanting a puppy. My kitties couldn't handle that at all!:rotfl:

Thanks - Oreo's baby pix *were* adorable - I really loved that tiny little corduroy coat he had on in the one photo! Now, it wouldn't even fit onto his tail! (But, I did save it...what a sentimental sap I am!)

Well, in the "making lemonade" spirit, when DH goes out in a little bit to pick Z2H up from work, he's going to get vanilla ice cream. My not-so-brittle brittle tastes like cinnamon pralines :lovestruc and would be great heated up as an ice cream topping! Calories, schmallories...can't waste that maple syrup, butter, sugar, and peanuts! Maybe I just discovered a great new recipe...

Excuse me? You just had pancakes for dinner!!!!! What are you doing having dessert, missy?!?! Hahaha...

AR, what a great story. I needed to hear that, gives you a restored faith in the season.

Good luck at the doc, Holly. Definitely not the most fun you'll have lying down :lmao:

Jennifer that is horrible. Hope, I hope you and your DH feel better soon

Oreo is a cutie.

Some of the best recipes happened by accident.

My friend said that she didn't realize the shrimp weren't on ice until she'd had a few and then it was too late. Can you imagine? The caterers should be force-fed bad shrimp!
