trm - the recipes i used are here - i imagine you could substitute the orange and cranberry. banana scones and pumpkin scones. I didn't do the frosting for the pumpkin ones, i just didn't think they needed it. Huh, just realized i forgot the egg in the pumpkin ones - they taste fine without it!

OK - etiquette question - baby gifts -
acquaintence had a baby - they are better friends with BIL & SIL but families have been ranching together forever. Our toddlers are the same age but we aren't really friends. We were not invited to the baby shower. Have seen the baby once at a school festival. Just received birth announcement in the mail. she was born 10/12.

Am I obligated to send a gift? don't mean to sound tacky but I guess I do.

OK so as I read through this it occurs to me I need to send a little something. Got any creative ideas for a baby girl little something?

TRM - I think a little dress is plenty! Kohl's has baby stuff on sale all the time.

Note to self....bring ear plugs on next field trip, boy 60 5th grades are LOUD and a bit rude too, the kindergarteners listen better .
I have 2 more field trips I already signed up for plus sleep away camp that's a 3 hour bus ride and 3 hour ferry ride each way! At least it didn't rain on us!
they had fun running through the forest though learning about the ecosystems.

I feel your pain. One class of 4th graders on a bus last June almost pushed me over the edge. I actually tried to get out of riding the bus - pulled a "I'm a migraine sufferer" and then felt bad. It's rather hellish though, isn't it?

Lisa, you are a braver woman than I dealing with all those kids on a field trip.

My Thursday to do list:

Feed cats
put laundry away
Get DD up and ready for school
write in DD's communication book
Make sure $ is in her bag for her field trip
take DH's car to work, he needs to pick up new trash compactor and dishwasher
caffeinate
mail out some cards.
work
dinner
start putting clothes aside to pack for Thanksgiving weekend.
exercise on bike
oversee tubby time

the funny thing is, it was only 15 min to the place, don't know how I'm going to survive the camp trip, but have to suck it up and have til June to prepare myself, the other two are only going to be 30-45 min rides so not too bad.
Plus I figure these might be the last trips with Megan, don't think she'll want to mama coming along in middle school next year
