~The Daily Grind~ 1/31/10

Last day of January :confused3 How did that happen? Yet again, a month has gone by... They just seem to fly!

So, I woke up this morning saying "Brrrrrrrrr...it's a bit chilly" Yup, 56 in the house! Little piddle thing out the back is frozen solid. I'm out there with a kettle of boiling water, a chopstick and a potty mouth. It's frozen into the house where I can't reach! Had to go down in the basement with the turkey baster and suck all the water out of the overflow... got like 1/2 gal out. But at least the heater kicked on... It's up to 62 now...

My list for today:

Wait for the service guy to call back... maybe he can give me a tip on the little frozen piddle thingy

Start cookin' - Something crock pot today...not sure what yet... maybe pulled pork?

Watch NCIS dvr'd shows and crochet on my sweater...

Have a Great Sunday everyone!!

So sorry to hear this Deb. I wish I lived closer. Dh worked
for a plumber for a while. He could help.

Well I have a stinkin headache so I have no list.
Bubba and dh are working on his pinewood derby car today.
I'm doing laundry and laying low.

Have a great day everyone.

Brrrr, that's chilly!

I'm going to see Baby Princess Sophie today! I went out early this morning and bought some balloons to hang on their mailbox and then we will go over and see them after lunch (my sister said after 1:00, so I'll be there at 1:01!).

Hope your headache goes away, Holly.

Everyone have a good day!

Holly- Sorry for the headache! Hope it goes away soon so you can enjoy the day with your boys...

Jennifer- Have a great time with the lil' princess!

Repair guy's call was a waste of time... "Try sticking something up there to break away the ice" yeah, thanks buddy... I never would have thought of that...

DH (who of course is at work during all this) suggested I use the steam cleaner thingy... so I'm going to try that now, and maybe I can melt the ice away with that...

Good Sunday mornin all (well, it's almost afternoon now, lol)--

Deb - pulled pork sounds great!

Holly - Hope you feel better soon, but I'm right there with ya. I've had a headache since about this time yesterday, it's finally starting to ease up, but I have a long way to go. When is Bubba's derby? Ours was Friday night. DS got 4th in his group.....he won his group and Grand Champ last year, so he was disappointed, but that's how it goes!

Jennifer - Enjoy your visit with Princess Sophie!

All I did yesterday was go to the boys' basketball games. I had a headache by the time we got home, and I laid around on the couch all day long. We skipped church today. DH had to work, and it was 3° when he left just before 8:00. Add to that we got snow yesterday and the roads refroze overnight......we're staying home today. I've been cleaning house, as much as I can.

List for today:
unload dishes
reload dishes
take recycle stuff outside (later, when it's a little warmer out)
lunch - will be leftovers

run sweeper in downstairs
mop kitchen floor

put away laundry that DH did yesterday
see about doing another load or so of laundry
dinner - ?? maybe more leftovers? We usually go to the IL's for Sunday dinner, but they live way out on a road that doesn't get treated at all with a curvy, downhill driveway--we're staying home.
Hopefully find some time to scrap

Sorry about the headaches. I got to thinking maybe, here at least, my headaches and sinus pressure might be from breathing heated air while sleeping. You know, dry air. But I don't know if you all run humidifiers or dehumidifiers or all that fun East Coast stuff.

In any event - feel better!

Deb - I have no idea what you are talking about thawing out but thanks for the laugh this morning!

Sunday - to have a list sounds so wrong - but we women make the world go 'round. Right?

Little one up first
COFFEE
few dishes into DW
Hot water into sink for casserole dish
Play Playdoh
Clothes into dryer
Watch Special Agent Oso
Wake DD up to feed pig
DBIL called - DH up to help roofing project on new pens
MORE COFFEE
check status on missing stirrups?

DD maybe to barn to ride horses
2pm meet 4H scrapbooking group at JoAnns to discuss tools options, etc.
PU stirrups at PO Box
LSS to see whats left at their sale
Work on swaps
6 pm - DNieces 13th Bday dinner
Think I will steam clean the carpet when younger two go to bed - potty training....ewwwww....

Thanks everyone.

Our derby is next Saturday. We have weigh ins on Friday night.
Then the races on Saturday. So looking forward to it.

I decided to try my gypsy today and it's not working. And I
have a ton of questions. Why oh why would I pick a day that
I have a cranking headache to try something new. H.e.l.l.o.
Mcfly!!!!!
Duh!!

Jennifer enjoy baby Sophie. Give her lots of lovin' from me!!!

To Do List:
Apparently not much. My joints hurt, all of them. And my hands and feet look like they belong on a Yeti.
So I'm hoping the kids behave well enough to take the trash out, do dishes, and pick up the living room.

Eww Buffy. Thanks for the visual.

Sorry about the headaches and bad stuff. :grouphug:

Not sure what is on the agenda today.
Just be happy if the boys don't drive daddy insane.

The steam thinger worked, and the water can flow to the outside now...no more turkey baster to drain the overflow...

The lil repair guy came out because we have a "comfort contract" and that means we go at the top of the list. He said we can re-route the little drain hose so the thing never goes outside...and will never freeze again. BUT of course he doesn't have enough of the little drain hose in his truck, and we need another service call... sigh... :confused3

But at least we have a warm house again!

With all the excitement (for lack of a better word), the pork got on later than planned, so hopefully it will be done in time for dinner...

Hope you are feeling better and back to normal soon Buffy!

Good luck with the gyspy and headache PO3!

Today:
service
lunch out
out for WiFi- we have no bandwith for the month left at the house and my little brother needed to finish an assignment- so we are at Crispers now- since he wasn't sure where it was.
finish Jan pages
youth
pick up a bit in scrap area
homemade pizza for dinner

Rebecca

Deb, that must have been a horrible feeling waking up to.
Holly, hope your headache has eased up. Because of the woodstove, we run two humidifyers, one upstairs and one downstairs if we didn't our headaches would be horrific. The house gets too dry.

Today we got up at the dawns early light and drove an hour to go to CocoKey Water Resort for 7:00 am. Autism Speaks had a private event there for families touched by autism. We had a blast! I think Typhoon Lagoon is in our future in two weeks.

The rest of the day was spent putzing around the house, laundry, picking out clothes for my upcoming business trip.

Look who we met today!

She's the most precious thing! What a good baby she is. I hope it continues for them...
