The Daily Grind 1-2-2012

Jennifer,

I'm making PJ an 8 x 8 baby book (I won't part w/ the original yet!) I'm having a really hard time with 8 x 8.... but I'm determined to do it... I need to get it done in 2 weeks.. I think I'm going to do it digital because I found an awesome CM set that just screamed to me.. so tomorrow will be scanning the photos I had already selected. I will then take those photos and put them back into the 1993 family album...

Fun!

Jennifer, mine had squat!!!! may try a big one tomorrow. no clearance anything!! i did manage to snag a MS bone folder for $4, i lost mine in the move.

My Jo's had one of those rolly racks with TONS of stuff on it. Clear rubber stamps, stickers, glitter glue, among other scrappy supplies, along with kids Christmas crafts, lip gloss, Christmas band-aids, pins, necklaces, etc. I bought a few things for stocking stuffers next year. Since I only paid $.30, I won't care if I can't find them next year :lmao:

Jennifer, I am off tomorrow. I usually just work on Mondays and Thursdays. I may have to add an extra day if our audit is scheduled for early in the year, but I've been able to handle it with just 2 work days a wk for the last couple of years. I've been sitting in the floor with a pile of pictures and my new sketch book while watching the Fiesta Bowl. Should be able to scrap a few hours tomorrow afternoon.

Ah, I work MWF, so have T/T to myself. I try to get all my 'chores and errands' done of the two days so I can have the other to myself - either to craft, catch up on TV, or read. Love my days to myself!

Dang it - got me a Nook. Love a free book!!

And sooo going to J's tomorrow and see whats there!! Need a 2 drawer organizer and some Xyron refills and Cricut blades and....and....;)

And and and...I have a Nook too, but thought the book was timely since we are all working on organizing this year ;)

Rebecca, I host the crops at my Michaels. Each store has different tools in their classrooms, but they all should have a Cricut (with some cartridges), Cuttlebug or Sizzix (with some dies), punches and stamps out for you to use. Each store also does their crop differentely, some do demos, some play games (w/prizes), some just let you be. It's all up to whomever is hostessing.

This month's theme is the Smash book and they should have a sample book that has had some pages smashed so that you can see what it's all about and then help you get started if you are interested.

For my crops, most of my attendees don't want a demo, they just want to work on their own thing, so I usually have a few games (with prizes - some that are donated by sponsors and some that my manager lets me pull off the floor) that are easy to do while they are working and then I give out the monthly project sheet for that month's crop.

Also, the Cricut cartridges will vary. My store has about 12 in the classroom, but they are all really old ones which are great for those that have never used the Cricut or don't have one, but not so great for others. I usually bring some of my cartridges from home to share, but that's not required so your store's hostess may not do that (especially if she doesn't own a Cricut!).

The hostess of the crop is usually the scrapbook instructor, but may not always be.

Hope that helps and I hope you have a lot of fun at your crop! We're holding ours later in the month. Too bad you don't live closer so that you could come to my store!

Thanks for letting me know about the crop - I was trying to decide if I wanted to wait until I was there to see what carts they had for cutting my letters for the holiday swapbut I think I will just see how the week goes- I will pull my papers and my embellishments and then if I have time to cut great and if not I will take along a couple of my carts with shadows and use a combination of carts while there.

I know the person who runs the crop is there scrapbook instructor and my DH has met her (when she was over at Staples to look at a printer I think- he works ther). When I signed up for the crop on Sunday I was the only 1 on the list but I will see how it goes on Friday evening.

Rebecca

The M crop sounds fun. Wish we had one close. :sad1:

Jennifer, I love having days to myself, too, but I usually have lots of laundry and house work to do. My DS has basketball games every Monday and Thursday right after work and then my DD#1 has dance. I'm usually out of the house about 7:30 am and get back about 8:00 pm. Since we are both home on Tuesdays, let me know if you want to chat while scrapping sometime. My kiddos go back to school tomorrow, so I should have the computer all to my self from 8:00 to 3:00.

Yes, I hardly ever actually take the time for myself, because there's always something else that needs to be done! But, this year, I'm scrapping at least one day a week. That's just all there is to it!

I had my darling great nephew today. Didn't get nearly as much done as I thought I would - he's colicky and likes to be held. I didn't complain too much about that, my baby's 12.
